The Octopus Thrown On the Ice

Rate this topic

Recommended Posts

Last year against the oilers in the playoffs, I remember seeing a dude walking around outside JLA before the game with a plastic grocery bag all knotted up, then I seen the same guy inside during the game, still with the bag, I was thinking to myself, wonder whats in the bag(DUH). Then later in the game I saw him walk down into the lower bowl and pull the octi out and toss it. Point is, I think he just walked in with it in a bag, I asked the usher and he said the guy always does it in the playoffs. BTW, he didnt get kicked out either.

ps. we had STO tickets, so thats why I was able to see all this.

i love it when a fan throws it on the ice and the guy that has to go pick it up gets into it and starts whinging it around over his head. Im hopin in the playoffs someone throws one out there, always gets the crowd into it.

1. You need to do some stretches of your arse hole.

2. Then 1 gallon of KY Jelly.

3. Lube up your hole real nice as well the octopus

4. Have someone assisted you in placing the octopus in your arse hole.

5. When you’re at the game go into the bathroom stall and have someone come in with you so they can assist you in taking it out.

6. Put it under your shirt and walk back to your seats.

:hehe:

 I hope no one tries this one at home. :hehe:

I just thought it was something cool to see a wings fan throw our symbol at an away game. Also, you heard loud cheers everytime we scored and the Columbus fans had to cheer just to cover up the boo's of our fans everytime Feds touched the puck. We have by far the best fans who travel and loyal fans outside Michigan... just saying keep it up...

I was at the game in Columbus, and it felt kind of wrong, when Fedorov got booed everytime he touched the puck , in his own building. If you go to the game as an away team fan, cheer for your team, but don't be Nashille-obnoxious.

I was glad that the home crowd reacted promptly, and drowned the boos out with their cheers every time after the first few minutes.

Kudos to the Jacket fans... way to step it up.

Once again furthers my belief of how classy wings fans really are. People on here should just shut up about how Nashville fans are... you are more often than not... not any better!

I am glad Ken and Paul were giving an earfull about the booing and the stupidity of it on the radio yesterday.

i was gonna say getting kicked for throwing a octopus on the ice is like getting kicked out for throwing your hat on the ice when someone gets a hat trick.and just for that comment my confidence went up even more, looking forward to throwing one on the ice

Except, you are allowed to walk right in with a hat... More often than not, they will not let you walk right in with an octipus.

Have you tried? Know anyone that has? Just wondering.

Nope, but I imagine if you could waltz right into the arena with an octipus slung over your back you would have just as many Octipii on the ice as you would hats after a hat trick is recorded, no?

My final answer is, go for it and let us know how it worked out for you. I for one wouldn't risk getting booted in the playoffs espeically after the $$'s I had to dish out. But that is just me.

I am not against fans throwing them on the ice, but much like scalping in the D... I don't think it is openly accepted by the JLA.

I was at the game yesterday and it was the first game I've been at where an octopus was thrown on the ice. I was so excited and the guy who did it just got up and left since there was such little time left in the game (he probably would've been kicked out anyways). I still don't know how he got it in there since I saw him leaving with a white gift bag and there are no metal detectors at Nationwide. They just have you lift up your jersey or open your coat as you walk in. They also inspect bags so I am still very curious how he was able to sneak an octopus in.

Is what I always wanted to know is how in the hell do they get those things in the building.

Like at Joe Louis, you can't bring things in with you, they pat you down, or you go through the censor thing or whatever. I know a censor wouldn't detect an octupus but still, where do they put them when entering the building lol?

That one yesterday was a pretty big one too! At least a 2 pounder :o

I am surprised our state goverment hasn't devolped a special Octipii tax during the playoffs to help get them out of their self inflicted budget crisis? Hmm, Odd, They could make a fortune.

I was just thinking about him, what his name, the zamboni driver that always twirls the octopi around his head to pump up the crowd. He has been there forever. His name is Al something i think, then a polish name that ends is ski...

That one yesterday was a pretty big one too! At least a 2 pounder :o

From Detroit Red Wings.com - During the 1995 playoffs, Bob Dubisky and Larry Shotwell, co-workers at a meat and seafood retail company near Detroit, tossed a 38-pound octopus onto the ice during the National Anthem prior to Game 1 of the Western Conference Finals. The year after, the duo struck again with a 50-pounder in the Conference Finals. Although the feat received no airtime on the nationally broadcast game, the octopus was proudly displayed on the hood of the Zamboni between periods.

Who ever throws a 50 pound octopus is a hero and is also a great fan :D

eh, in all honesty I don't really like going to away games and seeing 3/4 of the crowd with Wings jerseys on.....it takes away from the excitement and rivalry of the game when almost everyone in audience wants the Wings to win. Sadly, the Wings are the biggest bandwagon team in NHL. Toronto would probably be second.

If they don't make the playoffs, that's not a bandwagon team. They're called diehard fans and Toronto has any thousands.

I bet it all depends on what security guard you run into at the gate...some of them are really cool and I bet would let you bring in a octopus into JLA but then there are others (probably more of them) that wouldent let you, and I would bet that those trash cans at the door have seen more then one octopi in there days...

(i'm just guessing i've never done or seen it done)
