NEWSFLASH!! NEWSFLASH!!!

Announcement from Major League Baseball!!!

The Commish of MLB has announced that since baseball games take so long to play and the ware and tear on the pitchers to be so great, that MLB has decided if a game is tied after 9 innings of play, they will play 1 additional inning, if the game is still tied after the 10th inning, they will decide the winner by means of the HOME RUN DERBY!

Commish Selig said that a recent survey of Soccer Moms showed they prefer Home Run Derby's to decide games than actually playing the game itself!!

LMAO  That's freakin hilarious!

 sorry, server hiccups, double post, ignore me at least once when that happens with me, OK? ;)

:D no, the same thing happened to me. this thing keeps on freezing on me.

Well, a lot of things in hockey are determined by an individual. Like penalties...and penalty shots, and stupid mistakes. 1 persons mistake can result in a loss for the whole team. It's just an aspect of the game, like any other. In any case, it does add a lot of excitement to the games, something the NHL could use to draw more fans, even though us who are already fans want to cross our arms and say we don't need anyone else...ha ha.

It would be nice if we could win one though. We are going through quite the dry spell. Ah well. But we still get the point, which would have been the same as the old days that end in a tie...or (the one I hate the most) if we'd have lost in OT. You shouldn't get a point for losing in OT...

yeah, but there's a difference between a penalty shot and a shootout. the penalty shot only occurs when the guy was in all alone anyway. it's the only way to recreate that kind of a scoring chance.

Also, even with this loss, I hope so badly that we end up fourth and get to play Dallas in the first round. Let's see here...

Having to go to western Canada vs. going to Texas

Kipprusoff vs. Turco

Iginla vs. Ribeiro

How are the Stars as good as they are? Their team sucks terribly on paper. I know the game isn't played on paper, but they really don't have many good players. I don't get it.

Ribeiro has impressed me. I'd obviously take Iginla, but I think he's a better player than most people realize.

Id take Dallas over Calgary every day of the week and twice on Sundays. We simply cannot handle Calgarys physicality and Dallas has nobody as potent as the Tanguay-Huselius-Iginla line. That could tear us a new *******.

As for Dallas, we own Turco, and we dominated the game tonight until playing an entire game with 5 D caught up with us and the boys all around stopped playing. Plus us missing Zetterberg and them missing Robidas doesnt even compare.

Not to mention, if we play Dallas, this blown 3 goal lead will be fresh in our minds. Hopefully all things pan out and Detroit ends up 4 vs Dallas at 5.

I'm actually starting to prefer the Stars as well. I wonder from here on out what would have to happen for the Wings and Stars to be a first round match up?

This game tonight could be a blessing in disguise. The Wings own the Preds and they know what they have to do to beat them. HOWEVER, tonight they sat back after a 3-0 score and probably were all thinking to themselves "We own Dallas. We can beat Dallas with one hand tied behind our backs and down a defenseman. Blase blase." This shows them that, although they know how to beat Dallas and are right to play with a ton of confidence against them, Dallas is still a good team that can bite you in the ass if you slack off.

So heres my bold prediction:

The Red Wings end up with the 4th seed, face Dallas in the first round, and because of this game, they dont take Dallas lightly and steamroll right over them playing great playoff hockey like they did in the first 50 minutes tonight.

All right I'm sure there's been a lot of f-bombs and stupid ridiculous posts in here out of anger/frustration which I'm probably thankful to have missed, but here's my 0.02....

Disappointed I am that they blew the lead? Yes.

Am I surprised or stunned? Not really actually. It was the tail-end of a back-to-back game, and the Wings lost one of their defenseman on the 1ST SHIFT OF THE GAME. You just had to think that it was going to catch up to them after a while, being so tired and gassed out. I'm not trying to make up 100 excuses, but let's try to have some degree of fairness and be reasonable here (not calling out anybody in particular as I haven't even been in this thread at all tonight until now).

In the grand scheme of things, the Wings took 3 of 4 points in back-to-back nights against two playoff-bound clubs, and two really good ones at that. Yes, it should've been 4 of 4, but it wasn't. S**t happens. 3 of 4, considering the competiton, is not that bad.

And let's focus on the bigger picture here going into the playoffs: Getting healthy and getting into somewhat of a groove the last 2/3 games, playing with some confidence. Of course I'd like to see the WIngs take the division and have home ice, but there's so little parity between the 1-8 seeds in the Western Conference this year, that it's not going to matter all that much if the Wings go 1 or 4.

As disappointing as this loss is, it's not too big of a deal to me, given the circumstances of the game and last night's game. It's basically just waiting for the playoffs to start in my point of view, then the real worrying begins...

We blew the lead! We blew the lead.

As I related earlier... didn't actually see it, so no comment. Nik remains the Hard Luck Player of All-Time, though.

All I know is I'll take 5 out of 6 against good teams any day of the week. Two wins, one tie is pretty OK. Now all we have to do is hope the boys can get up for the last for snoozers of the season against the Central's basement.

Not to be negative Nelly, but is just as easy to take the opposite view, that the Stars, who the Wings have owned, have finally lost the mental jinx and now have the confidence they lacked.

Nah, they won some lame shootout game last season too, and I think we rattled off four or five straight wins against them before this.

Okay boys, story of my night. I leave for hockey at about 9:15, the score is 3-0. I go to hockey all happy, play great. So I come home late at about 1am, I look on NHL.com, and Detroit LOSES 4-3 in a shootout!

SOMEONE EXPLAIN TO ME WHAT IN THE f***?!
