WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 I'm trusting my eyes to Dr. Rahmani. Lasik scheduled for Thursday morning. I'm so excited!!! Good luck, I had mine done in 1999 in Windsor. No regrets at all.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 19, 2011 I came home this morning and was making my bracelet, so I went to the NHL page to see who scored in what order. I had kept tabs on the game at work, but needed to see what order to put the letters on my bracelet. I looked to see who was leading which series and saw the Monday night games. Following them was the first of the Tuesday night games, which hadn't been played. I was not paying close attention until I got to the Tuesday game and read the seeds as scores. I thought it was Vancouver 1; Chicago 8 for a final score. I yelled "HOLY CRAP!" and scared my poor little Johan who was just getting up to say good morning. It's 5-1 Chicago at the end of the second-- they might score their seed numbers by the end of the night!

Jenny 315 Report post Posted April 21, 2011 But I thought it was hip to be square. Dr. Rahmani did an excellent job with my eyes this morning! It still looks kind of like I'm looking through a sort of fog, and my eyes feel kind of uncomfortable from the suction rings and all, but I'm already seeing better than I was! It's really exciting-- I keep looking at things that are far away and realizing I can actually see them, and even read the letters on them, and grinning like a happy idiot. WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted April 21, 2011 You had it done this morning and you're already able to see? That's awesome!! When I had it done I had to keep my eyes closed the first day because it felt like I had sand in them. My eyes are actually watering thinking about it right now. Jenny 315 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Oh, I have had to spend large portions of today with my eyes closed. And I have essentially safety goggles which I'm supposed to wear for 24 hours, and then wear while I'm asleep for the next week. I also have a wondrously bright red ring around my irises, from where they applied the suction rings. It looks seriously terrifying. It's supposed to fade back to normal over the next few days, but in the meantime I plan on using my horrifying monster eyes to scare my annoying co-workers when I go back to work! Still, I'm really optimistic about how the whole thing is going so far. Not so happy about having to put in eyedrops every hour on the hour, but at least that's only temporary. WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Did you have lasik done or was it another procedure? That sounds nothing like what I had.
Jenny 315 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 It was lasik, but it was the new bladeless kind with two separate lasers. The first laser cut the flaps in my corneas-- that's when they used the suction rings. That bit was really uncomfortable. It didn't hurt exactly, but it was not very nice! The second laser did the actual lasik part, and I wouldn't have even noticed anything was happening if not for the blinking light I was supposed to focus on. I actually didn't even notice that part had started until it was over and they were putting drops in my eyes, to tell you the truth.
WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Now it makes sense. I'm glad it went so well for you. I am still so glad I don't have to deal with glasses and contacts anymore and it's been 12 years now.
55fan 5,133 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Oh, ouch. Jenny, you are one brave girl! (You, too, Dawn!) I would sooner give birth to a unicorn than have someone doing that to my eyes if I was awake for it. If I was out cold, I could handle it, but that is just not my thing. Best of luck, dear. You've earned it.
WizardOfOz30 1,886 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 Karen, they put numbing drops in your eyes and you don't feel a thing, maybe some pressure from those suctions cups I guess. My biggest worry was accidentally moving my eye.
Casey 145 Report post Posted April 22, 2011 I'm planning on doing it, as well. My eyes are worse than Jenny's are- 20/600 in the one eye. They're bad enough Dr. Rahmani winced looking through that lens. When we can afford it, though, I'll definitely do it. Glasses are such a PITA.
