Probably something to do with the team finally not letting in 3-4 goals a game. Hopefully they keep it that way.

    Forsberg Joins Avalanche

It was the 2nd night of a back-to-back, against one of the best teams in the NHL after not playing a real game for almost a year before yesterday. Of course he's gonna have some tired legs, and yes he did have a much tougher time getting anything done than in his first game. But the entire Avalanche team looked absolutely, positively awful. And neither of Forsberg's minuses was on him, especially not the empty net goal. Give him a couple of games to get up to speed. In the Olympics it took until the 4th game (I think) for him to really start to look like himself. And this is an even higher level of competition. The fact is that he has looked very good so far under the circumstances.

Or how about the Pens and Flyers, who are good at winning games and fights?

Pretty sad how so many people here are crying about this. Go watch some basketball if you can't stomach this kind of thing. They actually allow fighting in hockey, meaning things like this can happen. Used to happen all the time too, especially in Detroit.

Fighting is completely useless. The only thing pathetic is players that actually think they help their team when they get an instigator and 5 minutes in the box. I'll take a good hit over a fight any day of the week.

    Forsberg Joins Avalanche

Washed up? Dude has been dominating everytime he's set his f***ed up feet on the ice in the SEL the last couple of years. Last time he was in the NHL he almost singlehandedly got the Avs into the playoffs and was a big part of them getting to the 2nd round. In the Olympics 2010 he was one of very few bright spots in the game where Sweden was eliminated against Slovakia. Cash grab? He's been playing for FREE for Modo in the SEL. And by FREE, I mean as in getting payed NO MONEY. Not only a little bit of money. NO. MONEY. Now he has signed a ******* 1 million dollar contract. Guess what, I'm sure he'd play for zero dollars if it was allowed. If this was about money he probably would have saved himself about 10 operations on his foot and just signed for a KHL team or something. He is doing this for himself. Because he loves to play hockey. And maybe a little bit to prove to people like you that he ISN'T washed up and that he still has hockey in him.

    Best hotel for wings games?

Hi folks. =) Forum newbie but long-time wing nut here! My wife and I will be celebrating our 5 year anniversary this month and we have decided to do so by fulfilling a long-time dream of mine, seeing a Wings game at the Joe. We live in Dallas, so we thought it would be fun to make the trip out for the stars/wings game on the 24th. Anyway, we've been researching nice hotels and it seems like our choices boil down to the Westin Book Cadillac and the Marriott at the Ren Center. Do any of the locals have a strong opinion one way or another on which of those two hotels would be the best choice? We won't be renting a car (since we don't have a permit to carry a weapon in other states...i kid i kid.). =) Thanks in advance & can't even tell you how fired up we are to finally get to see a game at the Joe! edit: It looks like the Atheneum is a good option as well.

McCarty kneed the s*** out of Claude while he was down, if that is not trying to hurt a player I don't know what is.

He has to re-think whether or not he wants to be part of the NHL? Just take your toys out of the sandbox and go home. And don't forget to turn out the lights on your way, you whining douchebag. Geez...now we know that Sid gets it honest.

There is no more WWF. The goons who fight for the hell of it are often in the heat of the moment and are trying to protect players. Gillies has done that numerous times. Every now and then, however, things get carried away. Only way to prevent these things is to get rid of fighting altogether. You can't have it both ways. And Milbury beat a guy in the stands with his ******* shoe. Who the hell is he to talk about shameful actions?

So Stuart can give Homer 75 crosschecks? I wonder if we can do that to one of their players with impunity?

Anyone else getting REALLY sick of these unforced behind the back no-look passes? It always looks neat when it works, but honestly what is the point? So unnecessary.

I just went out from california for a game and stayed at the westin book cadillac. It was very nice and very classy. The room service food was really good as well and they had a free fitness center which was really nice.

You know, say what you will about the fighting and what was classy or not, but the Isles have been walked on all season long. They stood up for the perception of Johnson and Fleury laughing at the DiPietro situation. (as laughable as it was...) They took exception to the hit on Comeau. Not to mention they scored 9 goals and their rook looked pretty good in net (2 goals given up on 5 minute majors) Three of their players went to 20+ goals last night. Right or wrong, this team stood up for themselves last night, put on a show, and made the Penguins look like the foolish ones.

    Isles vs Pens

I'm glad others have said it. People saying this was disgraceful made me refer to one of the most epic games in Wings history, Avs vs Wings March 26, 1997. How would that not be the same embarrassment? What would be the difference? McCarty and the rest of the team avenged the draper hit. AND, McCarty sucker punched Lemieux but yet nobody called him a gutless turd... I think these games like this, seeing bad blood boil over, are absolutely awesome to see. I am sick of all sports teams being buddy buddy with each other, like NBA teams giving love to each other after games, NFL the same thing. I don't want my team to like the opponent at all! I dunno. I don't think this game was an embarrassment. I think hockey needs this stuff once in a while.

I agree. Kenny is a great businessman, and that was just business. You can't let your emotions interfere in business matters, or you won't get too far.

If a trade is in the works, I'd rather Hollad keep the draft picks and trade prospect(s) - Musak, Emmerton, Kindl, Abdelkader to name a few. Unless, one of the trade opportunities is a Weber or a Suter (which is highly unlikely). EDIT: I think Wings need a goalie more than a defensemen.
