I'm so happy for him. I don't know why some of you guys harp on him and Sammy. So far, I think, everyone's doing a great job. Especially Ellis and Meech. Oh yeah, and Hank, Pav, and Homer too.

Me neither, Lilja has looked very well lately, I think some people forget that he only makes 1m/yr, you have to take that into account. Samuelsson has been playing great as well, 8pts in 9 games.

He played better because he had to earn his icetime and fighting was just part of it.

Last year we really had no one who could drop the gloves so he was willing to use his face as a punching bag. He has guts and that is always welcomed on a hockey team. However now we have Downey and Drake so Lilja doesn't have to drop them. But I expect to see a few Lilja fights this season. As soon as Quincey is ready to go, the ol' Pain Train is going to have to impress to stay in the line-up. Competition breeds strong play.

I've said for a while.....he's no top-4 defenseman, but he's a better 6th defenseman than most other teams have. Go Pain Train.

I love it when he fights! He's a big hulking guy and really knows how to put on the body. I just don't want his face to get too jacked up.

I'm glad I wasn't the only one that got a chuckle out of his logic. I also particularly liked the following comment:

"He made an unbelievable play. I would have blamed myself if I didn't score there."

Sidenote: Lilja has been playing solid ever since March.

He and Sammy deserve props this season. Both have been playing increasingly well. Cant complain, especially at their prices.
