Thoughts heading into playoffs

I have a number of concerns going into the playoffs that I was wondering if any of you are sharing with me.

1) We have a great team, but have they played together long enough? I really wish Kenny would have made the Calder deal in the beginning of the season for the team chemistry. Bert hasn't played much either and we have not had the entire team healthy yet. Have they even put together our 2nd line w/ bert calder and lang with z being out? I dont think so but I'm not sure. I am concernted we might not have the team chemistry that we usually have going into the playoffs.

2) We're playing a canadian team in the first round. I hate playing canadian teams because of a. the travel and b. the fans are crazy. Playing in Calgary will be very tough, especially because they're so good at home. Their fans will be going nuts and will try to rally their team.

Things to be happy about going into the playoffs...

1) It looks like everyone will be healthy and ready to go for Game 1. Thats a good sign.

2) It also seems that Nashville is going to play the Sharks in the first round. This is gonna be one hell of a series and I can't wait to see it. Also, this means one powerhouse team in the west will get knocked out in the first round. I'm rootin for the preds personally, but only cuz we're 6-1-1 against them :P

I don't really know what the point of this post was, I guess I'm just bored but im excited playoffs are coming!

#1 thought: we really out-performed what we were supposed to do this season. whats to think that that trend wont continue in the playoffs. People we have a fantastic team here, we have the best team in the league here. no worries. hakuna matata baby!

Well the main question is are we better equipped for the playoffs than we have been in previous seasons? I would say yes because we have Hasek in net and more depth in the line-up, but just how improved are we?

We def are better this year than last year.

I was at the game in Chicago last night, and I hate what I saw in Lang...dude was totally lazy on almost every shift, under skating, swatting half heartedly on defense...if he can't anchor his line and get hot, we might be looking at another Datsyuk, Lang scoring drought with Zetz shouldering the load,,,which he might not be able to do because he's coming off an injury...

Hmm..

Lang had just as many points as Z last year in the playoffs, and more the year before.

And btw, re:last night's game...Lang was named second star, behind Khabibulin's 56 saves.

I thought Lang played great last night. Probably the best he's played in a few weeks. Hmmmm...

 I agree. Are boys played great despite the unfortunate amount of injuries.

Good thing there isnt a SO in the playoffs, cause we sure suck at them.

 I agree. Why in the hell does Dats not shoot last in SO? It should be so obvious.

Why is it so obvious? If the WIngs shoot first, why wouldn't you want your best player to start the SO out on a strong note? If Dats goes third, and the Wings are down 2-0 going to the final shooter, Dats doesn't even have a chance to rectify things. Is should be obvious. :D

They must be prepared to play without Zetterberg, which means finding Dats and Homer a 3rd winger. Franzen has been good, but could we get a shooter up there? I thought Dats and Flip had good chemistry, as well... maybe give him a shot?

My thoughts....

-It's the playoffs, anything can happen.

-Usually the teams that make it to the finals have most of the breaks go their way, it's never the best ones in the regular season.

-We have a good a shot as anyone to win it all.

We suck in OT as well (3W 8L) and there certainly are those in the playoffs. :P

I get your smiley face, but playoff OT is nothing like regular season OT. There's no comparison between 5-on-5, 20 minute periods until someone scores, and a 4-on-4, 5 minute OT with a guaranteed SO if no one scores.

3-8 in regular season OT's seem pretty irrelevant to me when you compare it to the playoffs. Experience plays just as big of a factor as age does at that point.

If you want a shooter, it's Hudler.

last year we were a better team than edmonton, but they were hungrier.thats what counts in the playoffs.are we hungry enough???

also it kinda scares me to lose games to teams we should be sailing past, injuries or not....but this game how do you shut them down when habi makes 57 saves....
