HAHAHA Kenny and Co. waited to long, Sopel outplayed Meech, got a contract offer, was upped Fri. morning then he bounced on us. WOW, I did not see that coming at all. Meech must feel sweet now, this really has me in a little bit of awe.

LOL well obviously Kenny Holland though differently, hence the Wings offering him a contract, then upping the offer Friday afternoon. In other words, you are wrong, at least in the eyes of the people who, well, run the team. But, on the brightside, he isn't playing here so it's not the worst mindset to have in the world.

I understand Sopel's got to look out for himself, but if you're trying out for a team and supposed to play that night, it's a bit s***ty to just say "sorry dudes, i'm outta here" ... if he wants to go to chicago that's fine, he'll probably have more opportunity there, but it sounds like he could have handled it better ...

I guess for an old guy like Sopel...the thought of at most playing 82 games this season for $1.25 milion was too tempting

Personally, (and I stand by this comment 100%) I would rather have Sammy play defense all the time than have Sopel get anywhere near our Blueline.

In our own end Sopel was horrendous. If you thought Lang was lazy and sucks, Sopel made him look like Yzerman. Sammy had just as much power on his point shots, even though thier accuracy was terrible. However, at least Sammy TRIED on defense. He always hustles back into the defensive zone, and backchecks as good as anyone. I cant even say I've seen Sopel hustle at all, forward or back.

He really looked like a fish out of water when playing back in his defensive zone. If he had been playing with me, I would have been yelling for him to bend his knees, Lol.

He looked stiff, for lack of a better term, especially when out on the PK.
