The One and Only Positive I Have Faith, Kumbayah"

All righty, first off I'm going to be the glass half-empty/potential reality view. I'm not going to be idiotic and say there's no concern or no worries on my end. The Wings are in a tight spot and I won't be surprised if they get eliminated by the Sharks. We know why they are good and nobody should act surprised if San Jose advances.

That being said though, I still like the Wings chances and have a lot of optimism, guarded that it may be. I'd still be hopeful if they fall down in a 3-1 hole.

Why so?

The ice just tilted completely for the Sharks in the latter half of game 3. Don't deny that. It's not like they have completely steamrolled the Wings in games 1 and 3 though. They aren't getting mauled or thrown out the building. They just have to work a little harder and dig a little deeper (not denying the current lack of effort though).

Game 5 is at home, and the Wings have the final 2 of 3 at home if it comes to that. I know the Sharks are a good road team and the Wings lack of game 5 success in recent years (not including Calgary series this year). I'm going into game 5 over the weekend like it's a brand new series, 0-0 with a clean slate and with confidence and optimism, regardless of what happens in game 4. I will not make any guarantees for wins, but I'm still confident. If the Wings pull out game 4 though, makes the situation all the better.

A bounce here/a bounce there is all that could be needed to change a game/series for the Wings.

This team is different that the previous "soft" playoff teams. Again, they aren't getting manhandled or destroyed out there, they have proven they can throw the body around when it is needed. It's a better and tougher Sharks team, but the Wings just have to dig a little bit deeper as stated.

Come join me in a weird kumbayah song.....or something *shrugs*

*Makes music and creates raindance*

How'd I figure that, after one loss, the negativity topics would be in full force. And in partnership with those are the "stay positive" topics. Heh. :P

I won't be too negative... yet. But I'm looking at this series in perspective: The Sharks take Game 1. The Wings take Game 2. The Sharks then take Game 3. If this series follows the same boring trend that almost every other series has went these playoffs, it's that the Sharks win every game from now on and win it in 5. The pattern has been this: Team A takes Game 1. Team B takes Game 2. Team A then wins 3 straight and takes the series in 5. Look at all the series that went that way this year. It's so predictable.

I really pray that this won't be the case here. I'm still staying positive in the best ways that I can. Go Wings!

By the way, if things get too desperate, we could all take Offsides suggestion and cheer Lang from now on. Hey, it might work! ;)

Sure looked like the Wings were getting pretty mauled for the last 30 minutes. I think I'm starting to see why the pundits were pickig the Sharks. When they get rolling, man are they good...

They weren't rolling, the Wings just stood there and let them do what they wanted.

BTW, you picked a HORRIBLE name and you will find out soon enough why,

Bingo. This has been a Jekyl and Hyde Series on both sides. In any given period one team can look dominant only to look beyond horrible in the next.

Both coaches MUST get their teams to play 60 solid minutes of hockey. If you break it down, the Sharks have only had, arguably, 3 good periods and the Wings have had only 3 or 4 themselves. The Wings have only scored 4 goals in 3 games and yet they have 1 win, while the Sharks have scored only 2 PP goals and have 2 victories. You could make a case that either team should be down 3-0 at this point.

Game 4 will decide who will win this series. It's a must win for the Sharks as their psyche is very fragile from last years collapse and they don't want that to happen again. The Wings need to assert themselves FOR 60 MINUTES on the road to show that they can do it away from the Joe.

I thought last nights game was a good one, but featured way too much standing around and breath-holding from the Wings in the 3rd period. At the same time, the Sharks were lucky to be only down a goal after 20 minutes (much like the Wings were lucky to be only down a goal after 1 in game 2).

What's going to happen in game 4? Who knows. I don't think either coach even knows. Hopefully the Wings can put together an effort like they did in Game 6 against the Flames and they don't stop working and hitting from the start of the game to the end.

Let's face it folks...the Sharks are very good. There shot blocking is unreal, they are very responsible at both ends, and they have a lot of talent.

This is the playoffs...if you thought it was going to be easy you must be new to the sport. Even though we are down I don't feel like we're out. It's been 3 1-goal games. If the Wings play their game for a full 60 minutes (no small task against such a quality opponent) it's back to a best of 3 with 2 games at JLA.

Seems early but I guess it's time already...

Over? Did you say "over"? Nothing is over until we decide it is! Was it over when the Germans bombed Pearl Harbor? Hell no!

Okay guys, I see a bunch of negative threads, and reasonably so. I do not disagree with them, threads about "Hasek's unreasonable flops, Bertuzzi's dumb, costly penalties, Sammy's worthlessness, etc, etc." However, there is one positive aspect about game 4, and I truly believe this can get us the win, WE HAVE TOMAS HOLMSTROM!

This makes me estatic, seriously, it does. We get to see the 13/40/96 chemistry that put us at number 1 in the west, lines are not all scrambled with non-chemistry players, and our PP will probably increase enough to get the job done. Holmstrom's presence was missed in front of the net, Holmstrom's chemistry with Zetts and Dats was missed, and with those two factors, I'm a firm believer in us pulling off game 4 victorious.

Hopefully he is wearing a visor and hopefully they installed freakin' lazers on it! Lazers will level the playing field for us... :)

So you’re basically saying we’re a one man team?

Sorry to derail the enthusiasm at post 5. :P

We're far from a one man team. Holmstrom helps huge, but also with his presence it makes the lines more stable, thus becoming once again, a solid 4 line team. :)

There is little doubt from me that we can win. This isn't a series that's likely to be decided by the perfect play. Pretty goals are for the regular season. Playoffs are about the ugly ones. All it takes is a lucky bounce or a deflection and it's anyone's game. The team that scores the most ugly goals wins. Even though we are down 2 games to 1 we haven't been exactly blown away.

Sharks are a darn good team but we all know around here how darn good teams can be hitting the links and drinking beers while watching the Finals.

OK agreed to many negative thoughts, in sayin this Homer back is big he brings that certain intangable called the demolition man. Now I do not believe that he is the answer completely some things have to change we have to play bigger in order to pull this off GO WINGS

Why are most of the people who are on this board so negitive?

Why do you have to blame players and coachs?

Why cant you  for San Jose who took the play to Detroit in the 3rd period?

San Jose played better then the wings the last 30 minutes of Game 3. San Jose came out with a Win. It was a great game all around, yes the Wings can play better, yes the Ref's sucked ass. but lets give credit were credit is due.... San Jose Sharks outplayed the Detroit Red Wings in Game 3 in San Jose. There I said it.

I though Wings fans were also Hockey fans, but I am proven wrong over and over on this board. Its always the same s***. Blame him, or him or him or them or this or that, never give the other team props.

Yesterdays Game was a solid Hockey game, Great playoff goals, great hits, alot of chances at both ends, a few plays that could have changed the game hitting the Post, a few questionable calls on both sides, a few missed calls for both sides, all in all a great Playoff hockey game, yes MY Team LOST, it sucks, but it happens, sometimes the Wings win those close games and sometimes they loss them.

We all need to stop blaming other people and focus on the positive points of the next game.

Hommy will be back, The wings power play scored a goal, the Wings played a great road game up into the 3rd period.

Honestly how many times have the Wings been out played in the 3rd period this Year? Once, Twice maybe... Normally we are so strong in the 3rd peroid. Lets Face it, This San Jose Team is one of the best Teams the Wings have faced all year.. They smoked our inter league rivials. They are getting more and more confedence againts a team that can make you feel stupied.

I have every confidence that Detroit will Win the Series. But what is Amazing about the game of Hockey is that no matter what team is playing what team, any given night any team can loss. That is what makes Hockey, Hockey everyone has a chance to Win from the drop of the Puck.

All I have to say is, We NEED to positive. We should have won last game, and hopefully the players will realize this and realize we totally dominated the game and then had a break down and gave away the game. Homer will help our cause greatly but we had the game won last night without him and we won last saturday without him as well.

The Wings win and lose as a team not as individuals.

I'm bumed about last nights game yes, but Game 4 will be different. We have to win now, Red Wings have faced adversity before already this season and beat it.

We played decent last game even though we lost, we need to stay focused and we got this.

So you’re basically saying we’re a one man team?

No.

But Nabokov hasn't had the pleasure of staring at Homer's backside yet in this series. Having his big body be a constant presence at the edge of Nabby's crease.

You can't stop what you can't see.

Even on the goals he doesn't touch the puck, Holmstrom is usually a factor.

What high horse?

He's absolutely right.

the key to your statement is the part about having merit. After a loss, so many threads are lacking in that department.

It will help having Homer back. And after the loss ppl come onto the forums pissed, annoyed, angry and so on. The series isn't over yet. Homer will make an impact and Wings can still win the series.

Have faith

GO WINGS!!!

If the Wings play their game for a full 60 minutes

That has been the problem all year long for the Wings. NOT playing a full 60 mins. If they play the full 60 mins, hell even 50, they can win thie whole thing. But they constantly take full periods off and it kills them. They better play 60 mins for game 4, or they are done. Maybe Jim Leyland can coach them for game 4. He demands 9 hard innings, maybe he can get 3 full periods too.
