Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Well here is the link: http://www.thefourthperiod.com/topfas_rest.html Which would you like to see become a redwing, if any? I know there are a few topics on this, but this is the most current list.
akustyk 84 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I guess Mike Johnson (though, not for $2M), then optionally Commish. Sister Selanne for $4M isn't bad either. and Markov and Dom, please. Sopel for Markov can be considered
e_mcgrath88 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Yashin please..
Izzy24 44 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Obviously Hasek, and then Sopel / Markov.
RedWings Gone Wild 6 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Markov didn't overly impress me. I'd take any D-man on that list over him. I'd also love to have Peca
BringHomeTheCup! 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I've always like Sopel, I didn't even realize he was an UFA this year. He'd fit nicely, as would Beard. Up front there really isn't anyone who jumps out at me as a guy that would really help out the Wings. I am highly intersted in what RFA's get released by their teams after arbitration. Even moreso, I am interested in what the hell is going through Kenny's mind..
puckhog419 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 im liking peca and obviously hasek
Hockey13Playa 240 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I would like Hasek [obviously] and I would like to see Shanahan back in Detroit, from that list. Sopel maybe, him or Markov. If Peca or O'neil could get a spark of there old self going, I wouldn't mind seeing either of them on the wings as well.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) Kenny wont sign Yashin unless he's hoped up on crack , drunk and has a gun to his head. I'll take Shanny/Gelinas , Dom , Asham for some depth or Sutton on D. Edited July 5, 2007 by Detroit # 1 Fan
N4C3R 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Danny Markov is the only UFA on that list I would like to see wearing the Winged Wheel. The rest of them command too much salary for not enough contribution. We have plenty of leadership and experience. Our youth needs to play. Let Hasek retire and let the Osgood/Howard tandem carry the load. Keep building for the future. Pick up Arron Asham, make a RFA offer to Dustin Penner for a long term contract. -P
Wing Nut 19 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I know his numbers haven't been great but Comrie would fill Langs skates easily, but for that price I'd rather have Peca. Sopel on D or Markov wasn't bad either but Berard is considerably cheaper and could be the heavey weight we need.
NomadFromKazoo 42 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) Dom and Yashin My list too. I don't care what they say, Shanny's staying in NY. I have been living in NY (though moving to NC this summer) and both sides want it. Some others would be OK after these two but I'd start there and see if anything's left. I'd welcome Markov back, but not jump up and down if we do or cry if we don't. Edited July 5, 2007 by NomadFromKazoo
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Wow. According to that, the Red Wings are barely interested in a forward. I think Shanny was the only forward that Detroit was interested in. Only him, and Guerin who just got signed by the isle. So hopefully they arent correct on that. But I will say, out of all the defenseman left, I really am crossing my fingers for Brent Sopel. That would be a perfect signing.
TheGoonSquad0208 1 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I say Hasek or Raycroft via trade and Yashin
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 (edited) I dont beleive some of you guys. I'd take Brashear on a scoring line over Yashin. The man is lazy , sucks , a horrible person , and a lockeroom cancer. He kills your organziation, not to mention his signing would disgrace the names of Yzerman , Howe , Lindsey etc. If Yashin ever made his way to Wings , and Illitch didnt smack Holland around I'd be very surprised. As it is right now , I'd take Feds at 6 mil over Yashin at 1. Edited July 5, 2007 by Detroit # 1 Fan
Wings_Dynasty 267 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I thought the Devils signed Souray. Shanny (not for 4M), Sopel, O'Neil, and maybe Yashin. But other choices are not on that list.

Yeah I thought so too, I was confused with that. I guess they didn't sign him yet though, which is odd.

ProfessorLidstrom5 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Hasek, Sopel, and either one of these 4 forwards: O'Neill, Peca, Gelinas, or Ekman
Airborn 0 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 I think we'll see only one player on this list signed (Hasek). My guess is Holland wants to keep the term and dollars down for whatever defenseman and forward we sign, hence his comments about waiting a while to sign them. If I could pick any of these, I'd go with Markov (why screw with chemistry) and Yashin. There's no way I'd give Yashin anything more than a 1 to 2 year deal for around $2 million per. Anything more than that is insanity. Although with as many incompetent GMs there are in the NHL, it's almost assured that someone is going to offer him 3 years at $4 million per. Sopel for Markov can be considered The Wings do not S+T like that very much. It's bad form. We will not pick up another defenseman, I think. Lijla and Quincey will do, and we need forwards more than we need D-men.
DRW Dominance 255 Report post Posted July 5, 2007 Why do so many want Shanny back? His time here has passed and he is not what we need right now. Kenny is going to have to make a trade to get his top 6 winger. I really can't believe how much cap space we have at this point. Not quite normal for the Wings. Kenny is going to have to make a trade to get his top 6 winger. I really can't believe how much cap space we have at this point. Not quite normal for the Wings. Shanny may be getting old, but looked what kind of numbers he put up last season in New York. I think he stll has some gas in him, and still fights once and a while. Hes got size, and we could use him over some of the other players on that list. However, I am with you on how I can't believe that the wings have so much cap space left. They usually always max that bad boy out. I am really curious to see what Hollands plans are. Is he waiting to the last minute to get someone cheap, or does he plan on trading? I want to see a big name be wecomed to Detroit!

Sure, Shanny put up numbers.. in the first part of the year, and playing with Jagr and Nylander. Anyway, I thought we established that this team took a step forward without Shanny. He's too slow to fit into our system. We don't need him back.
