Andy Pred 48 337 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) Another thread mentioned what'll happen when Sammy is back, but a couple more weeks down the line when all his roster could be available to him coach Babs has a few tough calls to make. Not only who gets scratched but how to balance the lines out as well. The general opinion on the boards seem's to be that we should leave the top line as it is. So how will Babs deal with the other 3 lines? The D seem's to be pretty much set with Lilja being the 7th blueliner. Lang could well have a field day in the playoff's again with Calder and Bertuzzi as his new wingers, this would give us the players to have a more scoring threat on the 3rd line and the 2/3 left of the old grindline probably being the 4th checking line, but who fills in where? My guess is that Hudler is gunna be the unlucky 13th forward more often than not but Babs may surprise us all and scratch someone we wouldn't expect. Samuelsson could be the guy, he isn't the type to play on the 4th line persay and with Cleary having a better, shall we say, work ethic he could get the nod for 3rd line wing duties over Sammy. The coach holds Filppula in high regard and I see the rookie keeping his place and maybe centrering the 3rd line as well. All will be more clearer in the weeks ahead but with the 2 new guys coming in all of a sudden our team looks that much better and dare I say more equipped for a longer run at Stanley this year. BadAndy 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Zetterberg-Datsyuk-Holmstrom Calder-Lang-Franzen Maltby-Draper-Bertuzzi Clearly-Filpula-Samulesson I don't really see a '4th' line in there. Everyone of those lines combos can create chances and put the puck in the net. Bertuzzi and Holmstrom could be swapped between draps and Dats lines. I think both could work on either line. The Calder-lang-Franzen line has been exceptionally good. I had my doubts on Calder coming here, but he has been very good and does provide an edge that this team has needed all year. Maybe an embarassment of riches. "Bad Andy"
Rmac111 2 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) Bad andy I think you are close, but the lines will more likely look like this Datsuyk-Zetterberg-Holmstrom Calder-Lang-Bertuzzi Maltby-Draper-Franzen Clearly-Filppula-Samulesson Edited March 4, 2007 by Rmac111
metalwinger_13 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 we also have to remember that kopecky might be back too. i havent heard anyword on him being out res of year liek they were thining but still thats a what a 3rd injured player that returns along with bert and sammy?! homer/ hank/ dats sammy/ lang/ bert malts/draps/franzen calder/ flip/ cleary or even flip sammy and calder.. but this is going to be fun with line when everone gets back to healthy trying to find the right combination to have decent grit or size and scoring on the each line but im excited to see how we are with bert heathy and hopefully back to his old self!!! arin 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 They'll probably leave Kopecky on IR even if he gets 100% until there's room on the roster(next season)..
Zion 93 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 Rmac is correct, and those are GREAT lines!
rwfan007 18 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 (edited) its a good problem to have when you have so many options. this way, everyone will have to perform if they want a spot in the line-up. Homer-Dats-Zetts Franzen-Lang-Bert Malts-Draper-Calder Cleary-Flip-Sammy which leaves Huds, Kopecky on the bench I would like to see mule, langer, and bert on the same line. that would be a big, tough line to stop. Bluedevils_13 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 I always thought some sweet lines would be if they ever broke up our first line... Flip-Z-Homer Franzen-Datsyuk-Hudler Tuzzi-Lang-Calder Sammy-Drapes-Cleary Now obviously that will never happen, but wed get some sweet scoring depth with those lines, and they would all be decent defensively except maybe Lang's line. WingsownNHL 0 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 i like rmac's as well, unless kopecky is ready to go Holmstrom - Datsyuk - Zetterberg Calder - Lang - Bertuzzi Maltby - Draper - Franzen Cleary- Filpula - Kopecky would be ideal Samuelsson is to much of a streisand to have and impact in the playoffs. eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted March 4, 2007 What I would do: Hudler/Zetterberg/Holmstrom Filppula/Datsyuk/Bertuzzi Calder/Lang/Franzen Maltby/Draper/Cleary Sammy could take the place of either Malts or Cleary for a more offensive look. Kopecky unfortunately gets sat. Next season he should be a regular though.
