I would try;

Howard

Larkin - Zetterberg - Mantha
JVR - Nielsen - Oshie
Andreas - Shipachyov - Svechnikov
Callahan - Glendening - Bertuzzi

Alzner - Shattenkirk
Dekeyser - Green
Hicketts - Ouellet

trade tatar and nuqvist for a really good top 6 player (jvr perhaps).

jurco, helm, marchenko. abdelkalder, ericsson, jensen, smith, kronwall, sheahan, trade them all for draft pics.

go hard on the free agents (alzner, shattten, oshie).

check europe for players (Shipachyov perfect mentor for Svechnikov )

trade vanek for a first round pick.

promote callahan and bertuzzi, i think they are better options than old players like ott and miller.

svechnikov might not be dominating in the ahl but he got world class skills, i think he can step in the upcoming season.

hicketts or sproul?

draft Hischier and Hague in the first round and erik brännström with the second.

Very specific, but E, Kronwall, and Abby all have NTCs in their contracts. It's very difficult to trade one of those, let alone 3.

I wouldn't get your hopes up about trading with the Leafs. Not sure if swapping Tatar AND Nyquist for JVR is the best move anyway...

Even ignoring ntc's...Abdelkader, Ericsson, and to some extent Helm all have difficult to move contracts. That indeed is this teams biggest challenge for the future... heavily weighed down by dead weight contracts.

Abdelkader is on pace for 28 points over 82 games. UGLY

Available: Basically everyone, overpayment needed for guys like Larkin who I think could and should be part of the next core

Difficult to get rid of: everyone with a NMC/NTC and/or longterm contracts so that basically rules out guys like Abdelkader, Nielsen, Ericsson, Kronner

Neither Tatar nor Nyquist will return a player like JVR, also JVR doesn't help right now because his a winger not a center. The guy has great size but doesn't use it to his advantage.

So making any predictions when a team has so many needs and so many bad longterm contracts is tough, I just hope this team finally sells and stockpiles on picks and prospects.

id move nyquist and tatar for sure, their both mediocre and this being tatar's contract year hes gonna want big money that we don't have anyways. Hopefully we can try to bolster our blueline some and maybe add a good netfront guy.

Good thing Abby got that nice long contract...

Stop being a hater he scored over 20 goals one year and had back to back 40 point seasons. That was all him, too. It had nothing to do with playing almost exclusively with Zetterberg and Datsyuk. If anything those old farts held him back.

Is this going to be your new thing?.........Sure.

Hopefully Abby gets back on his game. I think his absence hurt a lot more then some people realize.
