Per TSN: McLennan suspended 5 games, Lebda out for Game 6

I don't know how they missed it, but they did. The punch did happen what, like 5 seconds after the hit? Their attention must been drawn else where. There is no way a ref would let that go.

If you are suggesting that the refs are favouring Calgary so much so as to the extent to allow this punch, you are not being fair in any way because the Flames didn't get away with things that were half as bad during the whole game.

honestly I wasn't suggesting that they intentionally missed it. I'm seriously baffled how they did. They see a hit they're calling a penalty on, two players go down in a heap, but neither ref sees the punch?

The biggest call in favor of the flames was the interference on Maltby. He was checked into Kipper. That cost us a goal and put the Wings shorthanded.

It was made up for somewhat by the penalty shot. That trip on Cleary met the conditions for a penalty shot, but I was surprised any ref had the balls to call it in the playoffs.

While I'm glad the NHL is doing something, Iginla and Langkow should be facing punishment as well, especially since losing McLennan really doesn't affect the Flames.

Iginla shouldn't be suspended for what he did. It was dirty, yes, but I don't think that it's suspension worthy. Langkow should be out for what he did though.

isn't butting a player with a stick an AUTOMATIC SUSPENSION? or is that only if your name isn't fockwad vaginla?

Thanks!

Disagree? Maybe I can change your mind then? ...probably not. haha

Calgary puck is a zoo right now too, I am trying to stay away this afternoon. We are getting lots of trolls too. Best way to deal with them is to not respond. Let the mods handle them. Vigilantly thread justice = a clogged up thread.

I don't mind Calgary Fans who actually have a point of view. Even if its wrong :hehe::P

It really is the trolls I hate. I really am sorry if there are Wings Fans trolling Calgary Puck.

Apparently as long as your name is Iginla, it's not an automatic suspension. I'm glad the league decided to do something about it, but Langkow and Iginla should both be out for the game tonight. McLennan doesn't dress, but so what? Would have been more of a message by the league had they made Iginla sit tonight out, and then even better should the Wings win. Of course, there would be too big an outcry from Calgary fans and their media should that have actually happened.

I agree. I was screaming for it, and screamed louder in amazement when it was actually called, then screamed even louder when Cleary owned Kipper on it.

Still doesn't make anything that happened in that game better.

And yet I've seen a few idiots that say if not for the penalty shot, the Wings wouldn't have won the game.

I thought Calgary puck shut down any new members from joining.

Just curious. Are these trolls Wings fans, or fans of other teams trolling?

Perhaps it is better that Iginla and Langkow are in.

Now, when the Wings beat them tonight, the Calgary Fans can't say that it was all because Langkow or Iginla weren't there.

They will just know they were beaten.

Just curious. Are these trolls Wings fans, or fans of other teams trolling?

Good point....

McLennan only for 5 games? So according to the NHL, what he did is only as bad as what tootoo did???

Not only that, but they're saying what he did isn't as bad as what Simon did.

Simon hit a guy in the face, but at least his altercation happened in the spur of the momemt. McLellan's was a premeditated act. Also, the goalie stick is much heavier and capable of doing more damage than a regular hockey stick.

Anyway you look at it, either Simon got too much or McLellan didn't get enough.

Honestly, I think there's been a lot of emotional overreaction to the game yesterday. I think 5 games is a fair suspension to McLennan. Iginla's work on Schneider was nowhere near as bad as it looked. Minor penalty? Sure. Suspension? I don't think so. The Lebda incident, I don't know. He received a clipping penalty for what he did. Langkow was hurt on the play, as was Lebda, and Langkow overreacted. It was a strange situation, with both players really unable to get up at that point.

The NBC announcers went way overboard with their reactions to the stuff at the end of the game, and I think it's influenced some people here. The Flames gooned it up at the end, but I don't think it crossed the line nearly as bad as some people here do. The only non-suspension that I think is worth even discussing is Langkow's.

I wish the Wings had a guy or two willing to drop the gloves. A couple of fights might have gone a long way towards eliminating the cheap shots we saw. When frustration boils over, sometimes the fights help the players get it out of their system.

I expect a physical game tonight. If the Wings can win in Calgary, it will be a real statement game for them, IMO. But it's going to be very tough.

Langkow was hurt on the play? Did you watch the replays of it? A truly injured player doesn't get taken down, bounce right up to punch someone, and then suddenly act like they can't move by slowly rolling over. Watch it again. Looked like an acting job to me.

I tell ya, it was a pure miracle. First he's hurt and boom, he is all of sudden better and punches Lebda.

I guess they have stopped new members from joining. They are more strict than LGW. After yesterdays game the troll situation was pretty bad, guess this is how they planned to slow it down. I am sure they will open up registration soon again. I think most of the trolls are wings fans, a couple of oilers fans thrown in there too. I can't say for sure, but that is the way it seems to be. To be fair there are reasonable Wings fans on the site too.

Honestly this forum and Calgary Puck are pretty much the same just mirrored towards their respective teams. I mean you got idiots on this one saying Mclennan should get 30 games and idiots on Calgary Puck saying Mclennan should have hit him harder. Just got to know where to look for a real perspective.

Don't give me that. Apparently fans of other teams have been just as mad about what happened last night as we are. Go on HFboards and see for yourself.

No no. I was supporting you. When Burninator said there were trolls, I assumed it was Wings Fans.

Until you said that, I didn't even think it might be other teams' fans.

I was agreeing with you. Sorry for the misunderstanding!

CALGARY FLAMES RECALL GOALTENDER BRENT KRAHN FROM OMAHA

For Immediate Release

Sunday, April 22, 2007

Calgary, AB - Calgary Flames General Manager Darryl Sutter announced today that goaltender Brent Krahn has been recalled from the Omaha Ak-Sar-Ben Knights (AHL).

The Calgary Flames host the Detroit Red Wings tonight in game six of the Western Conference Quarter Finals at the Pengrowth Saddledome at 7:00pm (MT). The game will be broadcast live on CBC and the FAN 960.

No surprise really.

Not my quote, stolen from CP.

"Let's see what skills Krahn has in the battleaxe department." :P

Just jokes of course.

*braces for impact*

I'd much rather see Kipper go hay wire , and hit one of our star players.

Actaully , no , he wouldnt get suspened anyway , The NHL has no balls.
