Where's that Minnesota clown on this thread? Does he only come out in fair weather?

Does anyone else have man love for Huskins?  Cause I do.

I love all their new guys. Including lashoff

#2345567 Everyone chill out!

Looks like Holland was right.  We are in the Seth Jones sweepstakes.

Hard to do without a first round pick!

People need to calm down. Since the first game, defense hasn't been a problem. I've actually been pretty impressed with both our defense and Jimmy Howard. It's our offense that isn't getting it done so far. I don't view that as a problem because we all know they can score. Once our forwards start picking it up and burying their chances, I think we'll be in pretty good shape.

Until then just calm down. Its only been 3 games

#2331861 Who was the better Wing/Player? Yzerman or Lidstrom

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 17 October 2012 - 12:09 AM

Yzerman had supreme skill, but lidstrom almost seemed immune to mistakes. He did everything right on and off the ice. Yzerman was a better captain, but I think lidstrom filled the void beautifully.

Lidstrom wins it.

Side note: any other team would die to have these 2 guys to pick from

#2319873 We can still win it all THIS season, but...

Nyquist helm and brunner would be the fastest line ever

#2318402 How bad are we if our roster is now finalized?

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 11 July 2012 - 10:17 PM

I'm sorry but that's the kind of mentality that got us into this pickle we're in.

I don't think LGW-ers have that much power...

So in other words, as long as Kenny is running the show, we'll never get another top notch UFA because there will ALWAYS be bidding wars for them. He'll keep filling the roster with Ian White's and Dan Cleary's and the LGWers will all beat off to how much money we saved.

Ian white turned out to be a major steal for us

He's good,no doubt, had good numbers playing in Finland, but Ville Leino was a frkin star there and Jiri Hudler made an All-Star game in KHL and we let them both go...that's how good and deep our prospect pool is :tease:

Don't forget Igor grigorenko!

#2316626 The Next Move

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 06 July 2012 - 11:17 PM

Thats the point. Its one year so weber is out next season

So why not go for a high contract for one year? Why give Nashville a discount? They said they would match any offer so give him an insane amount of money. That way you screw Nashville and Weber is happier with the wings for getting him so much. Money

#2310104 Red Wings make contract offer to D Justin Schultz

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 26 June 2012 - 02:57 PM

People here in Vancouver are going goo goo gaa gaa because twittersphere is saying that Schultz has made a decision to go to the Canucks, no surprise, after all he is from BC.

Any rumor originating from Vancouver or Toronto should be instantly discredited until it actually happens

#2306239 Message to Ken Holland...

This is what I'm talking about.... This is a Stanley Cup lineup with the best defense and rolling out 4 solid lines.

Zach Parise ($7.000m) / Pavel Datsyuk ($6.700m) / Johan Franzen ($3.955m)
Dustin Penner ($4.250m) / Henrik Zetterberg ($6.083m) / Danny Cleary ($2.800m)
Justin Abdelkader ($1.200m) / Valtteri Filppula ($3.000m) / Todd Bertuzzi ($2.075m)
Gustav Nyquist ($0.875m) / Darren Helm ($1.200m) / Patrick Eaves ($1.200m)
Drew Miller ($0.838m) / Cory Emmerton ($0.533m) / Jan Mursak ($0.550m)
Shea Weber ($8.500m) / Ryan Suter ($6.000m)
Niklas Kronwall ($4.750m) / Jonathan Ericsson ($3.250m)
Brendan Smith ($0.875m) / Ian White ($2.875m)
Jimmy Howard ($2.250m)
Joey MacDonald ($0.550m)
Jakub Kindl ($0.008m)

You sound like a leafs fan

#2302666 Illitch "definitely committed" to new downtown arena

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 22 May 2012 - 06:35 PM

I would hope for a modest 20,000 seats all together. As for a name, I am pining for The Delta Centre. Since taking over Northwest Airlines as the largest carrier in Detroit (in the 4th largest airport in the country) Delta hasn't done too much to become part of the community and really invest some money in Detroit the City outside of Romulus The Airport. The Utah Jazz used to have the Delta Center as the name of their arena, but that was years ago, it has since changed. With a brand new arena, and basically Delta still being "NEW" to the area (I know they flew in and out of here prior, but it was like 6 flights) this would be a great opportunity for both Ilitch and Richard Anderson (Delta CEO) to work together on this to help Detroit grow even more. Of course, with it being a Hockey Arena, I had to switch the ER to RE in CentRE to give it a more Canadian flavor, plus the words Delta Centre flow off the tongue pretty easily.

Then all the Airport Authority and the City of Detroit has to do is connect the city to the airport via an light rail with stops in Dearborn and Comerica/Ford Field and Casino's, then the city will finally start to turn the corner. You will have folks actually FLY in to go to a game, dinner, casino, ride the train back to the Airport the next day or same night, and go home. All that sounds like Cash to the City to me...but then again, there is the corrupt City Council and Anti-Union Bing to deal with and that is a whole other monster!

Mr. Ilitch, Mr. Anderson...The Delta Centre...get it done!

Will the building come with tsa????

#2297652 Johan Franzen wants to 'have more fun'

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 27 April 2012 - 04:38 PM

I agree with what franzen said. He's been too inconsistent and needs to work on that but he isn't lazy.

The wings have seemed to professional this season l. If they lighten up a bit they will have a lot more success

#2297445 Datsyuk needs your help

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 26 April 2012 - 11:39 PM

To be completely honest, I thought malkin's play was better. Only a little, but still better

Of course I voted for pasha though

#2295452 So Who Do You Cheer For Now?

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 21 April 2012 - 07:46 PM

Best case scenario for me:
La beats nsh in west finals
Wsh beats nyr in east finals

LA wins the cup for the first time ever!

La and nsh would be the ultimate goalie battle

I've been On many losing teams, so I know this feeling well. It's probably magnified because it's the Stanley cup playoffs and because he's a goalie.

I couldnt imagine being a goalie in this situation, even though he played well

#2291946 Will Detroit win this series?

Posted by wingsfan4795 on 18 April 2012 - 12:50 AM

I know a 3-1 lead in a series is almost impossible to overcome, but there is something about this team that tells me they will not go down. I still have faith in this team.

During the regular season we we're incredibly streaky (both good and bad). We often found ourselves in 1-6 game slumps only to follow it up with a winning streak of our own. This gives me reason to believe that we still have a chance in this series. I know that this is the playoffs and games are 10x harder to close out and mistakes can cost you a series, but we aren't a young team. We have the experience in big games. The wings play better when there backs are against the wall and when they are on the brink of elimination. That is why I still have faith in this team.

I know these following predictions may seem lofty but I see them as entirely possible. There are too many times where a team lets off the gas pedal and can't finish. That won't be the case with Detroit, they will finish strong.

Detroit makes a statement and puts the pressure right back on Nashville.

DET [5-1] W

Nailbiter game that could go either way, but Detroit wins at home.

DET [2-1] W

This game will feature playoff hockey at its finest, with the highs and lows of everything you could imagine. Detroit wins in overtime.

DET [3-2 OT] W

Keys to Victory:
- Get the first goal
- Don't allow odd man rushes
- Limit turnovers
- Stay out of the penalty box
- Get 2nd chances on Rinne

Share your thoughts on how this series is going to turn out! (Try to stay positive and have faith)

I think there's very few of us optimists left on this thread! Wings in 7!!!!!
