DaKineMaui 8 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Work ethic is the only thing stopping Lang for being a dominant player - thats so sad. $73,000/wk .........cap money.

Hank 0 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 No. I defended him all season long but his output in the playoffs has been beyond horrible. This guy is paid to score and he's not. And he's not giving any effort out there at all. In the Flames series, every player, to a man, was hussling and digging and fighting for loose pucks. Not Lang. He can't be bothered. It'll be great when we can finally dump this underacheiving, lazy P.O.S. from the team.
BlueMonk 102 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 From today's Detroit Free Press: Lang, who scored a huge goal -- his only of the playoffs -- to help clinch the Flames series, has been unable to build on his previous two playoff outings for the Wings in 2004 and 2006, when he was their leading scorer overall. Asked Sunday what's going on with Lang, Babcock replied, "You know what, you ask him." Lang declined to talk. He's down to averaging around 15 minutes a game. "I guess the way I look at it is, it's not about the individual at this time of year," Babcock said. "It's about winning. That's all it is. So when you're going and you can help us win you're going; if you're not going, then you don't get to play. It's just that simple for me."
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I think that this definatly spells the end of Bad Ass Bob in a Wings uni. He has been cold all playoffs, and above that has shown little effort. I think that Filpulla will get more playing time and that he will ultimatly be the 2nd line center next year. Lang will not be re-signed next season, his money went into Datsyuk's pocket, and then Kopecky will be inserted into the every day line-up. Re-siging Bert is a much higher priority than Lang, and is a much better use of $$. I appreciate all he has done for us and hope that he finds his touch before the playoffs are over, but regardless, I think no matter what his days as a wing are over after the season
Offsides 21 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 Whatever you guys think of him, remember this wise advice for tonight's game: Cheering for Lang = Guaranteed Win YOU know it's true...don't let the team down!
Spongewingredpants 75 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 i think with asll they hype about resigning Dats and Hank, Lang just kinda said to himself...lets finish of this contract...and then later on the hype about Bertuzzi, Cleary and Calder...... he needs a new start in Colombus

lets go pavel 2 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 I am making the point that a majority of LGWers seem to think that in the regular season there was the teams top 12 forwards, and then a huge gap, and then Lang. In terms of talent, skill, statistical performance -- no, there is not a huge gap. In terms of work ethic, hustle, and heart -- yes, big gap. I can't think of another player this year who has shown so little of the aforementioned qualities, even guys like Sammy and Lilypads when struggling at least show effort, and I think this is what infuriates most of us so much. Absolutely. I mean, yes Sammy sucks huge ass. But at least he gives 100% every night. Lang has loads of talent but chooses not to use it. He's a paycheck player that will run the minute this season is over. I'm sure he'll sign for good money somewhere else and irrate fans there with his indifferent play and lazy attitude. Guest Crymson Report post Posted April 30, 2007 (edited) go re-do yer math and come back with the right answer please. Lang played on the first line with Yzerman in '03-'04 after coming over from Washington. Lang only played six games with the Wings in the regular season of that year, as he was injured for part of it. As I remember, Yzerman did not regularly play on a line with Robert Lang last season. While you're reading this, you might think of actually putting some "facts" behind your arguments. Saying "are you kidding me?" and "are you kidding me even more?" in response to true statements with no factual rebuttal of your own is rather silly. Where are your stats as to the length of time during which Lang and Yzerman regularly played on a line together in the regular season? Rice 42 Report post Posted April 30, 2007 As I remember, Yzerman did not regularly play on a line with Robert Lang last season. Well, then you remember wrong. During Yzerman's hot streak for the last couple months of the season he was on a line with Lang and Williams.

I'll apologize for the smart-assed comments I made.....I am sorry to you Crymson. BUT (there's always a 'but' isn't there?), I have no stats......not sure where to look except for my own brain/memories. Again, please excuse the sillyness, BUT: ok I quit. BTW - I'm cheering for Lang tonight. aloha nui loa

If my boss said this about me (You know what, you ask him) I would be kicking some major ass the next day at work. I would be so ashamed I would do anything to redeem myself. I don't care how much one makes, there is an issue of pride and fairness for the paycheck. They should make him watch himself on video as punishment.
