    3/14 GDT : Red Wings 0 at Ducks 4

Freaking staggers me that Nyquist, who showed so much effort, was sent back to GR while Emmerton does absolutely stuff all out there EVERY SINGLE NIGHT. He's not quick, he's not physical, he doesn't have much skill, he's freaking invisible out there. Nyquist made some mistakes and was pushed aside too often, but man he played with some heart and he at least TRIED to make things happen. It's a joke that we have so many guys floating and not even putting in an effort and the one guy that did got demoted. Way to send a strong message Babcock.

I am pretty sure they stopped caring what Babcock thought 3 years ago.

Run up the score Ducks!! I want this Wings 'team' to be embarrassed.

Because it wasn't the Red Wings.

It wasn't Holmstrom in front of the opponent's goalie.

This teams doesn't need a call out...it needs to get healthy. Everything else will fall into place once that happens.

As a matter of fact, remember when there were Blackhawks fans out the ying yang the last couple years seeking the same validation when their team was doing well? Wonder where they ran off to.

I realize that many people on this forum weren't born yet when the Red Wings were a bad team. There's a great deal of pride in the accomplishments of one's team, especially when it is improvement over the recent past. After a number of good years, one tends to take it in stride and expect that the prior results will continue, whereas teams with a history of falling short will show their excitement over small achievements. And so, in many ways, the Wings fans of today are like adults who are so busy striving for the Big Prize that we fail to stop and appreciate the lesser accomplishments that we achieve on our way to the Big Prize. And the Blues fans are like children who still announce to the entire household, "I made poopoo in the potty!"

Haha! An "article" from a website called "obnoxious fan" that only has three total articles (one of which rips the Blackhawks) and you want us to believe this was done by a Wings fan? Atleast we now know your name Cajanek...or should I say, Bruce Mason. Get a life. Stop looking for big brother's validation.

#93 needs to sit for a few games. Get #14 back in there. Most of our guys look real bad.

The Blues are in the driver's seat

My post really wasn't about an "opinion", I was merely trying to make a point, one you obviously missed. The over-all theme of the point I was trying to make has to do with success, which the Wings have an abundance of, and your teams' lack there of (even when your expectations were high, probably even higher than now). Now let me help you understand it a little better through your homer vision, which is probably the only way you'll comprehend so please bare with me. Just for arguments sake, let's talk about baseball for a moment. Now I know the Tigers are not even in the same league, let alone division as the Cards', but could you imagine a Tigers' fan coming over to a Cardinal's forum BRAGGING about how the Tigers MIGHT win a division title? Even with a much improved Tigers team, considering all the success the Cards' have had it would be laughable, and for good reason! Yankee fans' have a reason to be cocky Cardinal fans' have a reason to be cocky Patriot fans' have a reason to be cocky Giants fans' have a reason to be cocky Laker fans' have a reason to be cocky Red Wings fans' have a reason to be cocky The Blues being 7 pts. ahead of the Wings, or even possibly being a top seed ARE NO REASON TO BE COCKY. Now considering for how long the Red Wings have been taking your asses to school, I can't believe Blues' fans haven't learned this lesson yet! If you say so ;p

To protect the players so they aren't individuals but instead a group. Otherwise the general managers could just do what they want without the players and their families and lives in mind.

Very cool. That graph really shows how teams have gone throughout the season. Hint: Mouse over your team's name in the left-hand column to see where they are on the graph.

    Call the team out

hmmmmm You mean the John Tortorella who hasn't taken a team out of the first round since the lockout? The John Tortorella who has missed the playoffs entirely two of the last 4 years? The John Tortorella who has taken the Rangers to a grand total of 12 playoff games during his tenure, while going 4-8 in those games? Who cares how he inspires?

    Call the team out

Exactly, additionally it means that teams have to focus their best defensemen on Pavel and so each line below gets to play with less defensive pressure against them. The impact of everyone not having to play above their roll/ability when Pavel and Lids are back cannot be underestimated.

Couldn't disagree more. First, regardless of if they can be replaced there is a problem anytime you have 7 regular players out of your lineup. It messes with the team chemistry (that is why teams are often wary about moves at the trade deadline unless they need to change the chemistry), also you are talking about 1/2 of your regular defensive lineup that has to have an effect on a team especially one playing in front of a career AHL goalie (even if he is playing really well - you just assume it won't last). Second, Cleary should be out but of his knee but can't and is playing severely hobbled. Third, did you really compare Letang to Lids in any degree? Forth, as mentioned above Joey played well while Jimmy was hurt but no one would think of giving him a couple year contract and going with him as your starting goalie. The team knows this even if they feel comfortable with how he is currently playing careerwise he is not a NHL starting goaltender and that affects how a team plays in front of him. Finally, dismiss Bert all you want but Babs was raving about him before got hurt and the team thought he was playing great enough to give him a two year contract and raise his pay (they obviously don't think he is that "easily replaceable"). Bottom, you don't just swap out 7 players including your two best and your starting goaltender and that not have an enormous impact.

    Call the team out

At the risk of sounding like Eva, Hudler hasn't been nearly as bad as people are making him out to be. The guy has put up 42 points so far this season, half of which are goals. Are some of them luck or the result of good linemates, of course. However, name one NHL'er who doesn't get lucky goals or benefits from playing with good linemates. s***, Z scores some terribly lucky goals. His off-angle shots always magically go in and sometimes they tend to fall when he's in his worst slumps. Again, I'm in the same boat with you as Franzen. Cleary hasn't been himself much of the season either, but I expect way more out of Franzen than I do #11.

I am not disagreeing necessarily with your statement... nor am I necessarily agreeing with it. I just want to point out the irony of your statement. Also a possible new meme. Says, "I really hope its true...hockey needs less of these prima donna douchebags." has an avatar of Don Cherry.
