Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

Great game overall by the Pistons! Big Ben played fantastic and I was very happy to see that. You know he was bound to break out sometime soon and destroy his opponents. Rip and 'Sheed were great as well. All in all, a pretty entertaining, but physical game (that could be expected though). Hopefully Detroit can keep it up and play more good ball.

I was pleased to see Ginobili not that big of a factor in this game. Hopefully Detroit can keep up the very solid defense the next few games, because they're going to need more games like this.

WAY TO GO DETROIT! KEEP IT UP!!!!!

Ok it's safe to put in Arroyo now.... tongue.gif

haha man, I called into live 97.1 earlier to ask what their opinion was about starting McDyess for the first few minutes over Big Ben just to maybe give them a spark on offense early on. I thought perhaps that Big Bens family problems may be weighing heavy on him and perhaps McDeyss could take some of the burden off. Man was I wrong. Big Ben was a monster tonight, blocking everything early, getting a double double. He was everywhere, goddam am I proud of the team.

That was a great effort by Detroit. Duncan was 5 for 15, worst game in his career in the NBA Finals. The Pistons got a lot more whistles go their way tonight, and for once the Pistons just played through the b/s instead of going beserk and melting down.

The Spurs got off to a fast start with the rest they had coming into this series. That should even out now, with fatigue more even between the teams. Hamilton played great, overcoming everything Bowen could throw at him tonight.

And Ben awoke! There are obviously personal problems slowing him down, but he bounced back big tonight.

For those of us who live out of state, could someone explain what all these personal problems are for Ben Wallace? sad.gif

Sure.

Ben's son had surgery to correct a hernia and apparently wasn't recovering as quickly as hoped. Then, Ben's close childhood friend was killed in a car crash. Both of these things happened in the past couple of weeks. The stories today reported that Ben wore a memorial note on the inside of his shoes in memory of his friend.

The Pistons did to the Spurs what the Spurs did to them in San Antonio. They took over with that big run in the 4th and used some home cooking to seal the deal. This makes Game 4 a big one for both teams as whoever wins Game 4 usually wins the series.

Yea, but you can also look at no team has ever come back from a 2-0 deficit to win it all in the finals. I think that the Stones will have to win all three to have a real good shot at repeating. It would be damn tough for them to win two in a row in S.A.

I think Detroit could win 2 in a row vs the Spurs. I doubt they could run 3 in a row and I highly doubt they could take a game in San Antonio.

We'll see how the teams regroup for Game 4. San Antonio isnt going to come out and take another 4th quarter drubbing

Detroit MUST win the next two games to have a shot at the title...cuz there's no way in heck we can win 2 in a row AT San Antonio to close out the series...

Agreed!

Anyway, I'm going to miss the first few minutes of the game because I have to work, but that's no problem. It'll only be a few minutes. Hopefully the Pistons will come out playing just as good as they did the other night and just everyone play as a team...then win! You know San Antonio is going to come out and try and match their intensity level this time because last time they weren't really what was going to happen.

LET'S GO PISTONS!!!!!!!

I'm withholding being impressed until the Pistons win this game. The Spurs could afford the difference between 3-0 and 2-1 in this series, the Pistons could not. But the Spurs don't want this to go back to even at 2 games a piece. As much as they have to like their chances with home court, they're going to have last year's choke fresh on their minds, and the Pistons will have a lot of confidence. Tony Parker plays about as well in big games as Curtis Joseph does. They can't take any chances. The Spurs want to take care of this thing tonight and get a 3-1 lead. So if the Pistons win, I'll be impressed, because they will get the Spurs' best shot and it will mean a lot more than game three did.

I'm sure they wouldn't actually smash the car.

For one thing, they don't have a gambling license, which they would need were they to collect on the bet.

For another, radio stations don't tend to be like that.

Though I do remember one where a girl put her tongue to a live wire....

For the little bit I've seen of the first half, I thought the Pistons have been playing great! Big Ben hitting that big fade-away near the end of the half was amazing. Then you had Chauncy making a shot with like 2 seconds left on the shot clock. Sheed's been hittin' his 3-pointers, which is good and we're really making it hard for Ginobili to get in the lane.

That last play with Ginobili, that definitely should've been a foul on him. LB, Sheed, Big Ben, and everyone on the Pistons' bench was in rage at that call. Other than that, from what I've seen (had to work until 10), they seem to be playing great! Hopefully they can keep it up!!

LET'S GO PISTONS!!!!!!!!!!

Edit: Off topic, but hey, what the hell -- happy birthday, MattCorpolongo! thumbup.gif

What a clinic. Where's Duncan? Ginobili? Parker? This is on pace to be the worst blowout the Spurs have ever faced in the Finals. The national media is taking a big sh** right now. What will Tim Legler write tomorrow morning?

If the Pistons lose the next two, this will still be a rewarding Finals for me. Just watching the Pistons show how f**king good they can be against a great team. This team was no fluke last year, and they're no fluke this year. They are the real deal.

THIS is Detroit basketball. The first two games of this series I could barely watch, it was so awful. After the last one and especially this game, I'm realizing why I love this team so much. Everyone is playing unselfishly, and they're keeping the Spurs scoring way down.
