Just got back from the game, and it was one hell of a game. I was at the Boston end when Bert scored the first goal, and it felt like slow motion, watching him tease Thomas with the puck before backhanding it in! GREAT game by the boys. Nice to see Big E have a really good game, Kronwall get a nice hit in there, and Bert continuing on his hot streak. The tribute to Ozzie was really nice, and Draper's son, Kienan, had a great birthday today, watching his dad score a goal and be named one of the three stars: Keep her going boys, and show them Lightning whose boss!

I agree, great to see Nik at a plus. But, c'mon... Lets not dis Stuart now. If anything, everyone should now realize what a vital role Stuart played for our team... since he has been out, our defense has pretty much totally ******* sucked...

Probably something to do with the team finally not letting in 3-4 goals a game. Hopefully they keep it that way.

It was the 2nd night of a back-to-back, against one of the best teams in the NHL after not playing a real game for almost a year before yesterday. Of course he's gonna have some tired legs, and yes he did have a much tougher time getting anything done than in his first game. But the entire Avalanche team looked absolutely, positively awful. And neither of Forsberg's minuses was on him, especially not the empty net goal. Give him a couple of games to get up to speed. In the Olympics it took until the 4th game (I think) for him to really start to look like himself. And this is an even higher level of competition. The fact is that he has looked very good so far under the circumstances.

Or how about the Pens and Flyers, who are good at winning games and fights?

Pretty sad how so many people here are crying about this. Go watch some basketball if you can't stomach this kind of thing. They actually allow fighting in hockey, meaning things like this can happen. Used to happen all the time too, especially in Detroit.

Fighting is completely useless. The only thing pathetic is players that actually think they help their team when they get an instigator and 5 minutes in the box. I'll take a good hit over a fight any day of the week.

Washed up? Dude has been dominating everytime he's set his f***ed up feet on the ice in the SEL the last couple of years. Last time he was in the NHL he almost singlehandedly got the Avs into the playoffs and was a big part of them getting to the 2nd round. In the Olympics 2010 he was one of very few bright spots in the game where Sweden was eliminated against Slovakia. Cash grab? He's been playing for FREE for Modo in the SEL. And by FREE, I mean as in getting payed NO MONEY. Not only a little bit of money. NO. MONEY. Now he has signed a ******* 1 million dollar contract. Guess what, I'm sure he'd play for zero dollars if it was allowed. If this was about money he probably would have saved himself about 10 operations on his foot and just signed for a KHL team or something. He is doing this for himself. Because he loves to play hockey. And maybe a little bit to prove to people like you that he ISN'T washed up and that he still has hockey in him.

Going into the playoffs I think we might need another depth d guy. Knock on wood that no other defensmen goes down but I wouldn't want Kindl to step in if something happens. So because most noticed that the play of certain players has gone to hell in a hand basket we cannot call them out because it would make us less of a Wings fan? Our "senseless accusations" as you put are right on the money. Kindl's play is going backwards and he is not improving, once we get healthy he won't be playing much and rightfully so.

Way too much bitching from members here. Especially considering that we outplayed Boston for the final two periods of play. The Wings played an excellent game and the stats of the game don't lie. Are there things they can improve on? You betcha! At the same time though, the blame game going around on Kindl and Howard really needs to stop. The "Wings fans" on this forum really need to get behind their team and stop with the senseless accusations and blame. Especially on things like "rebounds" which Howard was toasted for, but when Thomas gives up rebounds, they are naturally supposed to happen. The arguments make no sense. Ah well. Onto the next game!

Draper is having his best season in 5 years and looks so excited to be out there. I don't see him up in Detroit for a full year next year, but would love him back on a 2-way as 1st recall for injuries.

Im not sure how reducing the roster size to 17 is supposed to help. Seems to me they reduced the Islanders roster size to about 7 by the end of that game and there was still fighting.

I disagree with you, I'm sorry if you want to watch two people just beat the s*** out of each other just to make a show watch UFC or WWF. I think fighting is part of the game but the token goon has no place in Hockey anymore, its time to get over it and move on. Its not fun to watch two guys fight for the sake of fighting, its adds nothing to the game and at best its a distraction. Now if its two players who in the heat of the moment or to protect a player and they fight thats great, that passion is what makes hockey great, not the goons who fight for their paycheck.

Really appreciate the hospitality/help and absolutely cannot wait to get to Hockeytown! Now, I just need to find a way to convince people I'm focusing on my work between now and then! Any other tips, suggestions, etc for a 30-something (ok..full disclosure, damn near 40) married couple in terms of things to do at the game....after the game...or just in general in the downtown area? we'll be there for about 2 1/2 days. Also, does the Joe Louis Arena wings shop sell Konstantinov jerseys by chance? I've always wanted one and it would make it perfect if i could actually buy it *in* detroit at the joe. a little hokey probably...but I still think that would be cool. =) Thanks again guys!

That experience and you don't realize that fights don't win games? I don't know about you, but I'd rather win games than win fights. Who would you rather be? Detroit- 2nd fewest penalty minutes, 4th in overall points. St. Louis- 4th most penalty minutes, 23rd in overall points.
