    Pav's "trip" on Toews?
Abby thrown face first into the boards by Seabrook in the 1st while on a PP?
Kindl called for interference and then later in the first a Wing was interfered with even more so with no call?
Consistency is all we ask for.

LOL....guys....the worst part about that wasn't that it was a penalty in general, but it is that he was called for tripping.
Not only does he not trip him, but he hits him about 1.5 seconds after the puck is gone so that isn't interference either.
    That isn't a penalty.

pretty sure you're wrong.. either that or nhl.com's box score mixed up sharp and toews which I wouldn't doubt. but, pav's only penalty from that game is:
14:23 DET Pavel Datsyuk : Tripping (Patrick Sharp)

Does anyone know if the same refs will officiate an entire series?
If so, the inconsistency is inexcusable.
    I forgot the biggest gaff:
Hjarlmarsson hit on Franzen in Game 3 (no penalty) vs. Franzen hit on Hjarlmarsson in Game 6 (penalty)

The stick on the "slash" appeared to get mostly stick between the hands of Frolik. Frolik did a great job to look like he had broken both hands on the play, but it was a grazing at worst, and a clean stick check at best.
Agree with Crashnburnluder, and this is the largest problem with officiating in this league: gross inconsistency. Call it both ways, or not at all. Call it the same in the first period, second period, and third period. Call it in Game 1 or Game 7. or not at all. When refs get "choosy" about which penalties to call, the result is a tilted playing surface and the comprising of competitive balance.
In a perfect world, the refs should never give penalties where there are none, or miss penalties where there are some. In a perfect world, they would be right all the time, drawing the line consistently, either letting them play or making them pay. This is not a perfect world, and the NHL's officiating has never the greatest. That's why in games of this magnitude I believe until we get a replay/review/challenge system in place for major penalties, penalty shots, and other grievous, game-altering calls, one should avoid calling them unless they are most blatant and obvious.
If that play is called a minor penalty, as it should have been then the Wings have a chance to kill the penalty and the Hawks have the chance to score on the advantage. Instead we got a skills competition out of a half-assed slash that got mostly stick and that decided the game. That is why I respectfully disagree with it being "the right call". If you can't call it consistently, at least err on the conservative side.

And where was Brunner's penalty shot this series when he got the corkscrew in the hands on a breakaway, or when Roszival two-handed Abdelkader's stick out of his hands on a breakaway that was pointed out in a .gif in the last GDT? Therefore, Mr. Fraser, the call was flat out ******* wrong and by this series' standards isn't even a penalty.

Well, there's all the stories of him being a horrible teammate. He sounds like a complete cancer for the locker room. I'm surprised if that was the case, or atleast maybe it was kept down while Lidstrom was still aboard. Maybe when Lidstrom left he thought he could be that jackass again. Anyways, when you're a horrible teammate, can't make a first pass to save your life, turn the puck over because you're scared of getting hit, molasses can track down the ice faster than you; your head coach normally doesn't want to play you. Not anyone's fault but his own. And to add on top of all of that, when he was a healthy scratch he wanted to make it public how much bulls*** it was. Instead of crying to the public, go hit the weight room and grind out some hours of practice so you're ready when given the opportunity. Even Carlo had a better mindframe than Ian frickin White.

To add on to you point, every second breakout pass he made went for icing, and then half of the ones that didn't go for icing went to the other team. He's always afraid of getting smoked i'm guessing.

Absolutely. Look, any direct comparison to Datsyuk is going to sound ridiculous because they will NEVER be another player quite like #13. But if you watched Datsyuk play in that first rookie season (2001-02), Nyquist reminds me a lot of what I saw from Datysuk in those early years. Datsyuk had obvious creativity and puckhandling skills, but he'd string about 2 or 3 ideas together and then would either run out of ideas, run out of time, or get planted on his butt. What made Datsyuk into a world-class star was his work effort, added upper body strength, his dedication to the 2-way game, and the added experience of what he could do with the puck in the NHL. Logic tells you that a 34-year-old Datsyuk can't be as explosive as he was 10 years ago, but his game (like Larionov before him) is so cerebral that I swear there are times he's playing better hockey now than he ever has.
Before this year, Tatar was the player that I thought was most "Datsyuk"-like. Over the past month or so, I've become a huge Nyquist fan. That stick check he does is so similar to Datsyuk's, it's almost as if he taught it to him one-on-one. Time will tell if Nyquist has the additional tools to put it all together, but could you think of a better mentoring situation than playing around 13 and 40?
The idea that we have Nyquist, Tatar, and Jurco, and if two out of those three could become even 70% of what Datsyuk and Zetterberg are, this team could be in better shape than most people predicted.

I agree he is not at Fil's defensive ability YET, but he definitely has the potential.
That shift last night where he stole the puck from Kane TWICE was awesome!!!!

    Not Franzen's fault.
    Not Holland's fault.
The fault lies with Jiri Hudler and Mikael Sameulsson. If Kenny had known that those two useless sacks of s*** weren't coming back, he could have contributed the funds he was planning to use on them to use on Hossa.
