Heaton 1 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 "Flames GM/head coach Darryl Sutter told CBC's Hockey Night in Canada the chances of a trade were "slim to none" but that didn't stop Dave Lewis, the former Detroit head coach now scouting for the Wings, from taking in his third straight game at the 'Dome since the Olympic break." http://calsun.canoe.ca/Sports/Hockey/2006/...473411-sun.html

norrisnick 1 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 It's a stretch but he could have been watching their opponents. The Nucks are in need of a move with their injuries and just plain slumping all year long, the Blues are known sellers, and the Sharks have yet to get themselves into playoff position. IMO the Wings are far more likely to trade with one of these three than to trade with the Flames in any meaningful way. Conference frontrunners don't make big trading partners (especially with both GMs saying they're essentially tapped out with regards to a big move, could be a ruse but I wouldn't envision Kenny and Darryl swapping key players). peace

Rice 42 Report post Posted March 5, 2006 Theres no way the Wings will trade with the Flames. Lewis is there to scout the Flames' play, not the Flames' players.
Heaton 1 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Theres no way the Wings will trade with the Flames. Lewis is there to scout the Flames' play, not the Flames' players. Yeah that's probably it, but it's more fun to speculate!
Higgy4 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 Plus, the Wings are not short on these type of defensmen. The Wings, if anything, need a physical intimidating presence on the blueline. And Leopold does not fill that role...not even close. No thanks.

I agree 100% They won't make a deal with another contender in the same conf. I cannot understand all these nutty rumors -- salary cap! Not going to happen... MoscowDynamo 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 I think it will be the biggest trade in NHL history! Both teams, each firmly believing that the other is the better team, will simply swap entire rosters...or just trade jerseys. At least that's the leak from a hockey source. Sadly, I think a lot of "Wings' fans" would be far happier with Calgary's players than our own.

Idaho Winger 0 Report post Posted March 6, 2006 (edited) Jordan Leopold, Jordan Leopold, Jordan Leopold come on Holland his name is Jordan Leopold and he'd be great skating next to Chelly. What do you guys think it would cost this organization to land him? Seth, I don't know you my man, but you are notorious for comments like this. Every time you talk about a trade you're like "C'mon Kenny, his name is Dany Heatly, sign him". I know some of that stuff works on your NHL 2K6, but could you stop acting like Holland is an idiot for not trading a draft pick for the other teams top player? It's not that easy. PS Throw the power forward talk you've been doing into that. EDIT: I thought I should throw a little positive in with the negative. Heaton, Norris Nick and ARice89, I have particularly enjoyed your posts. Edited March 6, 2006 by Idaho Winger
