Combined that with guys like Avery and Shanahan, and you've got to wonder how a team with such a dysfunctional locker room actually even made the playoffs. I played hockey with some guy who was supposedly on the "inside" with the Wings and he said that Yzerman and Shanahan were the biggest dickheads on the team, everybody hated them. I don't think that he was lying, because he wasn't bragging about it or anything it just kind of came up during a conversation. I can't believe that with Yzerman, but I can with Shanahan. Maybe if he was talking about Yzerman of the 80's, but I don't think he was a bad person once he matured. Shanahan, on the other hand, always has to have something to say and get the last word in. And yes your are right, I did over look that being Irbe's first playoffs.... But to be fair... he hasn't played in the NHL for so long, I thought he started so much earlier than Ozzie, Considering Ozzie went on to back stop a Stanley Cup team Not to mention is um, well, still playing in the NHL. Over the long run Yes, Ozzie did bcome a MUCH BETTER goalie. That is exactly what I am talking about Even with that loss on his resume... Also, Osgood didn't start the series...Bob Essensa spotted the Sharks the series lead--Osgood went 3-2 vs the Sharks and the Wings likely would have come out victorious had they started their best netminder right away.
