Detroit Pistons (and NBA) Playoff Thread

Anyone else hate this 2-3-2 format for the games? In a way I think it actually favors the road team, if the road team can win 1 game even 2 in the first 2 games on the road and they have 3 at home and just take care of business there....

I just think it's funny that people act like the Spurs had some tough battle to get to the finals and the Pistons had a cake walk through easy and injured opponents.

Tonight's the first game of the series, and hopefully I'll be able to stay up for all of it(or at least most of it). You know the Spurs will be ready to go, after having like a week off? Hopefully the Pistons will come out strong and play good and smart basketball.

LET'S GO PISTONS!!!!!!!!!!

Sorta what I said on the previous page. I like this format for the Pistons...if we split or take both in San Antonio, the series is over...we won. If we we lose both in San An, then you got a better shot at going ahead in the series with three straight at home than if it was otherwise...

I hate the 2-3-2 format when the team I'm rooting for has the 3 home games. The problem is that no team ever has won all three of those middle home games except for the Pistons last year. That was the first time it ever happened. So the team that opens the series at home can drop one of the first two and still expect to have a good chance at winning one of three on the road. Then they can come home and win in 6 or 7.

Bowen is a tremendous defender, by the way. The only small forward who compares is, ironically, Prince. I don't think the Spurs can matchup with Prince. But they have enough team defense with Duncan down low to cause Prince problems.

The Spurs beat teams with significant injuries too, but for whatever reason, nobody talks about it. The problem with the Pistons is that they historically have done just enough to win. They play their best games when they have their backs against the wall. It gives the impression that they're not all that good. I'll say this, though: If they win this series, it will permanently silence the doubters. This Spurs team is really good.

One thing Detroit has going for it tonight is a chance to catch the Spurs off guard. They've been known to blow a home game or two. They're reading the press clippings and everyone's saying how great they are. They've had a long rest. Detroit might be able to steal one tonight. We'll see.

5:18 3rd quarter...is this where it all falls apart?

Feels like it. The Pistons are missing some good looks. The good news is they're getting some.

Rasheed has blocked how many of Duncan's shots? Amazing. They have to do something about him on the boards, though. He's grabbed like a hundred rebounds.

I don't think the ABC guys are showing bias at all. I have no problem with Michaels or Hubie Brown.

I might have a different perspective if we weren't losing, but everytime anyone on San Antiono makes a shot, Hubie Brown is making moaning noises.

For a game against a rested Spurs team on their home court, this really isn't a terrible game for the Pistons. They can play much better than this. The defense by the Spurs has been great, but the Pistons got more open looks than I might have expected. Adjustments will come and the Pistons have plenty of room to improve.

Rasheed's defense on Duncan has been very impressive.

Well I thought Detroit should have taken this one with the Spurs being rusty (at least they were in the first half).

Hung with them for three quarters (above them in the first) then they lost all their gas.

Well here's hoping for better things in game 2. Rip better hit some of those open shots - Chauncy can't do all the scoring by himself.....

Oh and once again just for good measure... Arroyo sucks... he cost us more points than he's worth. We need Okur back on the bench......

Ben needs to get back to being Ben.

Arroyo needs to just not play.

I wouldn't mind Darko seeing real minutes...he's not that bad, and the Spurs wouldn't know what to expect from him because how much have they really seen of him?
