It was the 2nd night of a back-to-back, against one of the best teams in the NHL after not playing a real game for almost a year before yesterday. Of course he's gonna have some tired legs, and yes he did have a much tougher time getting anything done than in his first game. But the entire Avalanche team looked absolutely, positively awful. And neither of Forsberg's minuses was on him, especially not the empty net goal. Give him a couple of games to get up to speed. In the Olympics it took until the 4th game (I think) for him to really start to look like himself. And this is an even higher level of competition. The fact is that he has looked very good so far under the circumstances.

Or how about the Pens and Flyers, who are good at winning games and fights?

Pretty sad how so many people here are crying about this. Go watch some basketball if you can't stomach this kind of thing. They actually allow fighting in hockey, meaning things like this can happen. Used to happen all the time too, especially in Detroit.

Fighting is completely useless. The only thing pathetic is players that actually think they help their team when they get an instigator and 5 minutes in the box. I'll take a good hit over a fight any day of the week.

Washed up? Dude has been dominating everytime he's set his f***ed up feet on the ice in the SEL the last couple of years. Last time he was in the NHL he almost singlehandedly got the Avs into the playoffs and was a big part of them getting to the 2nd round. In the Olympics 2010 he was one of very few bright spots in the game where Sweden was eliminated against Slovakia. Cash grab? He's been playing for FREE for Modo in the SEL. And by FREE, I mean as in getting payed NO MONEY. Not only a little bit of money. NO. MONEY. Now he has signed a ******* 1 million dollar contract. Guess what, I'm sure he'd play for zero dollars if it was allowed. If this was about money he probably would have saved himself about 10 operations on his foot and just signed for a KHL team or something. He is doing this for himself. Because he loves to play hockey. And maybe a little bit to prove to people like you that he ISN'T washed up and that he still has hockey in him.

Not a great call..

Most important part of the sentenced bolded. He's a rookie, he's going to suck at times. He was pretty decent when he first came up, he's just in a bad funk (along with most of the team lately). If he still sucks ass with the team a few years from now, then there might be an issue. But right now the kid needs some slack. He's not terrible, he's been serviceable for the team, and that's all we can ask for our young ones.

Yup. Its the same concept as the Ducks. When a chippy dirty team doesn't receive the retaliation they expect/desire they try to draw even more by getting dirtier, which allows the more talented team to take over.

Broons are looking pretty borderline dirty. Lots of late hits, and hitting guys that are already down.

those were the days ehh? I spend the entire wings game hoping for a fight only to be let down every game, I gurantee a tv viewership increase, and attendence increase if they grow balls. I know ive personally abstained from buying tickets for the last 2 years because of this. i know i wont change anything but, its just so unfun. and dont tell me that veiwers dont love fights, how many people left the coliseum last night disappointed? the only people that should be suspended imo isfor the sucker punch, and the leaving the bench bs.

It all started last game with a bordlerine hit by Talbot on Comeau. Martin went after him and in a blow out game tempers just got heated after that. Two teams with more then enough guys willing to fight and with bad blood. Anyone who calls this disgraceful or bad for hockey is a complete hypocrite, this is no different from the wings avs back in teh day really in those big brawls

both teams should be proud of themselves. the nhl won't call penalties with consistency, so these two highly esteemed and honorable teams use their highly regarded reputations to point out the flaws in the referees. plus, i don't give a s***....a good beatdown on s***tsberg is always in order.
