Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I don't think this is a good matchup for Nashville...SJ is a major under-the-radar team that I expect will go at least two rounds deep. yeah, but after last season, I don't think Nashville thinks SJ is under the radar. We got hammered by the sharks last season, and then retooled in the offseason with the specific idea that the team was being built to beat san jose.
Feldmarschall 9 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I like Nashville for this one, particularly for the reason you mentioned, Legionnaire. Third lines. If Thornton shuts down for the post-season, you've basically got a three-line team scrapping with a one-line team, and in playoff hockey that's a very difficult position to be in. Even if Joe does show up, I still like Nashville's defence corps more than SJ. I won't exactly make a prediction, but I like Nashville here, and I've got faith in them. Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 just found my info from last season. Witt, Markov and Sillinger combined for 30 mins in the box in 5 games. that's 3 PP's per game that we gave them with those guys. Notive that none of them play for us anymore? I'll be rooting for the top 4 seeds in the first round, hopefully setting up a Det-Nsh meeting in round two.

ProfessorLidstrom5 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I think the series will ultimately be determined in the net. It's Nabokov vs. Vokoun. They are both very physical teams and crash to the net a lot. I'm predicting Nashville in 6.
StevieY9802 6 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 everyone predicting a SJ win, i'm guessing that you missed the fact that Preds took the season series 3-1? and that we were severely undermanned last season when the Sharks took us out? Season series doesn't mean anything during the playofffs. Thats all I really have to say.

Yes thats all fine but they still have to play the game if they make it past SJ, they will still have to make it past Detroit
Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Yes thats all fine but they still have to play the game if they make it past SJ, they will still have to make it past Detroit of course, but you can say that about any team in the west. There are NO easy matchups by any means. Any of these first round series would have made a great conference finals.

All the matchup's in the west are tough, this must be the strongest 8 team's coming out of the western conference in a long time. Fear no one.

Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted April 9, 2007 SJ in six. Talk about Nashville beating up on the Sharks is silly. Make no mistake the Sharks have goaltending, offense, special teams, and coaching to match up with Nashville really well. Go Sharks. Yes but didnt Nashvilel do very well vs Sj in the regular season? I remember they blew them out 6-0 once at least. I think the Preds match up much better to San Jose than we do so im cheering for em to do us a favor. Either way gonna be 6 or
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I like the Sharks in 6 games. I'm rooting for Nashville, though. If the Wings miraculously advance to round two and the top seeds all advance, they match up better with the Predators.
Williams29fan 6 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Det-Nsh would be a great series, and it would do wonders for the rivalry too. I'm rooting for Nashville, not because I like you guys, but because I don't want to face San Jose later! Nashville in 7. I agree 1000% I really do not want to face the Sharks... The sharks PP vs. Wings PK = PPG NOT GOOD!
Lou_Siffer 1 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Sharks in 6 All i know is im hoping for some blowout games, this series has alot of potential for some 3rd period nastiness with the likes of Tootoo, Bell, Clowe, Weber, etc. On paper, I do like what Nashville brings for the playoffs. But this has more to do with me just really liking the Sharks to make it to the Conf finals.
Echolalia 2,961 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 I really think San Hose is being overestimated. Nashville shouldn't have too much trouble taking them out. Preds in
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 This might be the hardest series to predict in the first round, but I say San Jose in 7 because their offense is just stellar...
Louisville 112 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 Just to add my two cents, I think Cheechoo is completely overrated. Thornton, Marleau, Guerin will be the Sharks biggest threats. In that order. Of course, Cheechoo may score the odd goal from a crisp Thornton pass. I would not want to face the goalie in the winner of this series....
Zion 93 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 What is this SJ bull crap? I tell ya the team is overrated. The only thing lethal about them is their PP. Other than that they CAN be beat. Most teams can put up with their physicality as well. Preds in 6. Wow. After seeing how poorly Nashville played down the stretch and how hot San Jose had been, I can't see this going 6 games, let alone 7. Goaltending will be the only X-Factor here, as we all know anything can happen in the playoffs. I've got SJ going deep this year and meeting Anaheim in the WCF. redwings4life 3 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 San Jose is a great team (not as good as the wings but then again who is) as great of a story as Nashville is i think that San Jose wins in

Goaltending will be the only X-Factor here, as we all know anything can happen in the playoffs. I've got SJ going deep this year and meeting Anaheim in the WCF. How the Preds or Sharks played down the stretch in the last few weeks means absolutely nothing now. Playoffs are a whole different story. I like the Sharks in 6 games. Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 9, 2007 If Nashville can find some goaltending, I see them taking the series. Unfortunately for Nashville though, both Vokoun and Mason have been pretty sketchy the whole season. If they play the way they've been as of late, San Jose will take the series, and pretty quickly for that matter.
