Franzen leaves Hawks game with knee injury

Posted by George James Malik October 06, 2007 22:38PM

Detroit Red Wings forward Johan Franzen appeared to hyperextend his left leg and sustain a Charley horse on his right leg as it absorbed the impact of a Tuomo Ruutu hit, buckling as Franzen dropped to the ice, but the Red Wings are saying Franzen's got a knee injury of some kind:

October 6, Detroit News: They just announced Franzen is out for the rest of the night with a right knee injury. Sure didn't look good when Franzen went down after Ruuttu slid into him. Franzen wasn't putting much pressure on the knee, that's for sure.

Agreed. When I hear his name, it's not preceding "...gives the puck away" and such. He's actually dishing out good hits and the like.

Whereas Lidstrom is about an eighth of a step slower. At least thus far.

Or maybe he's taking the risks since he's got Rafalski backing him up.

If that's the case, it could've been a lot worse.

Thanks for the update. God, I hope Franzenstein isn't hurt badly. :(

Eww, just as bad! VLC Media Player for me.

VLC rawks. I couldn't get WMP to work on my sisters PC when she wanted to play a DVD. Installed VLC and works like a charm. I have it on my Mac too. I thought you needed WMP to listen to the NHL Game Radio feed. An IT guy at NHL.com told me I needed Flip4Mac to listen to its radio feed.

I wish Filppula had some more offensive minded linemates...

Can't see him putting up too many points on that 3rd line.

The point of him being on the line is to make him respondsible defensively and a hard worker. He'll get his time on the top lines throughout the season. I certainly wouldnt mind playing with guys like Cleary and Draper.

Eh, LIl' Ja is just waiting for the most unopportune time for the cough up is all... I still have faith he can pull it off.

NEVER GIVE UP NEVER SURRENDER!

I think it actually IS a WMP plug-in running the feed, but...well, it installs with Windows. So...yeah. Heh. But if I'm viewing any other media files, it's all VLC for me. No more worries about codecs, plays well with subtitle files and so on. I love it. A VLC plug-in that would approximate the WMP plug-in would be teh win, no doubt.

I'm pretty sure he already is. If Franzen is out for any period of time (which I really hope he isn't), I'd like to see Flip get a chance with Datsyuk.
