BringHomeTheCup! 0 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 Dandy would fit great in with the Wings with his speed. However, all the things that make him so attractive to the Wings, also make him attractive to other teams. No way the Wings get him off waivers. If Kenny wants him, he would have to trade for him. norrisnick 1 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 This thread is really boggling my mind. This is Mathieu Dandenault, we're talking about here. He's an admittedly speedy converted winger playing defense. He wouldn't bring more size and/or grit to our blueline than if we would line Kirk Maltby up back there. And I doubt too many people would think that would be a better idea, though he'd be better defensively than Dandy... It's confusing, really. Especially considering he'd be about $1M overpaid for the role he could play for us.
russianswede919293 95 Report post Posted September 29, 2007 I am a huge Dandenault fan but I wouldn't bring him back, he just doesn't fit. If you relook my first post to start the thread I never mention the Wings bringing him back, I started it more just as an observation of oh s*** I'm surprised this is going to happen. I wouldn't mind Dandy a wing but I don't think it is going to or necissarilly should happen.

Yes, he was fast and he could play either forward or defense, but still I didn't think he was too good. He's definitely not worth $1.75 million.
eva unit zero 271 Report post Posted September 30, 2007 I wouldn't be stunned to see Dandenault stay on the Montreal roster as he is a better player than Murray, Lapierre, or Kostopoulos, and he could fill the void left by Johnson's apparent departure. He costs too much for the role he would play in Detroit, which is 7th defenseman or 14th forward.

Well, there's a lot of fans who seem to want any player back who's ever worn the Winged wheel. but I chimed in before really accounting for the whole situation. I wouldn't mind Dandenault as a cheap pickup utility player if he were available. Basically a garage sale signing. but Dandenault at $1.75 million? No thanks. BringHomeTheCup! 0 Report post Posted September 30, 2007 True, but aren't waiver pick-ups buy-one-get-one-free? If I am correct, this is how it goes. Waivers are full-price, it's re-entry waivers that is half off.
Dominator2005 558 Report post Posted September 30, 2007 Who said that Dandenault will bring some grit??? C'mon guys - HABS wants to move Dandy to make the room for Brisebois - yeah for Patrice Brisebois... I never think that I will say something like this but Lilja is better def. than ''softie'' Dandenault... No need for him...
