tubaguy 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 I'm tired of the stupid Lilja penalties. Bring back Markov. Our current numbers 5 and 6 just aren't cutting it. In fact, I am really starting to dread Kronwall's shifts!

Guest REDWINGS4LYFE Report post Posted October 15, 2007 id rather spend the money on a second line player
Yc172 3 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Lilja has stepped it up, but i would still much rather see markov considering i know what lilja is capable of.. but i disagree, i think kronwall has been pretty solid so far
tubaguy 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 I disagree. He has significant PIM taking costly and stupid penalties. He needs to play with his brain a bit more. I was a big fan of his grit and play he had towards the end of last season and in the playoffs, however he either isn't playing quite as smart or is receiving calls when he wouldn't last year. Something needs to change. Maybe he needs to be reminding how upset he was last year when he was scratched.
omnipotent_hudler 0 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Christ yes... We need him back. Not that it would matter that much, since half of our defensive corps. looks like it deserves to be benched half the game. If we can sign him anywhere in the range of 3M-3.5M or somewhere in that range, jump on it. He could even be trade bait later in the year of our other defensemen get their heads out of their asses. evil204 4 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 I'd bring Markov back for sure. We need bigger, physical defensemen. It just won't be evident until we lose in the playoffs.
betterREDthandead 58 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 I think this will be a short thread. I for one think Lilja is doing fine, and we don't need Markov. The defense is rock solid. The offense needs more attention than the defense, because there still isn't a truly consistent scoring threat outside the top line.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 The 3 mil that would be used on Markov, would be better used on 2nd line forwards.
Guest DetroitIan Report post Posted October 15, 2007 As long as Markov will lower that asking price a bit, I am all for bringing Danny back. That would be great. And our defense would just be that much deeper. Probably the best in the NHL.

Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Here's a $$$'s comparison of Markov to a scoring forward. Ryder @ 2.95 would be a better deal then Markov @ 3.5.

Barrie 900 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 (edited) Just enjoy our 4-1-1 record. Things are fine, and there's this thing called the Salary Cap we have to stay under. Edit: Also, I'd rather we save money to load up again at the deadline instead of bringing in another guy to play D. Im going to make an Official Bring Back D-Mac thread..... . . . . . Again. See now that one I agree with if we can sign him cheap. Edited October 15, 2007 by Barrie

Kronner had an awesome game tonight, so Im not sure what the problem is with him. Hes only gotten better in his 6 games this season, and is poised for a break out. Hes really turned up the physicality as well.

Lidstrom is great, Ralfie is good, beyond that, the Wings have nothing special. The d corp is in need of an upgrade just as much as the second line.

Salviaman 104 Report post Posted October 15, 2007 Do we really need him? I think we do, but I think we would be better off waiting for a 2nd line or 3rd line guy to get at the trade deadline than spend over 3 million on Markov. I hope he comes back though.... If we can re-sign Markov for a low enough figure, we will have more than enough room to pick up a player at the deadline. Remember that a deadline acquisitions impact on the cap is a fraction of their annual salary. That was one of the reasons that Bertuzzi was attractive. Let's compare Detroit's defense with Anaheim's, based on defensive play: Lidstrom>Pronger Rafalski>O'Donnell Chelios>Beauchemin Kronwall>Schneider That's a pretty clear cut advantage for Detroit. Markov being added to that group only skews it in Detroit's favor even further. As far as the Kings....they have a sexy defense, in that it has six offensively capable defensemen, but their best defensive defenseman might be rookie Jack Johnson. Since he is, after all, the only defenseman in their top six that has met Bernier...

Since he is, after all, the only defenseman in their top six that has met Bernier... How can you say that Kronwall is a better defenseman than Schneider? If you believe the Wing's excitement towards Nik, I guess you could say that he has the potential, but he hasn't really shown that. Kronner needs to decide what he wants to be and build that to a NHL proficency. He can be a hard hitting stay at home defenseman or an offensive defenseman and jump on the rush. Right now he tries to do both and hasn't mastered either.
