What do you expect when Versus lied to us? <_<

Funny.... I am less upset with Versus than I am at the league for allowing this sort of thing..... many other sports would be in court in less than two days of this trying to get their contract voided.... but the current LAWYER in charge doesn't have the balls. No wonder the league wants to phase out fighting...... it won't even fight for it's own rights.

No kidding. This is almost as bad as NBC possibly cutting away from a playoff game to go to the horse racing preshow.

I'm guessing it's because they have zero leverage right now because of the crappy ratings. Still, they should've been able to get more from Versus.

oh, and congrats to Nick!

some of you guys were starting to get me worried with all the talk of Niedermayer winning it.

Congrats to Vinny and Crosby too.

I think that alot of it is a lack of reciprocity..... the network pays the league x amount of dollars under the understanding that the league will re-invest with the network, in the form of advertising dollars at times the sport is not being aired. We all have noticed the NHL does a crappy job of this..... hence they get pushed way down on the networks priority list, in favor of sports that do spend. Thus these sports have leverage and negative consequences if they are unhappy. What is the NHL going to do????? Take away NBC and Versus birthdays????

True.

And it's not like they can threaten to go somewhere else. If they've sunk as low as Versus, who the hell else would carry the NHL?

It's like by going with them, the NHL seemed to think they'd be the big fish in a smaller pond instead of a neglected fish on ESPN. But Versus isn't exactly treating the NHL as their flagship sport.

Does anyone know why Datsyuk never shows up at the awards shows....?

I believe he's just painfully shy. Also, he still doesn't have good command of the English language, and I think that makes him uncomfortable. He should know by now that we don't care! We love him anyway!!!

Hell, they are not even paying any attention at all. I am amazed that the league is not trying to get the hell out of their contract with Versus. Much of the problem with hockey right now is it's lack of visibility.
