At this rate a shooter trainer would give jimmy a run for his money. That said, i have high hopes for mrazek as well.

Anyone else think after Gus' big season he'll go somewhere else for a starting job/more money?

If he keeps up this stellar performance there are will for sure be a market for him.

#2462537 The Nyquist/Tatar Thread

Very deserving and well thought out articles but hyping them up ad the euro twins if the future is setting the bar to high. Personally, I would be happy if both could become steady contributors on the top 6. Can't wait till they are starting to bulk up. Like others I had to laugh hard, when Kenny's favoritism of veterans was mentioned because its more than true. Lets hope that Gustav N and Thomas T. can keep their compete level up for a long time, because these two are a better support cast than the so called veterans.

#2462456 Shawn Thornton attacks Orpik (leaves game on stretcher)

There are two problems with your argument and how you present it.  First, fighting isn't part of the game, hence it's against the rules and is a penalty.  Secondly, you repeatedly call anyone who disagrees with you "soccer moms and dads", and tell everyone else to go watch something else if they don't agree.  Both are decidedly against the forum rules as well as piss poor ways of defending your point of view.  Not withstanding that fact that you inexplicably get away with your baiting over and over and over again, one has to wonder why (if you're such a fan of something that isn't part of the game) you don't go watch MMA or boxing. Instead, you prefer to tell everyone else to watch something else whenever they suggest that perhaps the game they love shouldn't be turned into a dangerous freak show because of flagrant and repeated disregard for the rules of the sport.

Says the guy, who is trying in every damn thread to "analyse" the opinion of others. Soccer mums and hockey dads is not used for anyone specifically it's simple a term, because +in general+ the same discussions are happening on every board, every year ..more scoring, remove this and that...so it's warranted like it or not., just a simple term so stop reaching and stay on topic. I also don't need to defend my arguments, some agree some disagree so I could care less, if someone thinks I'm wrong or right.

Secondly I don't need others telling me, what is part of the game and what isn't since I know it, thanks.

Anyway back to topic

Bylsma has no problem with the hit from Orpik, maybe they should have asked him about the Neal thing, I am sure he doesn't have a problem with that either if it happened to Malkin or Crosby he would sing a different tune. That's exactly the reason why I can't stand the Penguins they are so talented but extremely hypocrites, Julien was honest and of course right.

Did he really call them Team Bettman?

And kipwinger is right, you need to knock it off with the Soccer Moms schtick, it does your arguments no favour.

Nope team Bettman is my nickname for that team, after all the stuff they are getting away with.

Doesn't matter to me, its just annoying reading the same headlines everytime something like this is happening. If people don't like the game fine, don't watch it but stop pushing an agenda.

Neals hit could have been way worse the guy is skating with protectors on his knee through the head of a player, who happens to lay down on the ice that's disgusting and extremely dangerous. The department of player safety needs to look at the intent and then at the result, if Thornton is getting extensively more than Neal something in this league is really really wrong..if this happened to Crosby Mario and the whole Penguins organization would cry bloody murder.

I think Claud Julien nailed it, basically said:

Thornton obviously crossed the line, but so did team Bettman known as the Penguins.

If Shanahan wants to send a message:

Thornton: 10 games - disgusting and he knows it

Neal: 8 games - that wasn't kneeing this was an intent with the head as principal point of contact according to rule #48 ..didn't even show any remorse what an idiot

Orpik: phone hearing = less than 5 games

I am sure it's also just bad luck, that everytime a game goes out of hand the Penguins are involved...maybe thats the Mario L. & Sindy C. bonus...

Personally, I still love the type of grit and caring McCarty has shown that's the type of team bounding I love to watch. Like Downey said, you can hit the players but if you cross the line someone will come out and make you pay for it. Sometimes I think people are forgetting, that this hockey not a sport for the soccer mums and dads of the world :)

Orpik released and cleared to travel with team.
So why was he taken off on stretcher? ....

For show.... to make sure Thornton will get more games which in turn would actually make the Bruins better by having a guy out there who can actually play hockey

Thornton can play hockey and on top of it is tough as nails a perfect fourth liner plus brings tons of leadership.

If i were an athlete I'd tell HBO that I am introverted guy and they are not allowed to follow me with their cameras. Weiss needs to find his game in a hurry so stuff like HBO is the last thing he needs.

It's not that difficult, the Monster has been playing well so why not start him till Howy is getting his game gback seems like a no brainer to me.

#2460690 Lundqvist, Rangers agree on extension.

Posted by frankgrimes on 04 December 2013 - 04:22 PM

King Henrik didn't have success? This guy is more often than not the only reason the NewYorkRangers are even in the mix for the playoffs. An annually Vezina nominee, the best goaltender in the world by far and probably the most beloved player they have letting him go was never an option. Thanks to the stupid CBA GMs can't get creative with contracts anymore because they are all under a regime if they don't follow suit = losing a draft pick in the first round.

8,5 per year is a lot but the king certainly deserves it.

#2460397 Zetterberg out at least 2 weeks with herniated disc

Posted by frankgrimes on 03 December 2013 - 12:44 PM

That's a big problem right here, the two best centers are out now others really need to step up. Try Helmet as a 2 line center? Get well soon captain beard

#2460283 Hull "Avery doesn't get to talk to Sakic"

Just a great read I can't stand the Avalanche but a lot of respect goes to Sakic, the guy lead by example and was a class act.

#2460261 Datsyuk concussion: To Return Tuesday

Personally I am sadly starting to think Pasha won't see the ice until mid January :(

#2460211 Retaliation

Posted by frankgrimes on 02 December 2013 - 06:28 PM

Well, I believe some soccer-mums and soccer-dads are only happy once hockey is as lame as soccer. The player on the team is missing games with a concussion, the NHL isn't doing anything about it? Who cares, the PP is our enforcer and mastermind Kenny is always right...(at least in the eyes of the soccer mums, soccer-dads).

And yet some people are still questioning, why the  interest in this team isn't the same as it was back in the days, no, it's not only skill related it's also that sense of seeing a team which will stand up for each other no matter what. I'm so sick of this "puck posession" style this team certainly isn't skilled enough for that anymore, so they clearly lack an identity. I am very sure the Senators are already laughing, Cowen took out the DetroitRedWings best player and the response was...well winning a game that could have gone either way, only Sam has shown some heart.

The funny thing is, as soon as this team is winning a few games they are back the "almighty" puck-posession style and everyting is fine right? No it's not, not standing up for your best player reflects very poorly on the team and the GM for not brining in someone, who can deal with Neil and even Kassasian.

Yes, shame on everybody who wants them to play tougher and protect the starplayers, young-guns I am sure Stevie Y, the perfect human were really pissed about their great bodyguards. A guy like Monahan, Bärtschi can score goals and isn't getting glasssmashed, ellbowed or whatever because almost nobody wants to answer to McGrattan.

#2460063 Zetterberg to captain the 2014 swedish olympic team?

Posted by frankgrimes on 02 December 2013 - 01:05 AM

Z deserves it. I've also heard that Datsyuk might captain the Russian team.

For PR reasons alone it will be either OV Rafulov or homecoming hero Kovalchuk although Pasha extremely deserves it.

#2459562 Shea Weber leaves game with Injury

Posted by frankgrimes on 01 December 2013 - 12:24 PM

There is not one team in this league, that wouldn't take weber. Imagine a pairing of Pietrangelo + Weber = insane having that said, even if it were possible as long as Z is the captain Weber would never be wearing this jersey.
