Airborn 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I haven't seen his name mentioned, so I'll throw it out there. Aaron Miller is a UFA. He'd be a good fit to replace Markov (assuming we can't resign him). Steady stay-at-home guy with some size, won a cup, lots of intangibles. You get the point.
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I'll pass on Fedoruk. If we're going to get a fighter, let's get one who wins occasionally and doesnt make it on ESPN with a shattered face.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I'll pass on Fedoruk. If we're going to get a fighter, let's get one who wins occasionally and doesnt make it on ESPN with a shattered face. Agreed. Fedoruk has been getting his ass kicked since that whole bout with Eric Cairns a few years ago. He started to return to form during the 2005-2006 season, but last year he was just plain brutal. I don't even think he won a single fight, and if he did, it must have been minor.

Miller would make sense, but I really don't like him as a player. I hope he stays away.
ShanahanMan 473 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 The last public statement Holland made, shortly after Bertuzzi was signed by the ducks, said "We'll take our time now, wait awhile this summer," Holland said. "I think we've got a good team. We'll survey the land." This pretty much guarantees that there will be no signings (except Hasek) in the near future, and our hope of signing another good, forward is gone.

If it does indeed turn out that way it is going to be a loooong wait til trade deadline day to get an impact player.

Wings_Fan_In_Exile 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 well that sucks if true This is definately an adjustment from the old pre-cap days where the Wings could sign a few big names a summer.
regwinguofmfan 0 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I dont understand Ken Holland. He tells all of us he knows what the team needs by addressing it in the media, then does nothing to fix it. Seems to me Rafalski only fills the gap created by losing Schneider. We also lost some other guys so we actually have gone backwards so far this off season. Where is Kenny going with this? kylee 727 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 (edited) i think it's totally vital that the Wings re-sign Dom. i just dont understand whats taking so long since Dom has said he wants to play here? what could it possibly be? and if Detroit doesn't land a top six forward, my my the forward crop for the Red Wings does not look good. unproven youngsters and then grinders and Pav and Z and Homer. tryinggg not to panic Edited July 3, 2007 by kylee
Wingsfan4life19 26 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 So, no one is coming to Wings at the moment. Holland wants the market cooling down. http://blog.mlive.com/snapshots/ Red Wings general Manager Ken Holland says that, Bertuzzi's defection to Anaheim included, he's ready to sit back and enjoy the show as the remaining unrestricted free agents are plucked off the market: With Bertuzzi gone, the Wings' immediate priority is to get Dominik Hasek re-signed; the sides are close and the deal should close this week. As for finding a top-six forward to take Bertuzzi's place, the Wings want to let the 2-day-old free agency market cool off and then see what can be had at a reasonable price for one year or at the most, two. "We'll take our time now, wait awhile this summer," Holland said. "I think we've got a good team. We'll survey the land." : "Another (defenceman) isn't our priority," Holland said. "We're not looking for anybody significant. If we're going to do something on D, maybe it's a month from now." ... "We've spent $40 million without Hasek and Hudler," Holland said. I like both these things said by Kenny... He realizes Hudler needs to be resigned as a top prospect.... And he also realizes the contract of Z coming up in 2 years... Folks don't sweat about Z... he'll be back... That is all.

What assets can we trade besides draft picks and a few prospects? I was thinking the same thing. But I kind of like having a 1st round pick. The our off-season FA signings go, building through the draft is a very good move.
Kp-Wings 3 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 I think Kenny is gonna try to make some trades rather then signing someone of the agency. Like for who? Unless you mean Raffi Torres (love to have him here by the way ), I see no one who is rumored to be moved that would help the Wings. Don't say Glen Murray either. I read a few day's ago that the Oiler's were shopping him around , has anyone else heard anymore on these rumours?? Yes, he has been rumored to be moved. That's exactly why I mentioned his name. He'd be a great fit here, since he's gritty and can score goals. What about Nick Boynton? didn't he clear waivers? He would fit nice with lidstrom, Phoenix still plans on keeping him. Rice 42 Report post Posted July 3, 2007 Why would anyone want Shanahan back? So he can come back, score 40 goals in the regular season, then lay an egg in the playoffs because he's a perimeter player now? No thanks. It would be taking a step back.
