#2614966 2015 Draft

Posted by frankgrimes on 17 June 2015 - 03:46 PM

Agreed frank. But and this does relate to them, if either one/both are moved for a top pair Dman we do need to go F. I still prefer to go F anyway. I would rather sign/trade for proven vets on the BL than to trust prospects. Kinda like pitching in baseball. You draft pitchers becasue there is a shortage of quality arms. You can always trade for hitters. In hockey goal scoring is a premium.

The problem is, soon this team will need both things so I'd rather go for preventing goals now and try to build a new defensive core around Danny D and then look at fixing the center-problem. The Wings can't afford to go into another Lidström situation when Pasha moves on.

What does the unfortunate Mantha injury have to do with the draft thread ? That's right nothing. it's getting tiresome reading through another thread derailing topic.

Fact is Larkin and Mantha are by far the best Wings prospects, hence why other Gms are asking about them and not about some of the others.

As far as the draft is concerned the Wings just have to pick a defender in the first round, yeah center is a need too but right now I think defense is even a bigger one.

Lol talk about overrating Larkin , there is no way he even touches the top 5 in this draft class: McDavid, Eichel, Hanifin, Marner, Strome, Crouse should be set. Maybe 7 but I think Werenski or maybe that Russian kid will own that position .

I don't care about what position he would be wings for him at 17 and now have to develop both guys Larkin and Mantha.

Mantha will be fine and make Mr. Players are cattles eat cow.

Man!! You people are super sensitive! Jesus! Toews and Kane just proved they're better than D and Z and you all get mad. You think I enjoy watching Chicago win again? NOPE. But you know what? It's the truth. But Kane and Toews are supposed to better, they were higher picks for a reason. But even as  Wings fan I'd take those two over D and Z any day of the week.

The thing is you are comparing a prime Toews, Kane to the Z and Pasha from nowadays both in their mid 30s.

If you would have said that Toews is better than Z I'd agree but better than a prime Pasha ? I don't think so defensively they are even matched but in terms of also creating offense and making people go wow how did he do that against other nhl players ? It's Pasha.

Also look at the support core Keith, Seabrook, Hjalmarsen, Hossa and Sharp I mean that's a top pairing and tons of options for loading up the first line or even things out on the second line

Kane isn't even a center so it's tough to compare.

Currently Toews is for sure a top 3 player in the league but ranking him above a prime Pasha is false.

Toews has 3 cups, Zetterberg will NEVER get that. And Kane now has three cups and starting tearing up the NHL playoffs WAY before Datsyuk in age. Give me Toews and Kane over D and Z ANY DAY of the week. Only blind homers will say otherwise.

I've thought this before and now I am pissed of enough to type it: I highly doubt you are a wings fan and that's obvious after reading some of your postings..

Maybe a Leafs or even Hawks troll..

I love both Nyquist and Tatar but I would absolutely trade one of them for an upgrade on the back end (top 4 defenseman). We have a ton of forwards coming over the next few seasons, more than we'll have room for.

One of them will for sureh ave to be included in a package.

#2614065 Here we go AGAIN - Coyotes, part DUH!

Well the loyal fans there got screwed over bigtime by the NHL. I mean the guy who is responsible for putting a team there should be fired once they are on the move. That Vegas gamble - oh the irony - is the next stupid project.

How hard is it for the NHL to understand that hockey in the desert will never work ? Now loyal fans are going to lose their team, because the interest has never been there from enough people and the NHL front office was too cocky admitting their mistake.

Give Quebec back what has been stolen from them a long time ago,, let the Nordiques return and for once have another strong slamdunk market, i.e. another Winnipeg.

It will be a two way contract so no problem with it at all..some veteran leadership will be nice for the griffins

#2612802 WCF : (3) Chicago Blackhawks vs. (1) Anaheim Ducks

Posted by frankgrimes on 02 June 2015 - 05:47 AM

Thought this thread would be about the Ducks versus Hawks instead it's another Quennville versus the best coach in all of hockey (useless) debate.

Q is a very good coach but he is no Babcock. There is a reason wh the guy is so highly regarded and finally the highest paid coach in the league.

I thinkk the top coaches are: Babs > Suter > Q > Tippet > McLellan > Julien > Hitchcock > Bylsma

up and coming ones: Nelson + Cooper + hopefully Blashill

Anyway, this game came down tothe big guys and well...the Hawks big guns delivered the Ducks didn't they didn't even goon it up :(

Hate to see Chicago there but man Toews versus Stammer should be one for the ages.

Hopefully Keith and Seabrook are tired

The more I watch that replay, the more I can see how the refs saw it as a good goal.  I mean, was it really a kicking motion?  When in doubt, allow the goal.

Neither have the Hawks for that matter.  Got to give credit where credit is due.

This rule is so difficult why not make it simple? Goal with the foot aren't counting period no mysterios kicking or not motion.
