That's a stupid stat. We are the only one of the bunch, besides New Jersey, that wasn't a sell-out. You can't judge attendance based on who has the largest arena.

Seriously? The game ended up not being sold out?

Wow, do I hate the business season ticket holders of Detroit!

Just a little tidbit for those who watched the game on FSN tonight (or even better, went to the game).

The guys on Versus couldn't believe how good Zetterberg looked after being off for 19 games. By the end of the night, they had convinced themselves that there was no way he could have been hurt that bad, and the Wings were clearly embellishing the injury.

It's funny, I wish dearly that I could watch the games on FSN, but it is fun to hear other announcers reaction when they see up close how good Z is.

When Datsyuk scores a playoff goal, the wings win the cup!!!

Happens 100% of the time :D

On a more serious note, Dats getting a goal tonight was so important. He looked like a man skating without 100 pounds of baggage after the goal.

great game by the wings. they got the puck in deep and had many, many quality scoring chances. they played physically and just looked damn good. they actually look hungry for a change. we better be ready for game two, though. calgary is going to come out hard. even though the wings played great tonight, part of it was the piss poor calgary play. they looked uninspired and didn't get too involved other than trying to fight our 180 pound stars. iginla gets on my nerves. they were just acting like babies out there. what sore losers. that said, i think game two will be a different game. let's hope the wings can come with the same intensity and grit!!

on a side note, what the f*ck is sammy doing on the poin for the pp??? sometimes babcock just doesn't have a clue.

also, i'm just plain embarrassed that the joe didn't sell out. that's just sad. this is hockey town??? i don't know what to say about that.

I'd be willing to bet there were more "real people" who declined to buy playoff tickets than corporations.

Absolutely. They outworked the Flames; this looked nothing like the team we've seen bounced out in the past years.

The point is, the only team in the league that had more people come out to a game was Ottawa. We have nothing to ***** about.

Also worth noting, the two most successful franchises since 95 didnt sell ou their first game. Think fans might be a little complacent? At least we only missed our sell out by 700 and not 4500+

Ottawa- 19,611 (18,500)

Detroit- 19,204 (19,983)

Vancouver- 18,630 (18,422)

Atlanta- 18,857 (18,750)

Anaheim- 17,180 (17,174)

Nashville- 17,113 (17,500)

NJ- 14,495 (19,040)

Buffalo- N/A

Congrats on your win.....and thank McGoof for us

How can Detroit be called hockey town. Not even sold out and I have been to Pee Wee games that have been louder. And what was up with Cleary running Kipper, that was a little cheap when your team was ahead 4-1

Dirty, DIrty,

I can guarantee that you will see a totally different Flames team on sunday, and then back to Calgary for 2 games, which the wings didn;t win one this season.

The Flames will have Regehr back on sunday.

Yes the Flames were totally outplayed in the first and second, but the Flames pretty well won the third period. They carry that emotion and momentum into the next game and hopfully it will be a lot better game for the Flames.

I guess it was true, that the pressure was on the Wings more, after being knocked out of the playoffs the last 3 seasons.

I am not happy with the play of my team tonight. But I know they can do better, and they will...so look for a much different Flames team on SUnday.

anyway COngrats on the win

Oh, did the Wings win the first game against the Oilers last season in the first round
