Konnan511 1,736 Report post Posted August 16, 2007 Next to the Datsyuk undressing of Turco, this is the next most unbelievable goal I think of. I remember being 10 or maybe 11, jumping up and praying he scored then he makes that killer cut back and I nearly had a heart attack! If you don't remember this dramtic goal, at leats tell me you remember Datsyuk's goal against Turco or atleats last years goal when Hank did the pretty between the legs pass to Pavel... WingsZR2 1 Report post Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) D Mac's goal in the SCF will go down as the most important goal scored in modern Wings history IMHO. Theres no denying it was the biggest goal of his career but what it did for this franchise you can't put into words. Being there at the Joe, my father and I crying together, I will never forget that moment. "Darren McCarty was known more for his toughness than his scoring ability. But in the 1997 Finals his cup clinching goal secured his legacy. You may not find McCarty’s name in the Hall of Fame but you will find it on the Stanley Cup" Edited August 16, 2007 by WingsZR2

210th Pick 0 Report post Posted August 16, 2007 (edited) D Mac's goal in the SCF will go down as the most important goal scored in modern Wings history IMHO. Theres no denying it was the biggest goal of his career but what it did for this franchise you can't put into words. Being there at the Joe, my father and I crying together, I will never forget that moment. "Darren McCarty was more known for his physical presence than his scoring ability until he scored the cup clinching goal in the 1997 SCF. You may never make it to the hall of fame or have your name printed in the record books, but your name will forever be engraved on the Stanley Cup" That goal was great, but I think the most important goal in modern Wings history was Stevie Y's goal against the Blues. When he scored that goal, it shattered all doubt that that playoff run would end in failure. Like Lidstrom's half-ice 2002 goal against the Nucks was the turning point in those year's playoffs, Stevie Y's goal was the turning point in the Wing's playoff determination and results, period. D Mac's goal to all-but put it away was just absolutely perfect frosting on the cake of inevitability. Edit: Oh, and nice try editing the original post, spongewing. It's best to try that before anyone cements the posts original text in a quote. I honestly thought you were joking about not remembering it.
