Did anyone catch the hugfest between Brashear and Laraque last night? I think their fight earlier this year was some kind of out of body experience for both of them. Easily the 2 most boring fighters ever, though I'd still love to have either on my team. :D

I'd take Laraque, not Brashear. Too many dumb penalties and cheapshottery. Did you see the game where he cheapshotted Jagr, fought Shanny, then sucker punched Ward on the way to the box?

I would take Boogie over either.

What I wouldn't give to have a guy that can do that against the Blues.

Franzen seriously needs to take some fighting tips from Lilja. Then maybe he could handle himself better next time he gets into a similar situation.

Take them? Hell he's already aced lesson #1....dont throw any punches!

On a serious note though, he does need to learn a thing or two from Downey. As does Kronwall. I love when he goes for the open ice hit, but someone is going to after him at some point. When you go for the big hits like that, you need to be able to protect yourself and not get ragdolled if someone goes for revenge.

Yeah, but Lilja's a great defensive fighter, unlike Franzen who just had no clue what to do to protect himself. I've never seen Lilja get beat down like that. Once again, the Gauthier fight from last year doesn't count, since that was before he became the "PAIN TRAIN".

Would've been great to see Wisnewski finish the fight by scalping Tootoo :rambo:

Everywhere, all over the league, Tootoo targets cheered at that whooping. This is the first time I have cheered on a Blackhawk! Way to go Wisnewski.

Good Stuff

Foote also put a pretty good beating on Tootoo earlier in the week.

I'll have to write this down in my calendar, first and probably last time I've cheered on Adam Foote and the Blackhawks in the same week.

The ANA/CGY game was great tonight. Losts of rough stuff, goals and saves.

I must say first, Giguere is terrible, he sucks and shouldnt be in the NHL. I've seen minor league goalies control rebounds better then him.

Back to the fighting, Moen and Phaneuf tried to go, but Dion fell on a stick. Perry and Nystrom went at the very end, clear win Nystrom, he pounded him. Perry of course, kept his visor on. What a ******. Pronger and Phaneuf were all over each other, would've been awesome if those 2 had gone.

Im not exactly a fan of guys keeping their visors on, but you cant really expect Perry to remove his in what was clearly a spur of the moment fight. A square off is a different story, but the occasion to take it off doesnt always present itself...(see: Dallas Drake vs Mayers) Nothing wrong by Perry in this one, well, other than the fact he lost.

Ton of fights last night, the Isles/Devils game suprisingly had a couple good ones. Rupp with the TKO on Sutton, and even Comrie/Mottau was a nice scrappy fight. Brashear destroyed Neil in the Ottawa game, funny how Don Cherry hates Brashear so much he said Neil won! lol.

Comrie looked great last night. I guess him an Hilary Duff must have had a disagreement and he was just taking it out on Mottau. As for Brashear, I've never really liked him, but I'm beginning to think more and more that he should be considered for top 10 all-time status. I know he hugs a lot and he's boring as s***, but he's been dominant for a very long time, and that's hard to do as an enforcer.

I agree on Brashear. There was a stretch from probably '98 all the way to 2 years ago where i considered him the #1 fighter. Thats a very, very long period of time. He does do the hugging thing, but with him its not the classic hugger where a guy just doesnt wanna mix it up and throw punches. Brashear hugs in order to use his strength to get position.... where he can fire all his lefts. No one will ever put him in the top 10 ten though, based off of the fact he doesnt fight wide open....which is stupid. If a guy is beating everybody he deserves credit for it no matter how he's doing it.

Just for the record, what is your top 10 all time? Mine consists mostly of guys that played in the toughest era of hockey, and were the most feared during that era. Hence, there's no room for guys like Brashear. Here's my list:

1. Bob Probert

2. Behn Wilson

3. Dave Brown

4. Clark Gillies

5. Nick Fotiu

6. Joey Kocur

7. Larry Playfair

8. Bob Nystrom

9. Tie Domi

10. Tony Twist

You know, unfortunately, i cant really give you an all time top 10...because too much of it would be just based on heresay (things ive heard and read). I just havent seen nearly enough footage of the older guys like Wilson and Fotiu to feel comfortable enough to say where they stand against the guys ive been able to personally watch. My fighter knowledge pre-early 90's is pretty limited, so any list i was to make would end up just being a compilation of what other people have said.. no use in doing that! Just based off ive guys ive been able to watch in my era of fanship, Brashear would probably fall somewhere in the middle of the top 10. I'd definitely put Probert, Kocur, and Twist above him.

Hmmm...i think for the hell of it i'm gonna try and come up with a top 10 of the last 10 years list...

Hey, most of the guys in my top 10 came before my time. I don't know if you've ever been on dropyourgloves.com, but they've recently added videos to many of the fights, so you'll be able to see footage of some of the early 80's fights. Also, you can always type player names into youtube and get some fight videos from the old days.

It'd be worth a try, but an overall top 10 would still be more interesting. Since, McCarty and Shanny got here, there wouldn't be any other Wing to put on this list.

Either or, I was thinking top 10 fighters to have played for Detroit at some point was along the lines of what I was thinking

I guess most of that list would come from the 80's Wings teams. I don't know much about Wings fighters back in the 60's and 70's except I always hear about how Gordie Howe was feared by others, so I'd have to go on pure rep. Obviously Probert, Kocur, Grimson, Gallant, Polonich, etc., would be at the top of the list, with Mac And Shanny in there somewhere. I can't think of any others right off the top of my head just now.

Yeah, I just find it strange that with all the fighters in Detroit's history I've never seen anyone rank them.

Hmmm....I'll have to watch it again, but on live viewing last night it just looked like your a-typical crap fight draw.

Cool, thanks. Nope, never been on dropyourgloves, ive heard of it but just assumed it was just another messageboard. Didnt know there were a bunch of clips on there. And i feel just a little stupid for not realizing how many fights were actually on You Tube.

Thats a pretty stacked list. Hard to argue with any of those picks. Here's my top ten:

1. Bob Probert

2. Marty McSorley

3. Clark Gillies

4. Dave Brown

5. Joe Kocur

6. Dave Schultz

7. Terry O'Reilly

8. Tony Twist

9. Tie Domi

10. Chris Nilan

Honorable Mention - Larry Robinson. He didn't fight enough to get a spot, but when you pissed him off he never lost.

Not a bad list. You must be a McSorley fan, cause I've never seen anyone rank him so high. He was a great fighter, but never one of my favorites. Also, how can you omit Wilson or Playfair? Those guys hardly ever lost even though they fought in the toughest era of fighting in the NHL.
