What singles out Ainge in my opinion is how fast he managed to overhaul an old championship roster into a young contender with a new title window for years. And without being completely bad or tanking for years in the meantime. Helped a lot by Brooklyns idiocy, for sure, but that's always part of the game. That trade with Brooklyn may go down as the most lopsided traded in history lol.

Jimmybigrigs69 463 Report post Posted June 28 I've relayed this info b4, but I'll repeat it again quick now: There's a gentleman on HF whose father played in the OHL and a limited number of games for the Wings back in the day. He claims to be close to scouts, and has posted reliable insider info in the past. According to him, the belief among Wings brass and ownership is the rebuild is NOT over and it will not be over until the 2027/28 season. That we need this coming season plus one more, and then we will be fully loaded and able to go all in on a cup run. If true, lets break that down: 2027/28 Forwards: Larkin (31) - $8.7 Raymond (25) - $8.08 Compher (32) - $5.1 Rasmussen (28) - $3.2 Possible additional forwards: MBN (22), Danielson (23), Lombardi (24), Berggren (27), Soderblom (26), Bear (21), Kiiskinen (22), Mazur (25), Finnie (22), Plante (21), Buchnelikov (24), Kasper (23) 2027/28 Defense: Seider (26) - $8.55 Possible additional Dmen: Edvinsson (24), Albert Johansson (26), ASP (22), Buium (24), Wallinder (25), Cleveland (22), Anton Johansson (23) 2027/28 Net: Presumed: Cossa (25) and Augustine (22) When you look at the ages of those players in 2027/28, does it not seem like that will be exactly the correct time to insert all that youth? And when you look at our contract situation, all of our big contracts, besides JTC, are done in the next 2 years. So what I'm suggesting is: We might be dissapointed by Yzerman's action this offseason. There's a strong possibility he will not sign or trade for anything significant (bc of reluctance to commit to term). Because the next 2 seasons will be about shedding our cocoon, and becoming the butterfly. The cocoon being Chiarot, Tarasenko, Copp, Mrazek, Talbot, Kane, Debrincat, Holl, and Gustafsson. Most all the young players I listed are progressing extremely well and should be able to be eased on to the roster in the next 2 years, or directly inserted onto the roster in 2027/28. And with a young talented cheap roster like that we will be able to go big game hunting for anything we may want in the 2027 offseason. 1 stephen-gregory-yzerman reacted to this

Jimmybigrigs69 463 Report post Posted June 29 Also, the reason I posted the above in this thread is because the HF poster in question claimed there is about a 50/50 chance Yzerman moves to Devellano's position and appoints Draper as GM after the draft this offseason. I probably shouldve mentioned that... Reason being, it would buy the team good will from fans so that Yzerguy and Drapes can finish out "the plan" over the next two years without so much heat. I think the Gibson trade adds a lil bit of fuel to that fire. As Gibson's contract again coincides with this timeline. Now that the draft is over it will be interesting to see the term that Yzerman hands out on July 1. If this truly is the final leg of "the plan" I expect to see more 1-2 year deals like Gustafsson and Tarasenko (but hopefully more impactful than them).
