#2488553 Marty St. Louis wants out because The Captain hurt his feelings

Posted by frankgrimes on 02 March 2014 - 12:28 PM

I'm trying to look at this as unbiased as I can - which is obviously hard because it involes two of my favorite players - so:

Martin Saint Louis:

A guy who has been doubted his whole career, played his heart out for this franchise and would have been a snub two times in a row with his own GM being the boss of team Canada. It's like a girl telling you you can have her if things are going south with her current boyfriend and once that happens she is choosing AGAIN another one over you --> everyone would be pissed.

Stevie Y:

Turned the Bolts around in no time, doesn't want to act like a dictator and tell the other members Marty is on the team, period. Just another testament to what a class act this guy is.

So if I'm an 38 old MSL this would be my last chance at the olympics and therefore olympic Gold would I be pissed ? For sure getting snubbed one time is hard but two times I wouldn't sit well with me. If I'm Stevie Y should I really risk pissing off the other members by forcing them to take a guy they don't see as a fit ? Tough call.

MSL has to keep one thing in mind though if it weren't for his GM he would not have a gold medal yet because there is no way Stevie would pass on him for a third time. I really hope these two are figuring it out and he will remain a Bolt guy is pure class and deserves to have his number retired in Tampa.

#2488459 Trade deadline fast approaching - who should we target?

Posted by frankgrimes on 01 March 2014 - 10:59 PM

great, Pit in on the Kesler trades....if they get him, look out!

For what exactly? For another non Stanley cup, because Kesler is far from what they need. Yeah Shero go for it and waste another year of Crosby and Malkin. The penguins need defense and as long as they aren't improving their biggest weakness no offensive power is going to help them.

Also Kesler would only be a number 3 center on their team just like here so no wax something like him accepts that.

All I can say, thanks god.

Would I want another good ol Michigan boy here? Sure.

Would I want Kesler at the expense of Nyquist, Tatar, Mantha or a first ? Nope.

Glad, we are out of the Vanek and Moulson bidwar neither would put this team over the top and this team is not at the point, where rentals high expensive rentals would make sense.

#2487261 2/26 GDT - Red Wings 2 at Canadiens 1 (OT)

Posted by frankgrimes on 27 February 2014 - 10:20 AM

There's nothing in the CBA that would prevent him from taking a pay cut.  They had to offer him his current salary when his last contract was up because he was a RFA and they had to make him a qualifying offer that was a 10% raise over his previous deal.

For a bit more we could have had Luke Schenn, who is a pure shutdown D man, reliable in his own zone and a physical beast.

#2486919 Pekka Rinne cleared to play, sent to Admirals for conditioning

Finally he is one of the elite goaltenders and no doubt playing a big part in the playoff push for you guys, good luck and all the best to him.

So now NHL players aren't even allowed to celebrate at home infront of their fans? What the f*** is this, let them celebrate and then they are going to fly back. Sometimes this league just doesn't look like a player first approach.

Sweden looked shocked from the beginning, but still taking home Silver without so many great players is a huge accomplishment. Canada just turned it on when the games mattered, their defense was just out of this world.

Hey Ed Snider I guess Stevie Y knows a bit about hockey now ey?

Holland had better get to inquiring about Thomas Vanek. Better yet, he can do it when Garth Snow is drunk and offer him a few cute puck bunnies.

Snow wants a first + A level prospect + B level prospect for a rental no way teams are going to give that up for ~ 2 months of Vanek.

If Karlson can round out his defensive game, he could be one of the elite defenseman for years to come.

What a great game and an appetizer for the midday game. Watched it on my tablet and would love to rewatch it again already, Lundvist unbelievable.

Also congrats to the Fins, having your 4 best centers out and beating Russia on home-ice, while having the defending champions on the rope of a loss and making it to the final 4 is a huge accomplishment.

#2485683 John Tavares out for remainder of the season.

The most important thing is his health, I hope he takes his time and does the right thing. If that means being done for the season so be it sometimes other things (love, health) are way more important than the best game this planet has ever seen.

Get well soon captain Z
