Should we have been in on this?    I think the Oil get the better of this deal.   McFast with size but timid vs Savoie,  Marner like skill maybe but often injured.

We need to put the screws to EDM.  Bettman must pay for giving the OIL all the McPicks all the time.

This was an odd trade. Something weird must have happened with Savoie. The other guys just seem like 3rd line plugs and he's yet to even play / is a top 10 pick?

Don't read too much into it. Buffalo doesn't give their managers a mandate beyond 3 years, so they all make a buncha panic moves at the end of their contracts in order to "win now", but they don't win, and it just screws over the next manager down the line... who only has a 3 year mandate. Rinse repeat.

Terrible trade. I guarantee McLeod and Tullio are not on the Sabres roster in 3 years.

I was worried Ottawa and Buffalo would pass us by soon in their rebuilds. But this kinda thing reminds me just how regarded those franchises are.

good call here.  Buffalo and Ottawa are the epitome of stupid.  The SCAM is not a good roster manager, but he's a good evaluator of young talent.

Savoie was just not that good. Middle 6 ceiling. Stock dropped since drafted.

Why? If anything his stock has increased post draft IIMO.

Must be confusing with brother Carter also with the Oilers. Both small wingers Matt has top 6 ceiling Carter likely doesnt ever make it.

I'm not sure who Buffalo would have accepted in return from the Wings, or even if we wanted another small forward.    If Savoie turned into a DCat then that would be worth it.

Buffalo is really dumb and  Savoie saves the Oil money.

Dont think Buffalo woulda traded within division otherwise Veleno probably woulda gotten it done. Big upgrade but I agree that we dont really need any more small skilled wingers. I dont mind missing out on Savoie I just hope we dont miss out on McGroarty when hes traded out of Winnipeg.

Franchise bias. Edmonton is hot right now, making moves everybody likes, so Savoie must be real good.

Similar to the Panthers now signing Boquist. He’s gonna be the next Forsling now.

Great signing.  23 years old.  Always good to take a chance on an immature defensemen that has mad skills but hasn't grown up yet.

I think both players are gonna be good. Just think that the general perception of them is based on who aquired them.

Buffalo had about 2,000 small, finesse, wingers. Edmonton still believes that the reason they aren't winning the Cup is because they don't score enough. It's a match made in heaven.

Salary cap is 2 Billion this year, so they should have been ok...
