Flip-check 6 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 One last thing before I go, gotta get some things done before later tonight: http://www.detnews.com/apps/pbcs.dll/artic...0321/1128/rss16 How many years have the Wings been doing this? Any other teams around the league that do the same? I just think it's so damn cool. I mean.. haha, it's like, well, the reverse of being lugged around by your parents for hockey tournaments and games as a kid. If you played. And this is definitely a way to get 'paid back' for that love and time sacrificed. It's also just weird seeing Z with his dad. I kind of wonder what other players' fathers look like, too. Yeah I read this earlier this morning. I read somewhere that this is only the second time they've done this. And if their dads can't come they bring other people. For example, Maltby brought his father-in-law and Cheli brought his kids (probably b/c his dad had a meeting with Jesus). So when are they doing a "take your rabid fan" to work day? EDIT: Hey Flip-check, do you think Hank's dad knows about his literary endeavors? Edited February 14, 2007 by HenrikRules40

I can't remember where I heard this, but supposedly Chelios' dad is meeting the team in Phoenix.

Draper4$1 0 Report post Posted February 14, 2007 I love it when they have the Dads come along for a road trip. they seem tp play better knowing there dads are there watching them I wouldn't say that. Last year during this trip they lost to Atlanta and Florida, then beat Tampa Bay. But nonetheless, I still think it's a great idea!
Zetter is Better 0 Report post Posted February 15, 2007 I read in the hockey news that Zata`s dad taught him to start skating by age 2 and that when Zetter was 15 or 16 he was better than his dad at hockey. Good article, I never knew the Wings did this
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted February 15, 2007 I wouldn't say that. Last year during this trip they lost to Atlanta and Florida, then beat Tampa Bay. But nonetheless, I still think it's a great idea! Yeah, I seem to remember last year's dads' trip being a pretty solid disaster for the Wings, results-wise. Flip-check 6 Report post Posted February 15, 2007 I'm...an...idiot... So long as you don't mess up when handling the health of a patient, you're still gold. And lawsuit free. As for Z's dad... I think Joran not only knows, but resoundingly approves. Off to the side though, I don't think mrs. Zetterberg is all too wild about Hank documenting that side of Swedish life. Imagine why. rwfan007 18 Report post Posted February 15, 2007 if you took a look at the rest of the pictures,Cheli brought his 2 sons Jake and Dean with him. It also shows McLellan and his dad, Rex and Rex Sr. Mike and Mike Sr., Nick and Dad, Kris and Mr. Draper, malts and Maltby's father-in-law. good stuff
toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted February 15, 2007 Definately not the only team to do it. The Penguins did it earlier this year and I know of at least a few other teams that do it regulary, or at least have done it before.

Yeah, almost all the NHL teams do this or something like it with their families.

Flip-check 6 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Question....did anyone else see my poor Hanks smile? What happened to his teeth Butttt....he's still the most beautiful man in the world I can answer someone honestly this time! He got high-sticked, is the word. He'll be better soon. On a sidenote, I can't get over there being two "#40" superfans on the same forum. I'd be inclined to start taking fight bets--if I were a gambling man. Yzermania19 1 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 Motivation? Good move, Wings management. I what they do if the player has a dead father. I don't imagine they take them, in that case. Uhh, no, I would imagine not. I guess they would bring some significant male figure in their lives, like a mentor or someone. Last year Shanny brought his father-in-law along and this year Nik Kronwall brought his older brother. Shanny's dad died when he was around 19 and Nik's dad died when he was 11. Maltby and Schneider also brought their fathers-in-law this year - both brought their dads last year. Besides, it's not just dads on the trip - Chelios has his two sons, Dean and Jake, on the trip with him. Apparently they're meeting up with Cheli's dad Gus in Phoenix. Flip-check 6 Report post Posted February 17, 2007 For some reason I was thinking that Cheli's dad was dead... I'm not sure where it is I got that idea. The internet movie database apparently has a bio for Cheli though. Or should I say, Christos Tselios, son of Constantine, son of.. some other Tselios with a badass foreign name.
