NFM, if you consider the wings playing a good game, what kind of a game is Calgary playing then? Cause they are controlling this game

Are you serious?? Lazy shots and/or shots right into a Calgary PKer on the Powerplay. Defensive breakdowns. Reffing - s***ty. Sammy - useless. Lidstrom + Zetterberg - not their usual selves.

I wouldn't include Z and Lids in that list.

They weren't showing up offensively, but they both took Iginla out of the play several times.

I liked the hitting and aggressiveness, but Schneider had a bad period, and there were a couple other bad plays.

Dom saved a breakaway and a two on one. That shouldn't happen. Then the bad schneider penalty.

Aside from the odd-man rushes, I thought WIngs were by far the better team.

Just NFM's 2 cents.

Actually CBC has been pretty weak so far too. Early the guy said that Regher was out for the Red Wings, then I'd swear he said Hudler was out, Calder in, when the opposite is true. One announcer also called Kipper "Hasek" but then luckily corrected himself.

But I agree, I think the refs make the announcers look like all stars this game....and not just calls against Detroit either.

And Dom has kept us in it -- if he did indeed stop that shot by Huselieus late, that was just a huge save.

My two cents.

I don't think they've been playing bad...am I alone here?

I think calls have been questionable at best.

The Wings haven't been playing badly. They have had chances. I want to see more Filpula.

Calgary has been playing extremely well. The Wings need to score a goal before Calgary crash the net more.

WTF? That was the WIngs best period since game 2.

Ditto. Aside from a few mistakes in which Dom bailed them out, GOOD period by the Wings! They are FIESTY as hell out there, throwing hits whenever they can, and playing some intense hockey. They'll score a few in the second.

DOM HAS BEEN AMAZING! KEEP IT UP!! THATS THE DOM WE NEED!

BTW, props to the Wings on the PK. Excellent kill both times. Markov, Cleary, and Lilja were HUGE both times. If we aren't going to score on the PP..at least we are killing the penalties..because that is the ONLY way the Flames can score.

LETS GO WINGS!!!!!!!!!!!!

brett hull is a traitor .............piece of sh*t, if i knew where he lived id steal the ring he got when we won the cup , he doesnt deserve it

for what? saying the wings goal should've counted and maltby shouldn't have gotten a penalty?

Not to mention he's a commenator now. In spite of some announcers out there, it's not terribly professional to be a total homer.

NFM, if you consider the wings playing a good game, what kind of a game is Calgary playing then?

I know this isnt directed at me, but Calgary is playing the same exact way they have been in games 3 and 4 - not spectacular at all and only getting quality chances when they are on the PP.

Seriously, I may be more pissed about losing to Calgary this year than I have been about losing a series in the past 4 years - because Calgary has NOT dominated. Detroit has had the ability to win every game so far, but they are letting Calgary win. There is a difference between getting beaten by a team and letting a team beat you. Thats what Detroit has down the past 2 games + 1 period.

I'm just getting tired of critical BAD calls killing us in the playoffs. It happened last season, it's happening now.

I know, it's making excuses - they should be able to overcome bad officiating - but there's only so much you can overcome without it just being straight up unfair.

For what it's worth, I agree. I thought we were far better, we were just on the PK a lot.

But why listen to me, I root for Lang

Aside from the defensive breakdowns, the WIngs controlled the period. Simple as that.

Sidenote: Are you going to blame the WIngs for the reffing? That has nothing to do with your arguement.

I agree.

They just a had a few big lapses, and that's how the Wings manage to lose. They outplay an opponent for most of the period, then give up a bad play that leads to a goal.

If they get rid of those few bad decisions, then it was a great period. hopefully they'll come out that way in the second.

And f*ck the refs. Keep going hard to the net.

A few thoughts...

-Absolutely brutal penalty call on Maltby. It's hard to take the officiating seriously anymore.

-If the power play doesn't pick it up soon, I fear the Wings are done. They need to be able to count on at least a power play goal per game.

-Bill Clement actually hit it on the head when he said the Flames are "playing like the home team." The Wings don't look confident or aggressive, two things that were trademarks of Games 1 and 2.

-Please, God, can we get Samuelsson out of the line-up? Hudler hasn't necessarily done much to make himself visible, but would still love to see him and Calder in instead of Samuelsson. He does absolutely nothing worth noting. Ever.

It's funny..........I still thought the score was 0-0, with the refs leading by 1.

Tim Hardaway hates these refs.

Schneider: Stop shooting the puck into people's shin pads when you're the last man back.

Datsyuk: Sack up you fricken sissy Euro.

Hasek: :clap::clap::clap:

Refs: Lick my nuts.

Flip: Lift the puck next time buddy.

Overall not too bad. We should be up 1-0 right now (at least) and with a little luck we could've pushed 2 in (of course, I guess they could've as well). Hasek's on his game today...we're still running around in our own end a little too much, but if the refs will get off their knees (get it? Since they're blowing the game? :P ) we've got a pretty darn good shot in this one....

-Tim

 You are getting way ahead of yourself here. Wings are playing pretty damn good *aside from being a bit chippy and sloppy in the first 10 minutes* they'll settle down in the 2nd and get it going!

It's not like the Flames are playing great...

I can accept that Zetterberg isnt going to be all that good offensively - I wouldnt be surprised if hes still hurt - but still his offensive zone passes continue to be off, and thats not something Im used to seeing. But as for Lidstrom, hes had a few pucks get by him, his stick hasnt been as omnipresent, and his work on the PP has been questionable. I dont want to get on him too much, but when hes played at such a high standard throughout the regular season, you expect them to look even better in the postseason.
