Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Did he mean the cap will go upto $50 mil next year or in 2 yrs.
detroitdan 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 everyone saying that we will be like Tampa Bay when we have to re-sign Hank in 2 years time is forgetting the fact that the cap went up this year, is going to go up next year, and should go up in the forseeable future...they will be fine...and I don't think Bertuzzi is going to get $5 million again, unless he wins the Conn Smythe (which I would be happy with since we'd win the Cup in that scenario)...I think all 3 of those guys, Dats, Hank and Bert, will be Red Wings for many years to come

DraperFan MN 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Well Hank is worth what now? 10 million? Cmon. C'mon what? If Holland receives information the cap is going up substantially in the next year or two....this deal doesn't look nearly as bad when the cap was at $42M. Guest Agalloch Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Um, have they announced how much the contract is worth yet? I know it's for seven years, but how much is he making? I don't like this at all though. Seven years at 6-7 million? Holland f***ed this one up.
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 They asked Kenny about Hanks's health. "If the playoffs started tonight, he'd be dressed for the game." He says he's not 100% healthy, but he'll be ready to go. Also said Bert had a full practice today and looked good. He's going to take further tests just for precautionary reasons, but he's fine. He won't play tomorrow, but will definitely be ready for Game 1.

RedRum #1 0 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Well Hank is worth what now? 10 million? Cmon. I know you love Hank but he's not 3 mill better than Pav. I could argue he's not even a mill better.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 Re-sign Bert and Calder now for reasonable prices. And kenny gets an A rating for the year.
haroldsnepsts 4,826 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 it really is for 7 years? guess the local media got it wrong and TSN had it right. So that would lock him up until he's 35 years old. Man, that's just too long a contract for anyone not named Crosby or Ovechkin.

The Wings plan for these things for years in advace, or as much as they can. Before Lookout we were the "Yankees" of hockey. 2 strait years after the lockout, 2 Presidents' Trophy's (maybe). Yeah, I'm sure we won't have to worry about the Tampa Bay problem here.
motorcitykid 42 Report post Posted April 6, 2007 C'mon what? If Holland receives information the cap is going up substantially in the next year or two....this deal doesn't look nearly as bad when the cap was at $42M. Believe me it aint as simple as that. And I just dont see the justification with rushing this before the playoffs, if Pavel wants to stay so bad, as both he and Holland have said. Hey lets talk money, have a great playoff, and we get back to the table. Ya might even get a little more dough. That seems reasonable. I think there's something to the fact that fans, and both Detroit sports stations are a little confused as to why this was done now. Holland simple babbled and said he figures Pavel is "ready" and is top tier- player in this league.
