Wow, this isn't even fair.

From what I read over at MLive today, Babcock sounds like he is going to be giving the start on Wednesday to Osgood.

"Hasek said he hopes to play Wednesday -- but he'll have to run that by Babcock, first.

"He won't be going Wednesday, probably, but he'll go when he goes,"

Wow. I'm actually surprised. Last I heard, Dom was starting against Nashville. Sounds like Babcock finally has some faith in Ozzie. As long as we keep winning, I have no complaints.

I'm opening myself to get flamed here, but I think the Wings are one of the most boring teams in the league to watch. Dats and Zetts are a pleasure to view but the rest of the team is boring.

We play a very boring, suffocating style that puts a lot of fans to sleep.

I shouldn't complain because we'll more than likely use this style to get another #1 seed locked up. But the last couple of years I use most of my free time and Center Ice subscription to watch other teams during the regular season. But I tune in for every minute of Wings playoff hockey.

You know, I really agree with you. The lack of fighters is the biggest issue with me, but some other factors play into it.

Datsyuk and Zetterberg, especially Zetterberg, are really entertaining to watch. After that, I'd say the next most entertaining player is Aaron Downey, who I wish would get more games in. The rest of the team is pretty boring though, especially some of the useless players in the lineup like Kopecky.

Eh... I don't know. The Wings are great team, and I'll take whatever works. But sometimes I do wish some Wings games were on the more entertaining side. Their starting to take on that New Jersey style of hockey. While it isn't playing a trap, it's still not all that entertaining.

If the Wings had more fighters, you'd see my interest spark up a lot more. For the most part, I watch every Wings game, but if a good rivalry matchup presents itself, I may take that instead.

It's been a nice start.

Incidentally, has CPrice or any of the Blues fans been around lately to lecture us on how we're just a mediocre team this year?

Actually, I don't think we've lost since that flame-fest a couple weeks ago.

Simply the raw talent and the difference in the all round game tells you Crosby will take this thing in the end. He already has 1 more goal tonight and the Pens are currently up 4-0. Haha, we need Z to get 3 G's 1 A next game.

5-0 presently, Crosby with 2 G so far. We just need to play NJ with Brodeur in net. They finally yanked him. Have mercy...

I've been watching this game and have determined that with the current coaching of the Pens, Crosby will have no chance at breaking Gretzky's single season scoring record, not that anyone really thought that he had a chance.

I think the Pens have had 3 powerplays since going up 4-0 and I don't think Crosby got playing time on any of them. I understand what the idea is there, bu this is not peewee house league where you don't want to embarass your opponent. Back in the Oilers day, Gretzky would be out there for all of those chances, including at the end of the game to get a shot at the empty net.

New Jersey really blows this year. Guess that's what happens when Lou Lamb continues to screw and stab people in the back on numerous occasions, while also failing to make his team any better after losing two huge core players in Rafalski and Gomez.

Crosby's 1st goal was PP, but since then, you're right.

sidenote: Brodeur has allowed 4+ goals in a game 7 times this season. So far. :scared:

I know you are probably joking (I think), but in the 3 games leading up to tonight, Brodeur had a GAA of 1.29 and SV% of .951

I can only imagine the backlash to any goalie here in Detroit who lost 8 out of 11 outings.

Before tonight, Brodeur had .896 4v% and 2.72 GAA, according to ESPN stats. So, no.. I am not really kidding.

No doubt, Brodeur has struggled a bit this year, but he did at the start of last year too I think. But you know, Hasek has a 2.68 GAA and .877 sv% so far this year.

Oh...where do you get that he has given up 4+ goals 7 times so far this year? After tonight, I count 4.

And Hasek is not far ahead of him.

Out with the old and in with the new, I guess.

Hasek is 4-2-1 last time I looked. Brodeur is 4-6-1. Dom will get better, now that he's healthy again. Is Brodeur hurt? He's lost three games by NJ being shut out (which wasn't his fault, of course).

My bad... 6 games, not 7 - one was Weekes. The 4+ goals per game were not all losses for Brodeur.

And Hasek is not far ahead of him.

more Wins. He's ahead in that.

I thought you might be able to make excuses for Hasek.

You point to his win/loss record being better than Brodeur's??? Do you think that the TEAM Hasek plays for might have a little bit to do with that record....just a little bit?

In Brodeur's 7 losses, his team scored a total of 4 goals. That's right, 4 goals in 7 games, or 0.57 gpg. Tough to win those ones.

EDIT: Please tell me what dates Brodeur allowed 4+ goals against because I have no idea how you get to 6.

schedule/scores

here you go. Upon closer inspection, 2 of the 4 goal losses were due to empty netters... I don't usually care enough about NJ to watch every game, so I was looking at scores and numbers.

And as for making excuses, Hasek doesn't need anyone to make excuses for him, any more than Brodeur does, I guess. I simply point out the opposite side of the story to offset the persistent negativity from some fans toward Dom. The team has a lot to do with losses and wins... like... when the team takes 26 minutes of penalties in one game. Hopefully that was a fluke, but it accounts for one of Hasek's two whole losses this season.

My point was that you were ripping into Brodeur, but continue to defend Hasek....that's all.

My point of view: Don't have a huge problem with how either is doing right now because I know they will bounce back. However, for my money, I'd take Brodeur.

I have trouble understanding why Wings fans don't support their own goaltenders, but I ought to be used to it by now, I guess.

But fair enough, Toby. I am sure you have your reasons for backing Brodeur, and that's fine.
