I am not an idiot, I know that the chances of winning this series are slim. However, why should that prevent us from being as loud as possible? This is our team, and we love them dearly. So my challenge to those who are going to game 4, be as loud, and crazy as possible! Lets do those "JIMMY, JIMMY" or "HOWIE, HOWIE" chants, chant for Lids, we may witness his last game ever. We have had a hell of a season so far, and ITS NOT OVER YET!! Lets show this team, and Lids, and Howie, and everyone else how much we appreciate them. LETS ******* RIOT, and take game 4! LGW!

    put ozzy in, now?

Don't put Ozzie in now to take the hit for the series loss. Howard is the guy that got us here, and he needs to see it through to the finish.

I just read "in for Williams" and I'm voting yes.

    put ozzy in, now?

I would have to say to put ozzy in and give him a try. Our chances of winning this series is extremely low, and we mine as well test out osgood. If I was babs, I would play him!

Why The Wings can win this series

Although many of you will disagree with a thought of winning this series, the Wings are the only team in the NHL that I believe can pull off a 3-0 comeback. They would be the 3rd in history to do such and hopefully this is there year. History will have to be made in order for this to occur. The reason I believe the wings can pull this off is the they have not been outplayed in any of the games in this series. All of the games were lost on late mental mistakes by both Howard and the defense. The wings HAVE to go with a 1 game at a time mentality, otherwise the series is over. What will have to happen: Babcock will have to control the emotions of the team Howard will have to make big saves all game The defense HAS to tighten up Stop the sharks pp and ignite our offense on our PP's Ref's will have to put there whistles away, no bs calls Wings HAVE to capitalize on the sharks mistakes Smart decisions when on the ice Get more pucks on net Get into Nabbies's head Star players have to play great No giving up when down Now there are plenty of other things that will have to occur, but the wings must start there. Lets Go Wings!

All of them are the reason we're down 3-0. You win as a team, you lose as a team. The refs definitely aren't helping. And blaming Crosby is fun, no matter what it's for, so throw him in too.

Ville Leino was practically a heavyweight enforcer, due to the time spent in the super tough Finnish League.

Yes, yes 1000 times yes please. With that being said, it was not Williams' fault we lost in overtime even though that's popular belief given it is Williams. He can't help it if defensemen pinch beyond absurd levels unnecessarily.

Why is Howard still in the net?

You're a troll. Go back to whatever hole you crawled out of. Howard is in net for one reason, because it won't make a difference who is in net with the way the WHOLE team has been playing.

See, the thing is, I never bought any of it, and I'm certainly not the only one. Plenty predicted rather accurately how this was likely to go down. And I've said the same thing all along that people are just realizing and saying now. The problem is that so many people have selective memories and easily ignore facts in the present. While Jimmy Howard was playing great, Osgood was going weeks to months between starts. Then, according to the masses he's "blowing his chances." Really? One game out of nowhere once in a blue moon is "blowing every chance?" I never bought it then, and I sure as hell don't buy it now. And look all over the map over the last couple weeks and you'll read and hear a lot of comments like these: "Looking back on it, Osgood was never given a fair chance to get going." "It was stupid to let Osgood sit for so long." "Osgood wasn't playing as bad as the year before when he was able to turn it on in the playoffs." "Why on earth didn't Babcock go with the veteran who was the best goalie of the last two post-seasons?" Listen to the radio; hosts are dropping these lines and fans calling in are dropping them. Read the papers and you'll see writers saying it there too. And even here on lgw.com we've got people backpedaling over the matter. If you go back, you'd find that more than a few of us were saying this stuff all along. And I'm not saying that it's rocket science; it just makes all the sense in the world if you cut the "hype" bulls***. Hype rarely ever plays out to be worth all the commotion it causes. And I ask you, in all honesty, what's it worth to ride a rookie goalie to the playoffs only to watch him crumble under the pressure as if it wasn't inevitable especially in this town coming off of two outstanding playoff runs? Not much if you ask me. Some people are calling this "experience" for Jimmy Howard. Well here's something else that people just might be backpedaling on six months: this "experience" might have a profoundly negative effect on Howard. We've seen goalies get burnt out early more often than not in the NHL, and there's no reason Jimmy Howard is going to magically be exempt to the effect. That's certainly not to say that I think he's screwed because of this, but I'm certainly not ignoring the potential given all the factors involved and the history of countless other goalies to suffer the same fate before him. All the risks involved weren't worth it to me six months ago, and those risks look all the more like mistakes now that the regular season fog has cleared. Babcock NEVER gave Osgood anything close to a fair, reasonable chance to get his game going. Someone at his level should be smart enough to know that no matter how well a rookie plays in the regular season, chances are he's going to struggle in the post-season; better to go with the guy who's got the experience if you want to give yourself the best chance to win. And isn't that the point? People seem content to have just made it into the playoffs, and while I don't want to minimize the accomplishment or act like a spoiled brat, but I want to win every year, and I don't think any guy in that locker room will tell you otherwise. If you want to win every year, you need to give yourself the best chance; you need to go with what you know works. Chris Osgood obviously has worked in the past. So what do you do? Simple. Everything you can to give Osgood a chance to get going. He's a champion. If you don't believe he wouldn't have found a way to get his game going with a true to life playoff race on, you must not have been watching this guy the last couple of years in April, May and June. Osgood lives for the playoffs, and he would've risen to the occasion if given a few consistent starts or at least a steady, predictable rotation. I have absolutely no doubt about that, just as I had no doubt that he could come in on the 2008 run and carry this team to a Cup, and just how I had no doubt that he could be that guy again even after an abysmal regular season last year. I had and have no doubt in Chris Osgood because the guy has proven throughout his long career that he has what it takes to be a champion, and when you've got a guy like that in the room, you do everything you can get him going. But Babcock chose to let the champion sit and rot on the bench while setting up a rookie goalie to fail, so again, in my mind, this one's entirely on Mike Babcock.

For those of us going to game 4..

Win or lose, I'm still a fan, they're still my team. Make it loud! If they win, glory in it. If they lose, show them why Detroit still has the best fans around!

Why The Wings can win this series

Well dats z and lids need some help, badly. Mule, its time for you to go crazy with a hatty, bert you gotta score. Williams, please take a vacation in the bahamas. E please don't try too hard like in 09 when you rocked.

Every goalie has bad playoff years - Luongo, Brodeur, Nabokov, Hasek. Howard is a rookie but has shown flashes of being a great goalie. Patience

    What I'm worried about

I don't know why you'd say something like that.

I voted other. I would have to blame the San Jose Sharks. We aren't going to win if they keep beating us

I think Patty Roy went to the finals (and won a cup?) in his rookie year. I agree with the fact that it's hard to win when you need to score 5 goals, but the blame shouldn't fall solely on the goalie. Howie has been facing a good number of shots per game. I'm not saying he should have let in all the goals he has, but come on. Goaltending is not our only problem. Here's hoping Jimmy picks himself up along with the rest of the wings, and we can pull off some amazing stuff to finish this series.

for those blaming howard...i see your point, to a degree. it's tough to win playoff games when you let in four goals a game. that short-side goal-line shot, for example, should not have been let in tonight. it seems like he's had one of those every game -- one goal that he should have gotten. and we've lost all the games by one goal. so maybe that IS the difference. at the same time..yeah, so we're probably going to get bounced in the second round this year. it's our 19th straight trip to the playoffs, so we can't be that bummed, can we? maybe this a good learning experience for howie and for the future of the wings. you can't expect a cup every year. i'd rather have howie have a mediocre first playoff experience and keep building on that than have a cam ward AMAZING first playoff experience and then not make the playoffs for a bunch of years in a row afterward. i would say that, in some ways, this a rebuilding year for the wings, but for us, a rebuilding year means only getting to the second round. for most teams, "rebuilding" means a sub .500 record and no playoff berth. so, honestly, i'll take it. don't be too quick to s*** all over howard for one imperfect playoff run.

Eh, Howie and Ozzy are very similar. They both make spectacular highlight-reel saves and hold us up when they need to, but let in some of the softies. Aside from Ozzy's rust, I think we would be in the same boat either way, to be honest.

It's pretty tough to win when you've let in 4 goals every game in the series. We'd have to be scoring at a 5 goal per game pace. That's a bit much to ask. You can blame the inconsistent PK but tonight they were a perfect 6 for 6. That really only leaves our rookie goaltender who was over-worked coming into the playoffs (although I understand that that was unavoidable given the team's record at the Olympic break.
