Whats up with Maltby

He would have drawn the instigator penalty last night. Ken and Mickey mentioned that he'd have gotten in extra trouble since he wore a visor-- I don't know what that was about.

You = angry at world.

You = Angry at lots of people on LGW :P

maltby sucks :)

That's cute.

I didn't know Maltby took a stick around his eye that either reduced his vision or almost ended his career. If that's the case, understandable why he rarely drops the gloves.

I have never liked his style of play much (agitate, then creep away from dropping the gloves), but that was before I read about this eye injury thing. His better years have passed unfortuantely I think, but back in the day he was pretty good at it.

Nevertheless, his role in killing penalties is still pretty valuable.

Malts isn't supposed to fight, Malts is just there to crawl under the other teams skin, and have them try and start a fight. and in the old days he'd do that, then D-mac would fight the guy >.>

Exactly.

Malts has been playing great and he`s been scoring lately too. I guess hes getting his game on for the play-offs?

Malts in my oppinion is valuable to this team, but in the past few games I have seen especially against Chicago, and Nashville last nigh5t he's backed down from a few fights. I know Malts can hold his own, he has proved it before. But my question is why is be backing down.

Because he doesn't fight well. He just stirs the shiite and backs down like a woman.

So Maltby doesn't fight..big whoop.

The guy agitates and antagonizes the hell outta players and it's the second they drop their gloves to want to fight him in which he's done his job. He's all about getting opponents riled up, and drawing penalties towards them. He doesn't have to fight to be valuable, it's not his style.

Well said. Atleast there was one sensible post in this thread.

Would you say this if he played for the Blues? :P

You darn right I would.

I have nothing against Maltby, but I've noticed that he has less and less of a role on the team. When Bert comes back and with the addition of Calder he's just moving farther and farther down the lines.

I hope he stays and has a place, it just seems to me like he's being edged out little by little.

Maltby can still occasionally bother people and plays solid D, and there's no question he's the best in the league at skating around with a pissed off look on his face no matter what's going on. He can still be an asset but he's going to lose his remaining effectiveness soon and frankly I'd rather see one of the young guys take his place in the lineup than re-sign him next year.
