Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I don't care, whatever, it's what we all thought. It'll be nice to see all their faces when they lose. I usually feel bad for the losing team but not this time.
glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Iginla and Langkow shouldve gotten at least 1 game. NHL is afriad to suspend players that are important to there teams. I bet if it was Zetts and Dats they wouldn't hesitate to give them ban's.
OsGOD 3 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Actually if you really think about it... The CHL are going to get the ratings they are wanting for a sunday late game. I mean imagine EVERYONE tuning in to see the sequel.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 No big surprise. The NHL drops the ball once again. It's no wonder we come up with such fantastic conspiracy theories, the way this league operates.
JerseyWingsFan 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) I think everyone is a little emotional after yesterday. Lankow and Iginla are a couple thug babies, but I'm not sure that what either of them did warranted a suspension. Lankow maybe, but not Iginla. Besides, what fun would it be to beat the Flames without little baby Iginla having to shake one hand with all of the Wings while wiping the tears out of his eyes with the other? And lets be honest here, aside from taking his skate off and trying to stab someone Happy Gilmore style there is no way that the NHl would suspend Iginla. HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 5 games is a serious joke. He could of seriously hurt the Mule. I'm glad that the organization/playdirty got suspended but that's not enough. Langkow and Iginla need to be out for tonights game.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Langkow should have gotten suspended too. Lebda was injured from the play, and even TSN's Darren Dreger thought Lebda's hit was clean and Langkow's punch was dirty. Ugh. It's good that McLennan was suspended and all, but he really means nothing to that team. Calgary will probably call Brent Krahn up from the AHL to be the backup tonight anyways, so losing McLennan really means nothing to them. It is interesting to see Playfair and the entire Flames organization be fined from this, but it really does nothing all much either. Oh well.
C-TownWing 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 It's garbage, but I didn't really expect any more. Although given that Langkow's act directly resulted in our losing a pretty important player who was playing well for us, I thought there was a chance of seeing something there. It's just too bad that this is the cap era, and that $100K won't force them to move to KC or something.
Rice 42 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Iginla shouldn't be suspended for what he did. It was dirty, yes, but I don't think that it's suspension worthy. Langkow should be out for what he did though.
Crashnburnluder 385 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 So I guess if Lebda got KO'd then Langkow would get a suspension.... because the NHL rolls with the rule it all depends on the injury... which in my opinion is the stupidest thing ever...
omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Lebda will not play tonight for Detroit because of an injury. Lebda is said to be suffering "headaches." Ugh, after reading that link, he's not the only one.
commadore183 103 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 FIVE games!?!?! That's bulls***!!! That guy should be out for more than that (30 games would seem fair to me). And that Langkow got away with giving Lebda a concussion!? Unbelievable! The NHL has become a joke with their punishments. So now a goalie can swing his stick at a player and get five games. Absolutely stupid. I am disappointed. The Wings will end the series at Calgary, the best revenge possible.
HenrikRules40 14 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I bet if it was Zetts and Dats they wouldn't hesitate to give them ban's. Yeah but it would never be Zetts and Dats.
Mighty Wings 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) If what happened yesterday didn't piss them off enough, this should get their blood boiling. Edited April 22, 2007 by Mighty Wings
Seraph 240 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 It's fine everyone. Don't get ruffled. If they suspended the Flames' key players, they would rally to counter what they believe to be an "injustice." Booting their no-name goalie puts them in the light of shame. They'll be broken by this tonight by the Wings.
Elshupacabra 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Yeah, I'm not all that surprised that its five games, a little surprised Langkow didn't get anything but I think the $125,000 in fines was fitting.
Saran 1 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 flames back up goalie for lebda? fuking bs, langkow should be suspended aswell, screw the fines, get that cheap ass off the ice aswell

Langkow should be out for what he did though. Agreed, I don't think Iginla's play merits a suspension. It was scummy of him and very poor leadership, but not really suspension worthy. Langkow's punch is borderline. Could have gone either way. I'm not surprised he wasn't suspended and I wouldn't have been surprised if he had. As for the fines, I think they're right on. I'll be interested to hear it once the media finally gets a quote out of McLennan.
glasgowcelticwing 18 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 Yeah but it would never be Zetts and Dats. True , they're to classy to do s***ty things like that.

Which is pathetic. Whether someone gets injured or not off a sucker punch doesn't justify what the punk did. He did INTENT to injure him. That should be enough for him to get suspended. Let's not forget how after the punch he held on tight to Lebs neck trying to hurt him some more.
Guest EZBAKETHAGANGSTA Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I'm hoping for a follow up report saying Langkow is also gone, but I fear this is all that's going to happen. Agreed. ******* pussys. Iginla shouldnt get one imo but LangkowARD should.
auxlepli 17 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Five games is nothing, especially for McLennan. Also if the Flames lose today, then it's only a game suspension. Since McLennan was subbing for Kiprusoff, maybe Kiprusoff should get fine too. I know it'll never happen, but that would be a real message. Langkow and Iginla should receive a fine IMO Edited April 22, 2007 by auxlepli
LordLoki 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 So in the end it costs them some cash and 5 games for a player who wasn't going to see the ice anyway. I wish I could say I was surprised but I am not. The NHL wouldn't suspend anyone who could actually have an impact on the remaining games in this playoff series.
SoupGuru 0 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 I guess that means it's up to the Wings to get even with Langkow? I know Lebda is the protege of Chelios... it'll be interesting to see if the old man takes care of business.
Vincanni 1 Report post Posted April 22, 2007 (edited) Wow real ballsy making some loser goaltender the scape goat on this one, especially not doing a damn thing against Langkow, Iginla I can understand though he's still a complete D-bag. Either one of those stains could blow a tire, careen face first into the boards and leave on a stretcher and I could not be more indifferent. Edit: just so none of you folks get the wrong idea I'm not asking or hoping for this to happen. Just as a fan of hockey in general, I'd hold my breath if any player became seriously injured with a few exceptions in which case I'd not really care too much. These assholes just made that list.
