That shows you what a great fighter Lilja is. He hasn't even thrown a punch in 2 fights, yet he hasn't been beaten yet. Pure dominance.

Those lethal weapons of his must not be registered yet.... so he's just showing off his grappling power right now.

I hear ya, but I dont think Laraque can really be criticized for this one. I think Crosby was looking to get into a fight with somebody eventually no matter what...as evidenced by having Laraque give him pointers in practice.

Det#1fan - Just curious as to how you scored the Wings fights. I have Kopecky at 1-0 with the win over Sharp. Lilja at 0-0-2 with the 2 crap draws with Begin and Phaneuf. Drake at 1-2-1, with a win over Burish...losses to Mayers and Wisneiwski, and a draw with Perry. Aaron Downey i have 1-1-3 with a win over McLaren, a loss to Boll, and 3 draws with Shelley, Davison, and Fedoruk. All total i have the Wings at 3 - 3 - 6. Im assumiming maybe you gave Drake the win over Perry?

Personally I would say:

Kopecky 1-0-0, landed better on Sharp

Lilja 0-0-2 , 2 draws with Begin and Phaneuf

Drake 1-2-1, win agaisnt Burish, draw with Perry, losses to Wisniewski and Mayers

Downey 2-0-3, wins over McLaren and Boll, draws with Shelley, Fedoruk, and Davison

You have Downey losing to Boll where I think most people felt he won.. I was skeptical at first giving Downey an edge for coming back strong and proving he is a better fighter, I felt I just saw what I wanted to but the consensus at hockeyfights.com and dropyourgloves.com felt that Downey got the win as well... either way it was a good, close fight.. I just felt Downey taking the fight over proved he was superior

Jonathan Ericsson had a fight last night in GR. He got an instigator and a misconduct as well..

wonder if they'll be a video of that floating around somewhere soon

The Crosby fight might get a few people off his back. He's been taking some criticism lately for things like whining and diving, a lot of it either exaggerated or just silly.

Laraque-Chara was an incredibly crappy fight. Parros-Parker was pretty good.

I have no doubt Downey is superior, but watching it a few more times just now, it just appears that Boll landed the better punches. Downey was swinging at alot of air in the latter portion. No doubt a close fight, and i wouldnt argue draw, but i cant award points just because of heart and stamina. Going with what was landed, i have to go narrow win Boll. Cool to see we're in agreement on the others though.

I'm using the hockeyfights.com scores :P . But personally, I think Drake did beat Perry, that's just me though.

Anytime a guy wears a visor during a fight, I can't see how anyone can say that he won the fight. To me that's an unfair ***** advantage. So guys like Iginla and Tootoo will never get any respect from me for dropping the gloves.

Rots me too, that's why I dislike Iginla so much. He squares up for a fight, and secures his shield then starts throwing punches, what a joke.

Then, a melee five minutes into the third period piled insult upon injury for Rockford's Prestin Ryan, who sustained a pummeling from Jonathan Ericsson !!!

Now if he can get his 6'5" 220lb up to 235, then we may be onto something of a force on the D next year.

You guys are hilarious with the Lilja jokes. :P

I'm going to ballpark it here and predict that Lilja makes up for his awful game on Thursday with a fight in either today's game, or the game on the 26th. Who's with me? :D

I'm with you. I've been saying all year that Lilja was going to kill Boogaard eventually. I mean that big oaf can't dodge the "PAIN TRAIN" every game can he? Fedoruk would be small potatoes for Lilja, so I don't see the point of fighting him. Kopecky can take on the Fridge if he pleases.

he really isn't... I'm on the bandwagon as well but Lucic will not go with most heavyweights in the league, and he IS being challenged (I recall Peters challenging him on numerous occasions about a month ago). At 6'4 220 I expected him to go with anyone he could, like most rookies "heavyweights" would, but he is going after middleweights and light heavyweights...not saying he hasn't been impressive, because he has, and I hope that one day he does challenge for the title but he's not even close right now beating guys like Boll, Bell, and Tarnasky.

Until you are beating the likes of Laraque, Brashear, King, Boogaard, Godard, Belak, Roy, Orr, Ivanans, Parros, Shelley, Parker, McGrattan, Peters... you are nowhere near the title... right now Shawn Thornton is the heavyweight in Boston and all the players in the league realize that

Thornton-Lucic-Chara......That'll be scary, give em time...possibly this coming off-season they go to Boogaard's fight camp?

Probert was scary good his years in Detroit.....Lucic still has age on his side, he's my age!

Agreed, at this point i'd consider him in the running to be light heavyweight champ, but thats it.

So then, how did you score the Drake-Mayers fight? Is Drake a ***** for not taking off his lid?

Yes he is. My point exactly. And if Downey does the same thing, then I'll say that he's a *****. It's an unfair advantage that too many guys are taking advantage of nowadays. There's no way I can ever say a guy won the fight when he's wearing a visor and the other guy isn't. And no, I don't want to see both guys fighting with visors on.

This is how I see it. There is a difference between a guy like Iggy who always wears a visor, and a guy like Vinny who does not when it comes to challenging another player to fight. However, I disagree with labeling a guy a ***** simply beacuse he is wearing a visor. Have you ever worn worn in a fight? Trust me, it isn't any advantage, not remotely. It's a disadvantage. I've been cut many times from my haffie during regular game play. When I fight I take it off. Why? Not because I want to make it a 'fair fight' but because I have been cut pretty bad, and I've seen guys get cut even worse than I have been because they had the haffie on.

In regards to Drake, he doesn't normally wear a haffie, and he didn't have much time to take it off. So regardless of opinion about the haffie being an advantage or disadvantage, you can't place him into the same category as a guy who is challenged to take it off, and doesn't.

Franzen didn't even land a punch. That was absolutley terrible. But hey: it gives us another fighting major, so we're not last in the league. :P

He needs to take fighting lessons from Lilja. You know the PAIN TRAIN wouldn't let that kinda stuff go on. He wouldn't even have to land a punch himself, yet he'd still strike so much fear in his opponent that he'd still come away with the draw.

Look up the word "intimidation" on the internet, and you'll see Lilja in action, beating the crap out of Laraque. Or, look up the word "toughness", and you'll see Lilja doing the same thing, only this time on Boogaard and McGrattan at the same time. That, my friend is the power of the PAIN TRAIN. ;)
