Lang absolutely MUST go, then I think we should hold on to Schneider because he's basically are only other offensive threat from the blue line after Lids. We need at least 2 PP point guys (Lids + Schnieder) and 2 PK defensemen (Lids and Cheli) after that, Lebda is a must, Kronall will be there but here is where I think we can dump more salary - Markov. Its not that he's played poorly or anything, but we could probably get about the same out of Kindl for half the $. After that, keep Bert and Calder. They are key grit guys. Hopefully both for around 5-6 mil. Hasek and Maltby should be back for cheap, and we're set for next season. Pick up a cheap, hard hitting fighting winger and we're set.

yup i agree its looks more like schneids maltby and lang wont be in a wings jersey no more ... unless schneider wants to get re-signed for 2 million a year ... i think the wings are going to make a push to sign bertuzzi and clader depending on their playoff performance ... come on those two are players that no team wants to let them go ...

I hope it dosn't effect Bert getting a new deal , I think we need a couple of big forwards and if we don't keep lang hopefully some of his salary will go towards keeping Bert.

in my opinion it wont have a major effect ... considering datsyuk was getting payed 3.9 million a year ... and now lets say his getting payed 6--7 million ... it just feals like his taking over langs contract of 3 million and were replacing lang with a hudler or filp that would probably perform better for way cheaper + if we bring grigorenko over we shouldnt have any problemes on our forward ... that would let us sign bert and calder easily ... of course considering the cap goes up like they were saying by 4 million

were going to resign bertuzzi for 2 more seasons

next season be4 the playoffs were going to re-sign lidstrom for 1 year

after that zetterberg bertuzzi and lidstrom become UFA's

so wings will let bertuzzi walk ... re-sign zetterberg easily ... either let lids retire or sign him for cheaper

Yea I like the sound of this plan... Lang must go and so could Markov for cap space... I think that Lebda could easily fill his spot and it would be less money, so that they could resign Bert and Calder. Keeping Schneider is really a non-issue in my mind we need him hes a great blue liner!

IMO, Maltby could re-sign for a lot less than what he is making now. Schnieder might take a small cut too. Both of these guys are getting up there in age, and they know their game is slowly on the decline.

BUT, I could live without Malts. It would just be weird seeing him in another jersey lol. But he is replacable, and he dosent do much other than bring energy and a little grit. He sure as hell dont bring goal scoring.

I could live without Markov too. And Im about 99% sure Lang will be gone. Lebda can step up and take a bigger role, I like this guy a lot. Kronwall will obviously be around (unless he gets injured AGAIN of course).

We need to keep Bert and Calder and I think the Wings will do all they can to sign them.

Hasek could very well retire after this season, especailly if we do win the cup. But not like his contract is a problem anyway. If he does, its Howard/Osgood next season.

I could understand if he was having a bad season, but how do you figure? Schneider has a career high 41 assist this year, combined with his 11 goals and 52 total points. I know he is scrutinized for his lack of defensive play, but if we lose him then there goes our PP. Face it, as much as we'd like this to happen, Sheldon Souray is not going to become a Red Wing. It's already been stated that if he doesn't re-sign with Montreal than he'll sign with one of the three California teams.

I honestly don't see who else is out there that will bring as much offense to the blueline as Schneider. We have some good physical defenseman in Markov and Kronwall, so we got that covered. I would be happy if Schneider stayed, because if we lose him, then our offense from our defenseman goes down quite a bit.

More people would prefer Souray though because Souray is physical and will drop the gloves. For the majority of people here at LGW, those two qualities are like a dog whistle, as most would succumb to sign him at any cost.

He is not as ready to drop the gloves, but he is infinitely better positionally. And a better puck mover. Which his +1 vs Souray's -25 attests.

I wonder if there are any real, honest Lang haters around much? Most of the Lang stuff is more of a running joke that I've seen (thankfully), though a bit tongue-in-cheek.

I definitely hope Bob steps it up and gives us a reason to say "he's hard-working and he rocks."
