Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted January 23, 2016 Sergei Makarov Vladimir Krutov Igor Larionov. Vyacheslav Bykov Andrei Khomutov Valeri Kamensky. Pavel Bure Sergei Fedorov Alexander Mogilny. Igor Vyazmikin Yevgeni Davydov Igor Chibirev. Valeri Zelepukin Andrei Kovalenko. Alexei Kasatonov Vyacheslav Fetisov. Vladimir Malakhov Vladimir Konstantinov. Alexei Gusarov Igor Kravchuk. Sergei Zubov Igor Malykhin. Maxim Mikhailovsky Yevgeni Belosheikin. I feel sorry for the Moscow crowds that had to watch this roster each week ! Wonder how they would have fared in the NHL as a team. That 3rd line, now that would have been worth the entrance fee alone. There was 9 centurians in the NHL that season, and the top 20 scorers where all NA except Mr Kurri, would any of the CSKA team have gotten in the top 20? BottleOfSmoke 5,965 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 Man, to watch that Bure/Fedorov/Mogilny line every night... 1 Gordie Howe hat trick reacted to this
jimmyemeryhunter 2,747 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 I was going to say something to the effect of, "if I could go back in time and watch this team," but if I went back to this time, I wouldn't have been born yet or would have just popped out. So I wouldn't understand what I was watching. 1 FireCaptain reacted to this
TheXym 2,606 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 If only the Wings could have picked up one or two of Mogilny and Bure to pair with Sergei. That line must have been pure electricity on the ice. If Bure had stayed healthy, who knows what he could have done.
RusDRW 155 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 Also people underrate the line of Vyacheslav Bykov Andrei Khomutov Valeri Kamensky. Those three together were pure gold.
GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 That lineup is incredible. Makarov is the best player not in the HHOF. Probably the best winger of his generation. That 3rd line on paper is the fastest in hockey history. However, those guys were still way before their primes. I think this roster could give any NHL team fits back then. Not sure if they'd be gritty enough to win a 7 game series against Calgary, though.
Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted January 24, 2016 i think it would only go 4 games GMR! lol

GMRwings1983 8,794 Report post Posted January 25, 2016 i think it would only go 4 games GMR! lol Doubt it. Calgary was a stacked team and would have made the Finals every year if not for the Oilers. That 1989 team had scoring, size, skill and a terrific defense.
