Toughness etc. I think we can do better than Tkachuk.

Nice to see you around here again.

Like who though?

Bert?

and people keep saying Tkachuk is overweight. Is that based on him reporting to camp overweight at the start of last season?

He's got 18 goals and 21 assists on a team that's been mostly terrible this season. He's big, has good hands, and a nasty streak. And I'm guessing the Wings can get him for a lot cheaper than Floppa or Bert, and doesn't have the injury problems they do.

I wouldn't mind Tkachuk coming here for a playoff run.

Exactly, Tkachuk is what this team needs. The overweight thing is stupid, and exactly like you say, based on the start of last season. He's big, strong, punishing, nasty, and can pop in some goals. He don't care about anything but winning a cup. Bert's a shell. Besides the fact he isn't even anywhere near game shape. Keith is almost too good of a fit for this team. Besides, I read that the Wings are all but out of the Goldenberg sweepstakes anyway.

When Matt posted the question Tkachuk or Bertuzzi before I picked Tkachuk and I still do, however I think Bertuzzi is more realistic. He will attract a lot less interest than Tkachuk and should therefor come cheaper (but he will still command a solid return for the Panthers). In conclusion I think Bertuzzi offer a better risk/return ratio than Tkachuk although being more of a gamble.

Did anyone here on TSN last night regarding the going rate for Forsberg?

The latest rumour has Nashville giving up at least ONE 1st round draft choice and Radulov. That is WAY too high in my opinion. If Forsberg was 100% healthy and had no history of injury problems then maybe. But if was Nashville, there's no way I'd do this.

Yeah its absurd. I wanna point out the weight deal last year, where he went for basically a 1st and a 4th. He wasn't having a good year, but STL could argue that was a result of playing on a bad team. So the difference between weight : forsberg is a 4th round pick : Radulov?????

It essentially makes doug weight the equivalent of chopped liver.

That's an awful big gamble for a guy like Forsberg, who is not likely to stay healthy over the course of the playoffs.

My only problem with the Nashville rumour is, will Forsberg waive his no trade clause to play there? In all the reports I've read, Nashville wasn't a team he was willing to go to. This could be an attempt by Nashville to raise up the cost of Forsberg, since they know the Wings are interested.

Either way, if I'm Holland, I don't go anywhere near this asking price.

If Floppa plays like crap, we are certainly out something---we could have gotten a better player in his place!!!!! Were you really serious writing this?

Yes I was serious. And no s***...but hindsight is 20/20. I'll be sure to run my ideas before you from now on to see if it gets the seal of approval...and I thought you liked my youtube videos.

I hear Anaheim is the front runner for Forsberg. I don't want to try and out do the Ducks to get him, he's to much of an injury risk and may leave next year. Besides I don't think getting Forberg is really necessary, we already have Zetterberg.

I like the idea of going after Tkachuk. He's what we need and won't create a media circus like Bertuzzi. I think if we get Keith, we don't have to get rid of Lang. If we're looking to add more grit after Keith, we can trade Williams and/or a 3rd or 4th round pick.

From a non-Eklund rumor site:

According to sources in various NHL cities, these are the rumoured deals on the table for Peter Forsberg:

Nashville has offered a 1st rounder, a 4th or 5th rounder and one of Ryan Parent or Cody Franson.

Anaheim has offered Bobby Ryan and a 3rd rounder in 2008.

Vancouver has offered Alexander Edler, one of their 2nd rounders in 2007 and another 2nd rounder in 2008.

Detroit has offered a 1st rounder, Valteri Filppula and Igor Grigorenko.

Atlanta has offered a 1st rounder, Ondrej Pavelec and Boris Valabik.

http://brochuishockey.blogspot.com/. Foud it on the Flyers website...they aren't enamored with any of these deals. I would be upset if we paid that much for Forsberg, for the reasons that many doubters have already exhausted. Anyway, thoughts on this package?

Over-payment and probably not true.

My guess is somebody is going to pay way too much for Foppa, and I hope it isn't us.

If Forsberg were the player from 6 or 7 years age (you know when he could play for 5 games without injuring himself) he would have been worth this ransom.

Also, if this report is accurate, what the hell is Philly waiting for. I'd make the deal before these GMs come to their senses.

Thanks for that info. Man, I really hope we don't give up Filppula, Grigorenko, and a 1st for Forsberg. It's not worth it.

I agree. You know if Peter doesn't get traded, he's signing somewhere else for next season.

Yeahhh right on!!Let's get ANOTHER soft player teams can push around!!We don't have enough of those yet!!Let Forsberg stay where he is,unless were gonna pick up someone to protect his ass(along with everyone elses ass on this team).I'drather not trade a bunch of player for a liability.Player's will be running him the minute he's in a Wings uni.

Perhaps the worst post I've seen in this topic. While some people may have a dislike of Forsbergs dirty style of play, constant injuries, or just because he used to play for the Av's, you dislike him for a reason that isn't even true. Forsberg is far from soft. He may not drop the gloves, but he's not a wuss either.

Sorry, maybe it was all the dives i've seen him take.Either way,he's basically more of what we already have.He may stick up for himself sometimes, be he won't be the guy sticking up for his teammates, and occasionally dropping the gloves, like a Shanny or Bertuzzi. That's what i'm saying..get a guy who can score and will protect. There are available guys out there that will do that.

Who pretell, other than Bertuzzi (who is a huge risk anyways). And don't even suggest Shanahan, because I didn't see him do anything to Pronger in last years playoffs when he was mowing everyone on the Wings down.
