WingsWingsWings 3 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 This was posted in a different thread, but I think it deserved its own notice. Link. I am definitely rooting for the Sens after this.
Redwings-40-5 11 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 Stories like that are what make hockey players so great. I hardly ever hear stories like that with any other sports. Players and organizations like this are reason why hockey will always be the one of the greatest sports, if not the greatest
StaticWithABeat 0 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 I heard something about this a few days ago...definitely makes it hard to not root for Ottawa.

toby91_ca 620 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 This story would have been touching enough had I read it a year ago, but now that I have a 9 month old daughter, reading stuff like this has a much greater impact on me.

Pretty touching story. I always liked mike fisher hes a fly under the radar kind of guy that is tough along the boards, plays great two way hockey and can score. And now hes proven hes a great human being also, other pro athletes should take notice. While i hope the ducks win,i've always liked ottawas team and bryan murray. puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 24, 2007 NHL players are the best guys in the sports world, hands down. I liked Fisher and Phillips before this story (and Alfie and Giggles and several other Sens). If there is such a thing as a team "deserving" the Cup, it's Ottawa - since we can't have it this year. Go, Sens, Go! I agree! I have a newborn nephew (AS OF TODAY!!!), and a child of my own on the way.... ....this article just touched me. congratulations on both little ones. Wingsor 2 Report post Posted May 25, 2007 okay that was one of the saddest things ive ever read... still choking up damnit life can be cruel sure makes our loss a couple nights ago seem insignifigant thank goodness they won for him now win the cup for him GO SENS GO! puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted May 25, 2007 Who's Giggles? oh, sorry... Jason Spezza is nicknamed "Giggles" around Ottawa circles, because he has a horrible nervous laugh when he's speaking to the media. He's toned it down a bit as he's gotten older, so I don't know if they still call him that.
HenrikRules40 14 Report post Posted May 25, 2007 What a sad and great story. Mike Fisher was always one of the guys I liked but he just rocketed to a favorite. Giggles has been my fav Sen for quite a while but it seems he has some competition. GO SENS GO!!! Oh for those who don't know...Giggles is Jason Spezza. If you don't know why, you probably haven't seen him being interviewed.
YoungGuns1340 1 Report post Posted May 25, 2007 After watching most of the Ottawa playoff games this year, Mike Fisher has quickly become more and more one of my favorite guys not on the Red Wings. This makes me like the guy even more. What a class act. As for that kid, what a sad, yet cute, story. Gotta be rootin for the Sens after that.
