Howard with a great game. For as shaky as he was game 3, he was that much better today. Kept the game close when he had to. Controlled his rebounds for the most part, and had his head on his shoulders. Looked like the Jimmy we loved this season again!!!

I like this idea because it truly signifies that there is finally a goalie that the fans feel has replaced Ozzie.
Hasek-Joseph-Legace none of those guys ever got the crowd chant love from the fans like Ozzie does. They were loved, but Ozzie gets the huge love from Wings fans. Would be nice to share it with Howie now that Ozzie is passing the torch.

Is it just me or is Howard's performance this series reminiscent of Legace's '06 first trip to the playoffs???

My one complaint with Howie all season has been rebound control. He showed it right there.

Defense has been bad. Howard has been mediocore.

While the gung ho spirit is all nice and shiny here, probably very few or none of owners and players are probably going to take much heart to what goes on in a sports fan forum. Very few people, if any, are probably not going to write to owners or take a stand or whatever. This is more of a place to discuss hockey/sport or vent or be illogical or biased at times, so telling somebody off like you did probably isn't all that effective either.

I have an idea for you ... stop watching NHL games, and stop attending NHL games.
In fact stop posting on NHL-related Web sites.
Stop supporting NHL in anyway, then maybe owners and players will realize your dissatisfaction and change the rules so you won't have to endure another NHL shootout.

Now I know it is too speculative to say just take away the extra point for winning in a shootout and call them all ties (since some of them wouldn't have been) because the shootout changes the way teams play in OT.
But I wanted to see what the standings would look like without it. Where if after OT its tied, both teams get 1 point, its a tie.

Atlanta would be in the playoffs, and everything would be different with seeding.
Also there would be less teams that were still in contention for the playoffs as well (especially in the west).
Detroit would be in 7th seed, not 8th, but would only be 1 point ahead of Calgary instead of 2.
I for one really hate the shootout, and this was something I did, just to see how it has changed things.
