ChristopherReevesLegs 7,022 Report post Posted January 17, 2017 Toews is probably one of the Top 5 players in the league. What he lacks in skill he makes up for in gumption.

He's one of the best two-way forwards in the game, but that's not the same as best player.

Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted January 18, 2017 Stan Bowman.
kliq 3,763 Report post Posted January 18, 2017 59 minutes ago, Dabura said: Stan Bowman. The poll was just players, not GM/Coach, but if you are going to bring Bowman up, out of curiosity why do you give him the nod over Dale Tallon? Tallon drafted Kane, Towes, Keith, Seabrook, and brought on Quenville as head coach. Plus Tallon was the one who brought on Versteeg, Ladd, Bolland Sharp, Byfuglien, and Campbell. Bowman has done a good job surrounding the core with good complementary pieces since they lost some of the aforementioned players, but the core was all Tallon. Dabura 12,232 Report post Posted January 18, 2017 Tongue-in-cheek. I don't really believe it's Stan Bowman. Like you said, kliq, Tallon set the groundwork. I've just found that pretty much everyone I talk to (in real life) about Chicago and their success seems to hold Bowman up on this great big pedestal, which I find surprising and amusing. For me, it's Kane or Keith. Probably the latter. 1 kliq reacted to this

It wasn't at all clear that I was kidding. It's my bad. I mean, to be clear, I don't think Stan Bowman doesn't deserve any credit. In fact, I think he deserves a ton of credit. Yes, he inherited a powerhouse, but he's guided his team to multiple championships in the span of about half a decade, in the cap era. Keeping the Blackhawks this good for this long in The Age of Parity (which, by design, punishes teams that are loaded with high-end talent) is an impressive feat. Bowman's had to make a number of shrewd -- sometimes difficult/ruthless -- decisions just to keep his team in annual contention, and some of those moves have worked out incredibly well for the organization. But, yeah, none of that really matters if they don't have Kane/Keith. 2 Jacksoni and kliq reacted to this
