puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 I imagine more than one player has felt that way about The Coach at one time or another. Get over it, Matty.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Didnt have confidence in you? Are you retarded Matty? You had your best seasons playing under Babcock and he played you on almost every PP throughout 2 seasons. Jeez, I wonder what his comments will be like after he misses the net his next time out. rwfan007 18 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 just like the lions, the wings are trimming the fat too. Get all of the negative out of the locker room and make a team that actually wants to play as a team
WingWarrior25 0 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Schneider was talking about Babcock not having confidence in him during a shootout, not the amount of confidence he had in him overall. We had too many other guys ahead of him to put him in a shootout. He didn't really say anything that bad.
Earthhuman 8 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Way too many finesse guys on the Wings to give Schneids a chance. He knew that.
edicius 3,269 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Sour grapes, anyone? Schneids is just bitter that he got saddled with a team suffering from a Stanley Cup hangover, without actually getting to enjoy the actual Stanley Cup win.
chrisdetroit 189 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Sour grapes, anyone? Schneids is just bitter that he got saddled with a team suffering from a Stanley Cup hangover, without actually getting to enjoy the actual Stanley Cup win. Looking at it from where he sits now, he can't be happy. The Ducks have close to zero chance to win the cup this year. Without Selanne and Neidemeir they are just another mediocre team. It's only been 15 games but it's already obvious. He could have stayed in Detroit who with is definitely in the hunt.

Nothing is already obvious in November in hockey. You should know that . It's not like they had a long playoff run or anything . Anyways....... he is just saying for the shootouts not overall.. Not a horrible thing to say. Pretty much said what warrior had to say lol but i quess the point is out there. So much Schneider bashing lately. Fatsyuk 1 Report post Posted November 4, 2007 Who knows, there could have been more to the interview and they took that qoute and pasted into that article. I enjoyed him playing on the wings while he was here, sad to see him leave, but am very happy to have rafalski.

I don't know about that. Even though the Ducks have struggled so far this season, I still see them as number 1 threat to our cup run this season because there is a chance that Niedermayer might come back. I watched their last game against phoenix, they played very very well. Schneider looks to be a very good addition to Ducks. Granted most teams play well against coyotes but my guess is that Ducks will come around even without Niedermayer. They might need secondary scoring source tho. As for Schneider, we all knew he can put the puck in the net but he makes really bad mistake sometimes that leads to goal. I saw him having too defensive lapses in Toronto so I was never that thrilled that he signed with Wings to begin with. Overall Rafalski > Schneider especially in our system with Nick Edited November 5, 2007 by Yemack
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 FOR THE LOVE OF CHRIST, PEOPLE. Schneider was the most sarcastic of all Wings players while he was here. You all know that he said that as a joke, showing his pearly whites off as he said it. As much as people read into things, this is just sad. This comment is no different than the Lilja interview after he scored the goal from the beautiful pass from Flip. "Yeah, I'm a real goal scorer." Of course Babs never showed any faith in him in the shootout. Hes a defensman. We never got deep enough into a shootout to get to the D man. Lids never went either. Schneider just has a sense of humor about it. From everything we know from watching Schneider for years here in Detroit - what makes anyone here think that he honestly meant he was pissed at Babs. He made a joke. Too bad the internet can't properly convey tone of voice. Too bad people read everything as literal.
puckloo39 5,686 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 I guess it would matter more to me what Schneider meant to say, or whether he was joking or being sarcastic, or whatever... if I cared. I don't. Gimme Brian Christopher Rafalski, any day!
swedishconnection 36 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 I think its more of the fact that people feel the need to portray him in a bad light to justify his leaving detroit. Its easier to move on if they dont like the guy now, even if they did before. Schneider didn't turn his back on the Wings, even if some around here want to makes themselves believe it. He loved L.A. the last time he was out there. That team offered him more money. They play a hard nosed style that even Schneids had quoted "enforcers are like nukes... once your opponent has one, you want one too." Plus, heading to the the team that just won a Cup isnt the worst of places to head to (eventhough it seems like there is a hangover curse as of late). He was a team guy while he was here, offered additional leadership, and brought enthusiasm and humor to an already great team. To me and others, he sometimes stood out on a team that has many future HOFers on it. And that says a lot. He did what was best for him. Wings would have loved to have kept him. It just didnt work out that way. No harm, no foul. Best of luck Schneids. I'm rootin for ya...
HockeyCrazy3033 168 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Come on peeps.. I don't see the big deal in this at all. It's pure sarcasm, and we all know Schneids is like that.

ben_usmc 253 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 for real, sounds more like a joke. Talk about short sighted Matt was a big part of this team. We've replaced him, so why hate on the guy whenever possible like he was some a-hole.

WingWarrior25 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Babcock > Schneider Well, unless you need someone to rip a slap shot high and wide... I think you misspelled Samuelsson. Don't worry, i get confused too when names start with the same letter.
Detroit # 1 Fan 2,204 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Yeah, it probably was sarcasm, thats how Schnieder was. Btw, why the heck did he have to sign with Anaheim? I really liked Schnieds and he goes out and signs with the Quackers so I cant even cheer for him anymore
Heaton 1 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 I highly doubt it was sarcasm, Schneider really didn't like Babcock. It's no coincidence though, Schneider has made enemies on every team he's been on.

We had too many other guys ahead of him to put him in a shootout. He didn't really say anything that bad. Absolutely. I didn't get the impression that Schneids was 'cracking' on Babcock in the least. I actually got the impression he was trying to kid around.
detroitdan 0 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Schneider was definitely making a joke...he had to know that Dats, Hank, and Hudler would shoot in the shootout almost every time
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Gofigure.......Babs not calling upon a defenseman in a Shootout. Who would've thought? There are/were better options ahead of him for a SO, and thats why Babs never called upon him.
NeverForgetMac25 483 Report post Posted November 5, 2007 Sidenote: I agree with those that feel Schneids' comments were made more as a joke.
