henriksedin 1 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Man that Dion Phaneuf is a jackass for trying to rip Zetterberg's head off. I think Bert needs to pay him a visit when Phaneuf is going after a dumped puck in his own zone.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) Im sure if Phaneuf's back is turned Bertuzzi will oblige I'm sure if you left these forums and never came back, nobody would care. Seriously, just f*cking go already. Everyone here is losing patience for your constant Bertuzzi trolling and just pure hate. You hate him so much? Go post about it on LetGoBlues or some other board that hates everything about the Wings. Or, be like that guy from Monroe and not watch the Wings anymore. I'm getting so sick of your stupid rebuttals. They are so unoriginal, it's ridiculuos. Really, if this is how you feel, then just leave. Go discuss is somewhere else, because we don't want to here it anymore. edited for grammar Edited April 13, 2007 by Kp-Wings

Vansmack-CP 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 Hey everyone. Got back late from the game tonight, I had to console myself by visiting the casino in Sarnia on my drive back to London. Apparently the casino is less safe that the Joe for flames fans! I was constantly being made fun of at the casino, but it was all fun. Tonight was my first time in Detroit, and I have to say that even though the arena isn't that much too look at, you can't help but feel the sense of history that it holds. Seeing all the banners in the rafters, it really makes you realize how decorated your franchise really is. I had fairly nice seats for the game, 213 row 9 and was able to see everything quite well. All of the fans in the section were incredibly friendly, except after our only goal - but that was to be expected. Despite the horrible effort my team put forth I had a very enjoyable experience and I am looking forward to a better effort (hopefully) on Sunday when I will be back for game two. wingsfan75 2 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 We folks it didn't look like Zetterberg took even a game off. He was in there battling from the get go. Maybe they just cryogenically froze him until his swelling went down. I'm glad he's back with his line. They were a force to be reckoned with last night. Great win guys!!! Hank 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 All I have to say is 'kudos' to the Redwings and the effort they put forth last night. I was pleasently surprised in how they played and I'm glad to be eating crow today. Even if the Wings had somehow lost last night I would still be proud of them. They played 'hungry' for the first time in years. Also, it looks like they played with less patience from the get-go as well. That was needed. They took the game to the Flames very early on and I was shocked and surprised to see how many times they would engage in puck battles whole-heartedly and come out with the puck more times than not. If the Wings can play like this throughout the playoffs it should be a fun spring. Great job guys! P.S. I think the Wings are finally pissed off with the way they were bounced the last 3 postseasons. And I'm sure the fact that media, hockey experts and fans across the NHL were all picking the Flames had something to do with how they played as well. And it also couldn't have hurt their desire knowing that the Joe wasn't sold out for the first time in a LONG time. I'm glad they wanted to show their fans and themselves that they are capable of working and willing themselves a win.

WingsWingsWings 3 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 (edited) I think it was a great win by the Wings. My 3 stars: #1 - Pavel Datsyuk for getting that monkey off his back! #2 - Dominik Hasek for some great goaltending! #3 - All the Defensive lines for keeping the puck in the zone so well during the PP's. Runner-up: As much as I hate to say this, my runner-up is Kipper. If it wasn't for him, the Flames would have lost by so many more goals! Too bad..... Hank looked great coming back as well. Didn't seem to miss a beat. Was great to see him back. If we can get Bert back in Game 2, I think it will give us another little kick-in-the-butt and put us over the top in that game as well! Well - GO WINGS GO!!!! Found a pic of Markov leaping onto that dogpile last night. Niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice! Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 haha. I'm not trying to be a troll, but yall have NO IDEA how funny this thread has become to me. Most of all, that there is discussion about Detroit not selling out a playoff game. Obviously I can't criticize, because my team did the same thing last season. But dang, after all the crap that we've gotten from Wings fans over the years about attendance, and then they go and pull something like this? awesome! (seriously, I know the tickets are outrageous and people are skeptical of the first round at this point). And the Cleary thing. The replay I saw showed Cleary headed towards Kipper (who was actually halfway outside of the crease anyway) he didn't see Kipprusoff, but then he DID look up and see him, then duck his head down and go full on into him with his shoulder. So he knew that he was going to hit him hard, he ducked his head in anticipation. Now, if this was a preds or flames player who did this to a wings goalie, there would be so much hell being raised on here about how he knew he was going to hit him, and he's a dirty SOB and that kind of stuff doesn't belong in the game, bla, bla, bla. BUT, can't really blame him, he didn't really have time to change course, so the only thing he could do was duck his head and just bowl him over. Just wanted to point out how it would have been viewed if it was the other way around though. you didn't sell out... hehehe. [/trolling mode]
ZatasGirl40 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I was at the game last night...and I couldn't help but saying it over and over again about how this was the absolute best game I have ever been to. Not only was it playoffs, but we crushed them, Zetterberg was back playing like he never missed a game, Pavs shut everyone up, there were constant brawls, and not to mention the bird on the ice...which added a nice little touch to the game. I was, however, highly dissappointed with the turn out of our fans. It broke my heart to see so many empty seats. I guess you can blame the economy for that? Who knows. But anyways, it was an amazing game to go to and I hope we destroy them on Sunday as well.

Usually when a Pred does it, they have a reputation of doing so.

Just wanted to point out how it would have been viewed if it was the other way around though. you didn't sell out... hehehe. [/trolling mode] The attendance is being blown way out of proportion by most of the people on here. To me, it's a good thing that were extra tickets available to last night's game. Not only does it send a message to Ilitch about the prices for tickets, but it shows just how cautious the "fans" are being this year. Detroit, for the most part, is a bandwagon city, the hottest commodity gets all the attention. The Wings have been Page 2 or 3 fodder all season long, and because of the recent success of the Pistons and Tigers, the marginal Wings fans have taken a wait and see attitude about the playoffs, given the prior first round exits. I think this is good for the organization, team and the fans. It shows that the Wings now have to prove to the fans that they can win to put butts back into the seats. As for Cleary's "hit", it was grade A bullplop. Kipper sold it like he'd been shot and it got his team riled up, we all knew that was his intention in the first place, but don't make it seem like Cleary intentionally lowered his shoulder into him. As a former goaltender, I've done the same team to provide a spark for my team, and 99 out of 100 times it works. Also, with all the equipment goalies have, there's no way that Kipper could even be phased by that type of contact. Iginla bumped into Hasek twice last night after he had just made a save, but Dom was composed and didn't try to sell it. Instead of blaming Cleary, let's give Kipper an Oscar for best dive of the series. Bring on Game 2.

Aussie_Wing 354 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 I also cannot believe how many empty seats there were with 5 minutes left. Why wouldn’t everyone hang around and cheer the guys until the very end? The players do all the good work of getting the lead and preserving it, and their reward is seeing a near empty arena purely because the fans want to leave a couple of minutes early? Unbelievable. About Cleary, he's not a repeat offender, and it wasn't intentional. Besides, watch it again, he barely touched him. As for the rest of this slop in your post, I hope Gordie rips you a new one again. Legionnaire11 0 Report post Posted April 13, 2007 i'm surprised that they didn't do something to get rid of those 700 extra tickets. That's not very many. I know sometimes if the Preds are within a couple hundred of selling out on game day, they'll offer any single ticket for $20. That's only when there aren't anymore groups (2 or more seats together) available. Or some corporation could step up and get those 700 tickets. I don't know, seems like there had to be some way to push 700 tickets. Unless it was actually worse than that and they did push a lot of tickets and just couldn't manage that last 700. Who knows, anyone here have a connection with ticket sales that could shed some light on it?
