New to hockey : What is offsides?

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

I apologize if this has been brought up on the forum before...

I, of course, know what is offsides is, but DOES KRIS DRAPER?!?!

I love Drapes, nicest guy in the world, works his tail off, but MAN, could he PLEASE stay onside for an entire game, JUST ONCE!

I say this in a fun-loving fashion so don't bag on me for bashing a Wing... only Wing I'll bash is Langer, and i know most of you love him and his laxed effort, so I'll save it.

PS. love you Drapes!

Offside is when an attacking team enters the opponent's zone before the puck itself is across the opponent's blue line to be in the zone to begin with.

thanks for the respectful reply, but please read the rest of my post beside the subject title.

your title of this thread is what confuses everyone to thinking that you don't know what offsides is. Maybe you should have titled this thread as "Can someone tell me why Draper can't stay onside?" and you would have less confused LGWers in this thread.

Oh and I know what offsides is. Its when the defense jumps across the line of scrimmage before the ball is hiked. Penalty is 5 yards and repeat the down.

i dont get why everyone has to bash these threads.

Agreed, this should be a post in a GDT not an entire topic and i am ashamed to be a part of it

you say its an entire topic like its taking up valuable space. let me know when we run out. if youre gunna be a jerk about it then leave it alone.

anyway, i notice too that draper goes offsides alot, but sometimes its not his fault. plenty of times the player with the puck will make a move right before the blue line, instead of dumping it in or getting it across, and it throws everyone else off because they are expecting it to enter the zone.

off·side (ôf'sÄ«d', Ã…Âf'-) Pronunciation Key

adv. & adj.

1. Sports Illegally ahead of Peter Forsberg in the attacking zone.

2. Hockey Illegally beyond the blue-line before Peter Forsberg gets a chance to set up in the opponents zone, uncontested.

That is awsome! I bet you got that from wikipedia :P:clap:

How's this for an attempted on topic reply... Maybe Draper is just too darn fast for his line mates or anyone. The guy has some wheels and I'd rather him take the chance that he can be onside for a nice break.

Trade Draper for Tucker next year.

Unless Toronto hires Mike Milbury or Mike O'Connell, this trade will never happen. No sane GM would actually do it.

No offense to Draper, but Tucker is higher value than just Draper. Despite how much many hate him and hate the way he plays, he is a good player.
