Esposito on the XM: Wings looking at Tkachuk

Tkachunky is a worthless piece of trash, and he has no place on this team. He'll make the team WORSE just by being present. I wouldn't take him even if it WAS the last option.

Even if he offered you dibs on free donuts that he might take with him from St Louis if he comes here?

Tkachuk has been improving and I'd like him in a Wings uni...I'd be pretty stoked with Guerin too though. If you point out that Tkachuk has dropped off, dont forget Guerin only scored 13 goals his last year with Dallas.

Wasn't he injured for much of the year?

Ummm...Guerin has a Cup.

Isn't that why we brought in Robitaille and Hasek??? KT might need to go to a contender to get what he feels he deserves. I say get Big Bert and KT. That's some serious size/grit.

no, guerin wasn't, you're thinking of Tkachuik. Guerin played 70 games simply just couldn't score goals last year, for whatever reason.

I remember they lost a lot of money with Modano at some kind of share business (or something) during the lockout. That's why both of them sucked the last whole season, because they were so depressed. Now they just are back on track.

My trade preference:

1. Smyth...I know this isn't going to happen but its ok to wish right?

2. Guerin...good scorer, fits the shanahan mold, cheaper salary would more likely allow for another player to fit under the cap.

3. Tkachuk...a little worried about his production the last few seasons and has a tendency to take penalties at the worst time. Big salary

4. Roberts...age is a factor but he is supposedly in Chelios shape.

5. Bertuzzi...hasn't skated in months. Highly doubt he will be anywhere near 100% healthy at any time this season. Big salary.

I would think the Wings will get one of these primary players and then a Lapointe, Mayers or other role player. jmho

So do Gilbert Dionne, Pavel Datsyuk, and Tomas Sandstrom. You'd be hard pressed to find anyone who considers those guys playoff performers.

Yeah, the Sandstrom analogy is pretty short sighted. I think a lot of people only think he played one year, when he was with the Wings. He was actually a pretty solid playoff performer, but his last couple of seasons saw him fall off a bit. And Guerin has been nowhere near the disappointment that Dats has been. You're grasping here buddy.

I really don't know what you're talking about. If you think I was saying Guerin over Tkachuk because he has a cup, then you read me wrongly. I was just sticking up for both of them in terms of playoffs. I think everyone expects Yzerman-like playoff numbers from every potential Wings player, which is kind of ridiculous.

Tkachuk is a playoff no-show. We don't need anymore forwards that are going to stop their production come April. I think Guerin is the only blue that has a chance of ending up here, and I'm not so sure about that (though I hope Kenny can make it happen)

Keith has something like 53 pts. in 81 games. Guerin has 48 pts. in 96 games.

Hey, what about Big George? He's on the block now. I'd take him over Bertuzzi, at least he is healthy and would cost less.

George plus Guerin/Tkachuk is the formula for playoff success, doesn't matter which one of the Blues we get.

I'd love to see Tkachuk in Detroit. He's exactly what we need. We already have scorers and playmakers... what we don't have is space for those guys to work with. All a team needs to do is get physical to shut that down. With someone like Tkachuk, we let our other guys do their jobs. Not to mention that he can score on his own quite well too...

Just chipping this in here...a Pens fan on hfboards posted this, and I thought it was interesting concerning Tkachuk. This guy talked to Phil Bourque, who is one of the radio announcers for the Pens, and here is what he had to say about Guerin and Tkachuk.

I asked him about Guerin and Tkachuk. He said he knows both going back to their Massachusetts roots, and said if Shero is remotely concerned about locker room chemistry, he doesn't want Tkachuk. He's said Tkachuk's been a pain in the ass of every locker room he's been in since he pretty much broke into the league. Guerin, he said, is a much different story - said he's a fantastic team guy, a hilarious presence in the locker room.

Not sure if that's true about Tkachuk, but if it is then there is no way I'd want to see him become a Wing. I'd rather Holland not trade for him anyhow, but even more so if that is true.

K-P Wings that was hilarious assumption. :D . And yes if Keith is the cheapest option than yes I say grab him, but I think as days go, the price of players will go down, as reports say. Its just hard to say who were gonna get, what were gonna end up giving for these players. I just cant wait anymore. Just bring on the toughness as some would like to say.

Just doing what I can. :P

um, Modano had 77 points last season, not exactly a "depressed" year. Again, do your homework buddy. You're probably thinking of the 03-04 season.

Weird Al say:

Your butt is wide, well mine is too

Just watch your mouth or Ill sit on you

The word is out, better treat me right

cause Im the king of cellulite

Ham on, ham on, ham on whole wheat, all right

My zippers bust, my buckles break

Im too much man for you to take

The pavement cracks when I fall down

Ive got more chins than chinatown

Well, Ive never used a phone booth

And Ive never seen my toes

When Im goin to the movies

I take up seven rows

Because Im fat, Im fat, come on

(fat, fat, really really fat)

You know Im fat, Im fat, you know it

(fat, fat, really really fat)

You know Im fat, Im fat, come on you know

(fat, fat, really really fat)

Dontcha call me pudgy, portly or stout

Just now tell me once again whos fat

A couple of things to remember or to note:

1) KT has a no-trade clause

2) According to sources, Guerin doesn't have an actual no-trade clause, but will have a say on where he goes

3) KT is in the best shape of his life

4) KT has been playing CENTER since Murrays hiring, not wing

5) Wings need a tough power forward

-Right now Guerin is the better player, but KT may be the bigger impact player. . and I agree with someone above that Mayers would be a good depth player to add. Hes tough as nails and he has tons of speed.

Both will fetch the same price I believe. . a first rounder and a forward prospect who is about to make the jump to the NHL. If no one gives that up, they won't go anywhere.
