#2627541 Chicago re-signs Seabrook; 8 years, $6.875 AAV

Well Shaw and Teravainen aren't old in fact they are young and as long as their core is still in their prime, they'll sadly will be an annual contender.

This is a great deal for one of the top defenders in the game:
Seabrook has to be one of the most underrated defenders in the game, he may not be flashy but he does everything so damn well and allows Keith to take some risks. So all in all a pretty good deal for the Hawks, he would have easily gotten something like 8x8 on the open market.

I would say it's something like Weber, Suter, Doughty, Keith, Seabrook, Pietrangelo, Hedman

Bettman translation - open up your check book, WOW me then we can talk.

Exactly and even if the NHL won't be the first league to do it - that's going to be the soccer league - that freaking worldcup is already proof enough of what we can expect, IF the companies are going to WOW Mr. grow the game...

No worries I honestly thought Keith was getting robbed in terms of Norris this year. He does get a lot of credit finally and more people are mentioning him in the same sentence as Toews which is only fair because Keith is that good.

Seabrook in my mind is very underrated although he allows Keith to do the things he does. Seabrook is a big body , can our up points and is very good in his own end. Those 2 are without a doubt the best pairing in the nhl right now.

#2624978 Kane case headed to grand jury

Posted by frankgrimes on 08 September 2015 - 11:03 PM

Yet, if this was a non-core player rather than Kane, I imagine the Blackhawks organization would more than likely rest on their impeccable moral code.  You know, like the Kings.

The kings would rather have an animal back than someone who has used painkillers ...

#2624788 Gustavsson gets tryout with Bruins

I wish him nothing but the best. Guy lost his mother then came to Toronto in a trainwreck situation and thanks to Toskala got called up way  too early (he never played on smaller ice before). I think he has shown what he can do when he is healthy so I hope it works out for him, guy deserves all the good faith in the world.

Hopefully he can stay healthy still sad to see him go

#2624739 Cleary re-signs... 1 year deal

As expected and really I don't see a problem with this. At best he will be an emergency call up from the Grand Rapids and while being there he can show some younger guys (Mantha, Larkin) the way and since the 950k aren't counting against the cap it doesn't really matter. Personally I'm in favor of everything that helps prepare Larkin, Mantha better for the big club in a few years if that includes signing a veteran with a great work ethic so be it.

Does'nt make me bitter because I think they make too much money. If people want to pay them that much, have fun. How do I pay any of their salaries? Because I own a few jerseys and watch games online for free? I've been to one NHL game in my life and I doubt i'll ever do it again. Way too expensive. And it's good their salaries are restricted by the cap. At least theres SOME sense of trying to keep them in check.

sure it does why do you even care it's not your money? Would you rather see billionaires getting even more ? It's not like he is asking for sympathy although I do have some for him because no matter how rich someone is uprooting a family and having your endless loyalty not returned and even used against you is a tough pill to swallow for almost everyone.

and guess what I'd rather see hockey players making more than some athletes from questionable leagues or sports doing so. If someone wants to pay a guy like Stamkos 200 mill I wouldn't have a problem with it either but guess what if I were a billionaire i would do it too because the success and Jersey sales will make up for it in no time.

No offense but I think hockey players deserve a lot more respect than what they are receiving for putting their body on the line for almost 8 months a year to entertain fans !

I too like some of their products, specially the sneakers and beach wear. But the truth is they aren't a hockey company and it's just another evidence that the guys running this league would risk their own life if they saw a few cents on the street.

Graf makes the best and most comfortable skates out there, they do have a hockey background and have been in the business of hockey since forever. Adidas' only hockey background is buying CCM ...

The best thing would have been if each team decides on their own, this stupid league has to much power over the teams.

Marek versus Wishinsky just talked about that new deal also and some ideas are just hilarious like sponsored icing, PIMs I can see it now this fight was proudly brought to you by Hayabusa...Soon NHL players will look like walking billboards :(.

Why can't teams negotiate their own deals ? You know ask some of these companies to provide an acceptable concept and choose the one that suits the winged wheel best. If that's Adidas so be it but if Nike has a better one why not choose them ?

Personally I've always thought the more annoying an ad is the less likely I'll buy their product. Yes I know who that stupid Ge...o company is but thanks to their stupid annoying eyes I'd never ever choose their service. Same goes for that car insurance company - no freaking way. Can't wait till NHL players will look like moving billboards like in Europe.

Iam sure Habs fans responded to Semin signing by screaming " merde ". Want to give you coach migraine headaches ? Sign Semin. Habs did a favor to other 29 teams by taking him of market.

Therrien and Semin I can't wait for it to unfold and then also Kassian lol

Looks like another useless let's bash the best coach in all of hockey kind of thing.

It takes 2 to tango and sadly for us the guy wanted to move on just be happy it wasn't Hakan

#2621103 Holtby Asking for $8M

Posted by frankgrimes on 21 July 2015 - 03:33 PM

Nothing unusual about it teams are going intro arbitration with the lowest offer and players with the highest. I think they'll meet somewhere north of 6.

Holtby had two good seasons his rookie one and now the one under Trotz. But he for sure hasn't proven enough to be in the King Henrik, Rinne, Rask, Quick and Price class.

That's just rogers, Canadian market. As stated above the finals were the second most watched in many years...

Also, its looking like the kings are going to get away with just voiding Richards contract.

I get the argument that more super teams would draw interest from more casual fans, but the league right now has the same amount of powerhouses as the NFL, who's popularity the NHL will never be able to match in the u.s.

Unless You're making an argument here that you haven't said yet, you're just wrong on this one bud.
It would be cool for the wings to just be able to buy/horde all the talent they can, but then there would be no chance teams like Arizona, Florida, or Ottawa could survive.

Ok my bad then sorry, yeah Rogers is well just annoying and tsn crushed them again with their trade dead line.

See that's the difference I don't care about the other teams, if the Wings win in let's say a 7 team league that's way more entertaining than watching them aging and struggling to make the playoffs and on top of that not being THE July 1 team, not long ago this was our second Christmas :(

Don't get me wrong the Blackhawks can go down as much as much as possible but I don't think punishing successful teams is the right thing. For sure I feel a bit of satisfaction watching other teams going through the same crap we've gone through since 2009

Difference is ratings are down, GMs are starting to get fed up so it's not just fans anymore.

I mean I'm not an NFL fan but even I know who the Patriots, Seahawks are a league needs super-teams.
